1. Super Mario 64

Super Mario 64 Gameplay Video

Another game that is argued to be the greatest of all time (I am beginning to notice a pattern).  Although it is not the first 3D video game, it epitomizes what they should be. No longer are there linear levels, with timers and finish lines.  Super Mario 64 promotes open world levels, with multiple objectives that can be tackled in almost any order.  This sandbox nature, mixed with Mario’s wholesome move-set creates a classic adventure that should be on every gamer’s play-list.

Although it is not the first 3D platformer, Super Mario 64 is credited for being one of the first to show how fun they can be!

Even boss fights have evolved into the 3D realm.  It just takes a new perspective. So long Bowser!
