How do I build an Alien Deck in Duel Links?

Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links has many different deck types, each with their specific cards and special abilities. Each type of monster can build a variety of decks, so no matter what kind of duelist you are, there’s a deck that matches your style. Now, let’s look at alien decks.

Alien decks have a unique mechanic: Alien monsters can put A-Counters on their opponent’s monsters. For every A-Counter, a monster loses 300 ATK and DEF per Alien monster on the field. This weakens the opponent’s monsters, making them easy to destroy.

While this is how most Alien decks are played, there are several different versions and hybrid decks. Here, I have listed the top 5 Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links Alien decks.

Because all these decks are alien based, they have similar cards and strategies. Read carefully, and you’ll find the version that speaks to you.

5. Free-To-Play Alien Deck

Alien Ammonite brings back monsters from your graveyard.

This deck has neither ultra rare nor super rare cards from any set and can be compiled completely free of charge. It is a beginner’s deck, designed to be manageable, but having to balance each monster’s special abilities will help you increase your skill. As you collect more cards, you can upgrade this deck into a masterpiece.

This deck is great because:

  • New-player friendly: this deck can be made fairly easily.
  • It’s free; it requires cards that come from tickets or from the Abyss Encounters box, which can be purchased with gems.
  • It will help you master the unique mechanic of A-Counters.

How to play this deck:

  • The main strategy is to take over your opponent’s monster cards.
  • “A” Cell Recombination Device is a spell that sends an Alien monster from the deck to the graveyard to place A-Counters on your opponent’s monsters.
  • Brainwashing Beam lets you take any of your opponent’s monsters, as long as they have an A-Counter on them. For every turn that you control that monster, remove an A-Counter. When they are all gone, the monster is destroyed.
  • Use Alien Telepath to weaken your opponent’s monsters when they attack.
  • Include Alien Grey to add more A-Counters. When it’s sent to the graveyard, draw a card.

Recommended Cards in this deck:

  • Alien Grey (x2)
  • Alien Telepath (x3)
  • Alien Warrior (x3)
  • Alien Overlord (x2)
  • “A” Cell Recombination Device (x3)
  • Enemy Controller (x2)
  • Brainwashing Beam (x3)

4. Alien Neos Deck

Add a space hero to your Alien deck!

This deck is a hybrid deck, incorporating Jaden Yuki’s ace monster, Elemental Hero Neos. Many of the cards are from the Cybernetic Rebellion box and Neos Fusion structure deck, so this deck can cost real money to make.

This deck is great because:

  • It has both fusion and synchro monsters.
  • This deck uses mostly monster and trap cards and does not solely focus on A-Counters.
  • It's designed to bring multiple monsters onto the field quickly.

How to play this deck:

  • As this is a Neos deck, the goal is to summon Elemental Hero Brave Neos; however, as long as there are Aliens and A-Counters on the field, the opponent’s monsters will be weakened, enabling Elemental Hero Brave Neos to defeat them with ease.
  • Alien Ammonite lets this deck become a synchro deck, to bring out powerful synchro monsters.
  • Alien Kid puts A-Counters on all the opponent’s monsters on the field, lowering their ATK.
  • Use Neos Fusion to get Elemental Hero Brave Neos on the field! When it destroys a monster, it lets you add a spell or trap card to your hand that has “Elemental Hero Neos” in the title, so you can get another Neos Fusion card.
  • This deck works well with “The Tie That Binds” skill, which increases the ATK of all monsters on your field by the number of monsters on your field times 100. This skill is held by Yugi Muto, Jaden Yuki, and Yusei Fudo.

Recommended Cards in this deck:

  • Alien Ammonite (x3)
  • Alien Overlord (x1)
  • Alien Warrior (x3)
  • Alien Kid (x2)
  • Alien Mars (x1)
  • Elemental Hero Neos (x2)
  • Cosmic Cyclone (2)
  • Neos Fusion (x2)
  • “A” Cell Recombination Device (x3)
  • Elemental Hero Brave Neos (x2)
  • Cosmic Fortress Gol’gar (x2)

3. Transcendent Crystal Beast Alien Deck

The large and fearsome Alien Overlord, controller of outer space.

This deck is similar to the Neos Alien Deck, but it uses Crystal Beasts instead. It is a monster-heavy deck that lines both your Monster Zone and your Spell & Trap Zone with monsters. At the same time, is a synchro deck, and can be modified to summon many different synchro monsters.

This deck is great because:

  • It is not a pure alien deck: it is paired with Crystal Beasts, which are powerful on their own.
  • This deck relies on A-Counters to reduce the ATK of your opponent’s monsters when they attack.
  • This deck is a synchro deck, designed to bring out Cosmic Fortress Gol’gar.

How to play this deck:

  • Alien Ammonite is a tuner monster, required to summon the powerful Cosmic Fortress Gol’gar. When summoned, Alien Ammonite can special summon a Level 4 or lower Alien monster from the graveyard, making it perfect for synchro summoning.
  • Alien Telepath uses A-Counters, either to destroy your opponent’s spell or trap cards or to decrease an attacking monster’s ATK and DEF by 300.
  • Synchro summon; use Alien Ammonite and Alien Telepath to summon Cosmic Fortress Gol’gar, a monster with 2600 ATK. Every turn, it returns cards to their owner’s hands, and by removing A-Counters, you can destroy any of your opponent’s cards.
  • Play this deck as Jesse Anderson, using his “Transcendent Crystals” skill: this lets you summon Crystal Beasts, and place them in the Spell & Trap Zone.
  • By using this skill and Cosmic Fortress Gol’gar’s ability, Crystal Beasts can be brought onto the field or returned to your hand.
  • Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus moves to the Spell & Trap Zone after being destroyed in the Monster Zone.
  • Crystal Raigeki is a trap card that lets you send a Crystal Beast to the graveyard to destroy any of your opponent’s cards.

Recommended Cards in this deck:

  • Alien Ammonite (x3)
  • Alien Telepath (x3)
  • Alien Warrior (x2)
  • Alien Dog (x2)
  • Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus (x2)
  • Alien Overlord (x2)
  • Crystal Raigeki (x3)
  • “A” Cell Recombination Device (x3)
  • Cosmic Fortress Gol’gar (x3)

2. Alien Dog Deck

Who's a good boy? He's a good boy!

This deck focuses on Alien Dog instead of Alien Ammonite. While it has synchro monsters, it is not designed to be a synchro deck. Like many of the other Alien decks, this has mind control cards, but it focuses more on increasing A-Counters.

This deck is great because:

  • This is a pure alien deck, but it has a mixed strategy, with both mind control cards and synchro monsters.
  • This deck uses Alien Dog more than Alien Ammonite, making it more of an offensive deck than a synchro deck.
  • You can chain the effects of many spell and trap cards to come up with a solution for any situation.

How to play this deck:

  • As there is only one Alien Ammonite, Cosmic Fortress Gol’gar can only be summoned once, so don’t rely on that combo for this deck.
  • Summon Alien Telepath: then, Alien Dog can be special summoned when you normal summon a monster and lets you place 2 A-Counters on your opponent’s monsters. Use Alien Telepath’s ability to remove an A-Counter to destroy a spell or trap card.
  • Mysterious Triangle lets you destroy a monster on the field with A-Counters, and special summon a Level 4 Alien monster from the deck, which will be destroyed during the End Phase.
  • Alien Overlord can be special summoned to the field from your hand by removing 2 A-Counters.
  • With so many A-Counters and Aliens on the field, your opponent’s monsters can be easily destroyed; therefore, this deck doesn’t need many monsters with high ATK..

Recommended Cards in this deck:

  • Alien Ammonite (x1)
  • Alien Telepath (x3)
  • Alien Dog (x3)
  • Alien Warrior (x2)
  • Alien Overlord (x1)
  • Brainwashing Beam (x3)
  • Powerful Rebirth (x3)
  • Mysterious Triangle (x1)
  • Enemy Controller (x2)
  • “A” Cell Recombination Device (x3)
  • Cosmic Fortress Gol’gar (x1)

1. Mind Control Aliens

Use Brainwashing Beam to take control of your opponent's monsters!

This deck is similar to the Free-to-play version, but the biggest difference is the spell and trap cards. It has super and ultra rare cards, all designed to take over your opponent’s monsters. This deck gets first place because it is a pure Alien deck and is very powerful.

This deck is great because:

  • This deck uses your opponent’s strength against them.
  • Due to the nature of this deck, if your opponent summons powerful monsters early in the duel, you can take control of them and win the duel quickly.
  • This is an upgraded version of the Free-To-Play Alien Deck, so if you like that one, this is a perfect step up.

How to play this deck:

  • This is a spell and trap card heavy deck, with fewer monsters.
  • When Alien Warrior is destroyed, it places 2 A-Counters on the monster that destroyed it.
  • Powerful Rebirth brings back any Level 4 monster from the graveyard: bring back Alien Warrior and let it be destroyed for more A-Counters on your opponent’s monsters.
  • Use Brainwashing Beam to control your opponent’s monster, attacking them as long as there are A-Counters on the monster.
  • The skill “Sealed Tombs,” held by Ishizu Ishtar, is a useful defense that keeps both players from special summoning from the graveyard until the opponent’s next turn.

Recommended cards in this deck:

  • Alien Telepath (x2)
  • Alien Warrior (x3)
  • Alien Kid (x2)
  • Alien Overlord (x1)
  • Brainwashing Beam (x3)
  • Powerful Rebirth (x3)
  • Enemy Controller (x2)
  • “A” Cell Recombination Device (x3)
