For those of us who don’t have the money for the game at the moment, there is an option to play Minecraft for free. It’s important to note that this guide is how to get the free version, not the full paid version of the game (though honestly, it still enjoyable).
Step One
First, find a secure place to download the game launcher. I recommend the official Minecraft site. The download is available on the right side of the screen.
Step Two
When you’ve downloaded the installer, run it. The steps will lead you through installing Minecraft in the proper way for your computer.
Step Three
Run the launcher. For the first time that you run the game, you’ll need an internet connection in order to get all of the latest patches and such. After that, offline mode will be available.
Step Four
Play! The free version doesn’t allow you to save, but it does allow you to build and explore, surviving in the world. It’s a great option for casual players, as well as an option to test the game and see if you’re really interested in it before committing to the full version.
