Whilst the game is completely free to download and play, Duel Links does allow you to make in-app purchases. The majority of cards are free, but some require payment (especially with duplicates). So, for those who prefer not to pay, we’ve compiled a list of the best F2P decks in the game.

5. Ritual Beast

Love a good fusion deck? Well, Ritual Beast excels at that and requires no money to build!

Ritual Beast is a low-cost deck that primarily uses cards from the Spirit of the Beast box; all the cards can be found in the main or mini boxes. It’s a fusion deck that doesn’t use polymerisation and instead lets you special summon by banishing monsters you control. Each fusion monster requires 1 ritual beast tamer and 1 spiritual beast, making them simple to special summon. During either player’s turn, you can return a fusion monster to the extra deck and special summon 2 banished monsters in defence position. This gives you a way to counter effects that target your monsters - all you have to do is make them leave the field.

What is great about this deck:

All the cards come from boxes - no cards are from structure decks or only ticket-exchangeable, making it easy to find the cards.

Most of the cards come from the same box - this makes purchasing packs easier and less expensive  because you can buy most of them  from one box.

You can easily summon fusion monsters - no polymerisation is required and only 2 monsters are required, which makes meeting summoning requirements much simpler and less luck-based.

4. Aromage

For those plant-lovers out there, Aromage is the deck for you

Aromage is a plant-based synchro deck that relies on your LP being higher than your opponent’s. It’s one of the cheapest decks to make, with most of the cards exchangeable from the Card Trader or Tickets. The other cards are mostly from the Fortress of Gears box, and only Solemn Scolding requires a ranked SR ticket for a duplicate (you can get one copy from a level-up reward). Aromage is a fantastic deck full of  LP boosts, ATK boosts, and special summons that make synchro summoning easier.

What is great about this deck:

It’s very cheap - most of the cards are from the Card Trader or tickets. You don’t have to spend a lot of gems on packs to build the deck, nor do you have to rely on luck.

It’s packed with monster effects that have low activation requirements - your LP just needs to be higher than your opponent’s. The deck contains numerous effects that increase your LP, so meeting the requirement is simple.

Dinomist is a pendulum deck centred on water monsters, with the majority of the cards coming from the Photon of Galaxy box. This keeps the deck reasonably cheap; all but one of the cards can be obtained from the main or mini boxes. Only Heavy Armored Train Ironwolf requires you to duel Anna, since the card has a chance of dropping afterwards . Dinomist has many useful pendulum effects; scale 6 monsters can negate and destroy cards that target a Dinomist, whilst scale 3 monsters can sacrifice themselves to stop a Dinomist from being destroyed.

What is great about this deck:

Most of the cards originate from boxes - this makes obtaining them easy.

Most of the cards come from one box - this makes building the deck easier and cheaper since you can focus mainly on one box.

When duelling Yami Yugi, Dark Magician can drop, and only one card in the deck requires a SR ranked ticket (obtainable at 25 PVPwins). Dark Magician relies on special summoning effects to get Dark Magicians onto the field, where you can then Xyz summon powerful rank 7 monsters.

1. Blue-Eyes

Build your very own Blue-Eyes deck without wasting gems!

Blue-Eyes is another OG deck that has received lots of support since its arrival in Duel Links. Most of the cards feature in the Blue-Eyes Evolution structure deck, which makes the Blue-Eyes deck fairly cheap to build. None of the cards are limited to structure decks except for Dragon Spirit of White, which you need only one of, so you don’t have to worry about buying duplicates with real money. Overall, a good number of the cards aren’t obtainable through chance, making the deck fairly easy to construct. Blue-Eyes is a deck that focuses on searchers and special summoning powerful monsters.

What is great about this deck:

It’s relatively cheap - most of the cards are collectable from a single structure deck, whilst the rest are mostly from Judgement Force. Some of the cards are also level-up rewards or starter deck cards, making deck-formation less luck-based and less expensive.

You can easily special summon powerful monsters to the field - using searchers and other monster effects, you can summon high-level monsters without tributing. You can then use them to synchro or Xyz summon powerful rank 8 monsters.

You can special summon from the deck or graveyard - this means you can special summon monsters to the field quickly without having to rely too much on draw luck. This makes the deck quite reliable.
