06 May 2024

Are you a Spider-Man fan who wants to web up some bad guys? There’s a lot of Spider-Man games out there, and let me tell you, they’re not all good.

You know how some people have a face only a mother can love? Well, most Spider-man games are games only Spider-man fans can love.

If you’re a big fan of the webhead, you’ll appreciate even a bad Spider-Man game for what it brings to the table, storywise. If you’re not a big Spider-Man fan, then some of these games might not be for you.

That being said, here are the best Spider-Man games you can find for your PC.

10. Spider-Man: Edge Of Time

Released: 2011 for PC / PlayStation 3 / Xbox 360 / Wii

Don’t make Spider-man 2099 mad

Story Overview:

This game is the tale of two Spidermen: Peter Parker & Miguel O’Hara.

O’Hara, living in the year 2099, sees a vision of Peter getting killed in his time. O’Hara must now travel back in time and help Peter save his own life.

This game is a sequel to Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions.

What Makes This Game Awesome:

  • This game doesn’t have the best reputation, but playing as two different Spidermen is always cool.
  • The game will automatically switch between the two heroes during the story. Peter with the “hyper-sense” ability, letting him move faster and beat up foes easier, and Miguel with the ability to create fake versions of himself to distract his enemies.
  • If you’re a fan of the Spider-Man 2099 series, this game is a must-play.

Never look Venom in the eyes

Story Overview:

Spider-Man teams up with Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D to take down symbiotic creatures who are infused with holographic technology.

This is one of those convoluted Spider-man stories that may not always make sense, but it’s fun to watch.

What Makes This Game Awesome:

  • The first thing that makes this game awesome is that the costumes are based on the Sam Rami movies. It’s cool swinging around, looking like Tobey Maguire.
  • In fact, many of the scenes in that movie series are recreated in this game. This game is not canon with the series, but it’s still cool.
  • Also, there’s a ton of cool cameos like Iron Fist and Blade.

It’s always tough fighting a dark version of yourself.

Story Overview:

Spider-Man teams up with Wolverine(!) to take down Venom and the many victims he infected with his symbiote.

What Makes This Game Awesome:

  • Right off the bat, Wolverine! Any game with Wolverine gets a few points thrown at it.
  • The game lets you switch from the traditional Spider-Man suit and the black symbiote suit.   Each suit provides different upgrades and abilities.
  • There’s also a reputation system that considers your actions to determine if Spider-Man is seen as a hero or feared as a villain.

Spider vs. Lizard
Story Overview:

This game is based on the Andrew Garfield movie of the same name.

The game is set months after the film, where Peter and Gwen have to team up with The Lizard to take down a new Oscorp director, Alistair Smythe.

What Makes This Game Awesome:

  • It’s cool being able to play a game that is basically an extension of the original movie. If you’re a fan of the Andrew Garfield movies, this story should be up your alley.
  • This game also brings in “web-rush,” a bullet time mechanic that lets you get the upper hand on your enemies. This mechanic is similar to the same mechanic used in the Batman: Arkham games.

6. The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Released: 2014 for PC / PlayStation 4 / PlayStation 3 / Xbox One / Xbox 360 / Wii U

At this point, if you’re a bad guy and you see Spider-Man, you should just run
Story Overview:

This game is the direct sequel to the first The Amazing Spider-Man game and a continuation of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie.

In this game, Peter learns that the man who killed Uncle Ben was murdered by a serial killer named Cletus Kasady. Cletus is also killing other criminals, and Peter must find and stop him.

Peter teams up with Kraven The Hunter to track Cletus down, not knowing that the true carnage is about to begin.

What Makes This Game Awesome:

  • The storyline is very intriguing, and it’s cool to think of this game as basically a sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
  • The morality system from the first game is back as well, this time allowing you to become a “menace” if you choose.

Spider-man always swings with style

Story Overview:

The game reenacts the movie, Spider-Man 3. That might seem like a problem at first, considering the fact that Spider-Man 3 is not the most liked film.

But as it turns out, playing the Spider-Man 3 story is much better as a game than as a movie.

The story follows the same beats, with Harry Osborn turning into The Green Goblin and Peter having to deal with Venom. But in this version, The Lizard is involved.

Dr. Conners / The Lizard is the same character that was set up in previous Spider-Man movies.  This character was supposed to be fully realized in Spider-Man 4, but the movie never happened.

So part of the story in this game is the closest thing we’re going to get to a Sam Rami sequel to Spider-Man 3.

What Makes This Game Awesome:

  • The original cast from the Sam Rami movies shows up to voice their characters.
  • Plus, you get to play as The Green Goblin!

Spider-Man showing off his dodging skills

Story Overview:

Spider-Man must collect the 17 fragments of the Tablet of Order and Chaos. This sends Peter on an interdimensional adventure around the Spider-Verse to collect these fragments and save all of existence.

What Makes This Game Awesome:

  • This game is set in the Spider-Verse and lets you play as four different Spider-Men.
  • You get to play as the original Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2099, Ultimate Spider-Man, and Spider-Man Noir. Each Spider-Man has unique abilities and powers.
  • The story itself is a fun one as well, involving a ton of Marvel cameos. Even Deadpool shows up.

3. Ultimate Spider-Man

Venom is always a wild card

Story Overview:

This story exists in the ultimate universe with an alternate version of the Peter Parker we know and love.

In this story, Peter is childhood friends with Eddie Brock. The two of them find a black suit (the venom suit) and now must share this new power in order to defeat the Green Goblin.

What Makes This Game Awesome:

  • As far as Spider-Man games go, this one is a classic.
  • It’s awesome playing as both Spider-Man and Venom, and after the main story is finished, you get to switch between the two at any time.
  • In a time when there weren’t too many great superhero games, this game truly stood out.

2. Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales

Released: 2020 For PC / PlayStation 5 / PlayStation 4

Kicking a bad guy in mid-air never gets old

Story Overview:

After getting bit by a radioactive spider, Miles Morales discovers that he has the same powers (plus more) as Peter Parker. With these new powers, Miles must stop Simon Krieger from destroying the city.

To complicate things even more, Miles must deal with The Tinkerer, a supervillain he discovers is his best friend from childhood.

This game is a spin-off/sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man.

What Makes This Game Awesome:

  • There’s just something about swinging around in this game. There’s almost no way to describe it. You have to play the game to understand how great it feels.
  • One of the biggest differences between this game and Marvel’s Spider-Man is Miles's new powers. You get to use “venom” powers that let you electrify your enemies, and camouflage powers, allowing you to sneak around and attack your foes from behind.
  • These new powers bring an interesting twist to the gameplay, making an amazing game even more enjoyable.
  • If this game wasn’t so short, it would have topped this list.

1. Marvel’s Spider-Man

Released 2018 for PC / PlayStation 5 / PlayStation 4

Is there a superhero more fun to play than Spider-Man?

Story Overview:

The story for this game is the best story of any Spider-Man.

On the surface, the story is a simple one. Peter Parker must stop Doc Ock from destroying New York.

But the way that this story unfolds is masterful. The story builds up and explodes in the third act in a way that feels like a long movie or a year-long comic book arc.

The story in this game is one of the best Spider-Man stories you can find.

What Makes This Game Awesome:

  • Much like Miles Morales, the feel of this game is unparalleled. Just swinging around the city doing nothing is fun in this game. That’s how good the feel is.
  • Sure, the combat system may be simplistic in ways, but at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter because of how good it feels just being Spider-Man.
  • This game is the first time a Spider-Man game truly made you feel like Spider-Man.
