The Vikingr Way of Battle
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s combat is unique to the franchise of Assassin’s Creed. It takes more aspects of RPGs while introducing new weapons and combos, especially with offhand weapons. Axes claw at foes at a rapid pace, daggers stab and evade, Dane axes have an aoe, and shields simply block. If you want to know good dual wielding combinations, here are my top 5 best dual wielding weapons.
In this top 5 best dual wielding weapons guide, I will exclude the Isu weapons. They are the best legendary weapons in the game, and any of them wielded with anything else is a great pairing. The Isu weapons are at the end of the game when you will already have some of the best tools in your inventory.
5. Varin’s Axe and Housecarl’s Axe best for early game
Varin’s Axe has a unique perk making speed increase per hit. And the Housecarl’s Axe’s perk is to increase damage per hit. With both of these monsters equipped, you will bash a single enemy with a combo and slay the rest with your enhanced dual axes. Both axes are found at the earliest parts of the game. Varin’s Axe is through the story. And Housecarl’s Axe is in Grantebrigdescire east of Ravensthorpe.

4. Sepulcher Axe and Carolingian Longsword best for crit/fire builds
The storm advances
This combination of weapons requires the Heavy Dual Wield skill in the bear tree to wield both of them. What makes dual wielding these so epic are their perks. The Sepulcher Axe’s perk is to ignite your weapons on a crit hit. The Carolingian Longsword’s perk is to increase critical damage after a finisher. However, they may seem a little sluggish because these are both 2-handed blades and you will be wielding them 1-handed.
Dual wielding these large weapons deals massive amounts of raw aoe damage and fire damage. With the addition of crit chance enhancing runes, they become godly. You will be a storm of flaming blades.

The bulwark wall of steel has arrived
If you want to be a death machine, this is the combo for you. Blocking with the Spartan Shield will give you an attack boost. If you are at full health, the Soldier’s Flail gives a significant speed boost. After a block, your flail will do fast, high damage, able to take down a bunch of elites surrounding you. This weapon combination makes you a spinning death machine with high defenses.

An ancient legacy2. Fyrd Axe and Aella’s Bardiche best for hard difficulties and crit builds
A barbarian's rage knows no bounds
It may seem counterintuitive to keep your health below 50%, but with these two beasts, it is worth it. The Fyrd Axe’s perk is to increase crit damage +25 if your health is below 50%. And Aella’s Bardiche’s perk is to increase speed when your health is below 50%, making this weapon combo one of the deadliest.
If you are the type to challenge yourself, try fighting battles without using rations and try to stay at 50% health and these crude-looking axes will dominate the battlefield. You will see these weapon’s perks as glowing runes at the bottom left corner of your screen, when they are active.

A weapon fit for the arena1. Suttungr’s Claw and Yngling Seax best for fast builds
1,000 cuts falls all foes
This duo is hands down the best. All daggers strike extremely quickly, and this fighting style requires a lot of dodging. Both of these weapons’ perks do best in both of these conditions. You may think that you will use a lot more stamina than you can muster, but because of Valhalla’s regeneration system, the more you attack, the more stamina you have. These daggers carried me through the legendary hunts that I was underleveled for.
The Yngling Seax’s perk is to increase damage after a dodge. Suttungr’s Claw increases critical damage after a hit, meaning the more you hit and dodge, the more damage you deal. Paired with the crit chance and damaging enhancing gear, makes this dual wield my number one.

What makes this dual wield the best?
- Constant attacking and dodging making for active and engaging combat
- With damage enhancing equipment, you can rock the game without needing the Isu weapons
- The faster you hit means, the more you damage and crits you dish out
- Builds up adrenaline extremely quickly
How to get Suttungr’s Claw:
Sharper than your Assassin wit
How to get Yngling Seax:
An easy to hide weapon no one will see coming
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla does an amazing job allowing its players to try out anything they want. You dual wield everything but bows. I recommend that everyone needs to try out everything to see what makes you get the best experience from this game. Even if it means dual wielding shields.
