The M4 is a staple assault rifle when it comes to modern Call of Duty titles. It is always a fun and versatile weapon that can be built and played in many ways. It isn’t always a meta weapon but is always a viable choice to use.
The M4 has many great builds but I have chosen the 3 best builds at their given qualities that are also vastly different from one another. Some of the attachments can be swapped out with others based on preference which I will mention below. However at their core these are the best M4 builds.
3. SMG BuildImage
This is the SMG M4 build and while it is not quite as SMG like as you could make it in Modern Warfare 2019 I’m sure you’ll find success with this build. We have equipped this M4 with a shorter barrel and the buffer tube for the most mobility we could get then rounded off the build with the other attachments.
This weapon plays just like an SMG but hits a little harder and shoots a little slower. It is a fun weapon to run around with and if you’re able to manage the recoil it has excellent range since it’s still an assault rifle. You can swap the 60 round magazine for a rear grip or swap the optic for something different as well if you would prefer more stats than bullets.
Attachments:
- Muzzle: Casus Brake
- Barrel: 11.5” Carbine Shroud
- Optic: Nydar Model 2023
- Magazine: 60 Round Mag
- Stock: Demo D50 Buffer Tube
What The SMG Build Excels In:
- Close quarters engagements with the faster mobility
- Taking multiple enemies out with the increased mag size
- Fast sprint out time for swinging close corners
- Quick rotations and ability to more jump spots
- Great secondary in Warzone game modes
2. No Recoil BuildImage
This build was created to have as little recoil as possible to contend with a weapon like the MCW that also has little to no recoil. We are using the Hightower 20” Barrel to get us most of this stat as well as the Sakin ZX Grip which will give us the most recoil control.
This weapon is great at the longer ranges while maintaining a decent enough ADS speed to get enemies in those closer than expected situations. You will be able to beam enemies at any range on the newer maps that have a lot of longer angles. You could swap the Optic for a stock if you wanted even less recoil but having an optic helps a lot with the visual recoil on this gun so I would recommend keeping one on.
Attachments:
- Muzzle: ELR Blackfire Compensator
- Barrel: Hightower 20” Barrel
- Optic: Slate Reflector
- Underbarrel: Commando Foregrip
- Rear Grip: Sakin ZX Grip
What The No Recoil Build Excels In:
- Great for long ranged gun fights because of no recoil and better bullet velocity and damage range
- Good for a more passive or controlling playstyle
- Decent primary for Warzone game modes
- Good for slower paced players because it takes longer to pull the weapon up
1. Balanced BuildImage
This loadout is a more balanced approach with the M4 that will keep recoil manageable with a great ADS and sprint out speed. We changed a few attachments around for ones that give slightly different pros with less damaging cons to our mobility to make this happen.
This weapon is great to run around and gun with in the medium ranges but can struggle in the really far ones compared to the no recoil build. However it is definitely more usable in the situations where you get caught out of position. You could swap the Magazine for an Optic to remove that visual recoil and you could swap the Rear Grip to the Sakin if you want more recoil without hurting the mobility too much.
Attachments:
- Muzzle: L4R Flash Hider
- Barrel: Hightower 20” Barrel
- Magazine: 45 Round Magazine
- Underbarrel: Xten Phantom-5 Handstop
- Rear Grip: Xten Grip
What The Balanced Build Excels in:
- Great for running and gunning because it is well rounded
- Good for Medium ranges because of lower recoil and good handling
- Great for any map size but is best on medium sized maps
- Ability to take out multiple enemies without reloading from 15 round mag
- Good build for controller players because of visual recoil
