New Pokemon Movie Breaks Rating Record

Pokémon’s latest movie iteration, Pokémon The Movie: I Choose You! is the highest rated one yet, according to fans who have watched the film. With a rating of 8.4/10 on iMDB from 68 different users, it is currently the highest rated Pokémon film of all time. The movie was released in Japan on 15 July 2017 and will have limited screenings at select theatres worldwide on 5-6 November 2017.

Granted that the film has only just released, it is still impressive to see such high ratings so early on. Out of the 64 that have seen the film, 44 have rated it a full ten stars, with only six giving the film one star.

Other sites such as Letterboxd aren’t nearly as positive though. Although only three people have rated the film, the highest rating is a 7/10. It cannot be denied though, so far Pokémon The Movie: I Choose You! is currently the highest rated Pokémon movie in the franchise.

It’s noteworthy simply because all the other Pokémon movies have not met with the same acclaim. The very first Pokémon movie, Mewtwo Strikes Back, is on a 6/10 rating from fans.

Similar ratings for other Pokémon films are common, with the majority being rated from 5.6 to 6.0/10. Still, regardless of other film ratings, the fact that the latest Pokémon movie has such a high rating is astounding.

Given that the film has just released, there aren’t too many people who have seen it. Therefore it’s questionable as to how accurate this rating will remain into the future. Is it the best Pokémon film of all? Who knows? But to those 64 people on iMDB, it most certainly is.
