[Top 15] Garry's Mod Best Servers (2020 Edition)

Garry's Mod Best Servers
Servers, but not the bad ones. You totally know what I mean by that, don't pretend you don't.

[Top 15] Garry's Mod Best Servers (2020 Edition)

So Garry’s Mod is all about the funny G-man posing right? … Could you feel my eyes rolling from here? No? Dam, I wish I was a good writer. But instead, I am a writer who loves the interaction between myself and my fellow gamers. Garry’s Mod servers are the greatest aspect of the game. You can meet literally anyone, at any age and from literally anywhere.

My history with Garry’s Mod servers is heavy with both wholesome and trollish interactions. I used to be a Super Admin on a Trouble in Terrorist Town server named -BROALLIANCE- (BA for short). The BA servers special add ons were mostly on the backend, but they did have a few unique traitor weapons and an awesome community. But I was never a strict Admin; I would rather everyone have fun than trying to always follow the rules.

So that is the mindset I use when playing most of these servers. I like to troll, but I am not going to argue with the wholesomeness of some of the content. I will judge these servers based on their content, popularity and overall experience with my time on the server.

15. Garry’s Mod Cruise Ship Line

Let's start with something really interesting. Years ago, a gamemode called GMod Tower combined a few hundred addons and became one of the biggest servers in Garry’s Mod history, which led them to make their own game. Cruise Ship Line has the same feel to me. It's still in its infancy, but I have big hopes to race mini-karts and fight zombies again with friends. Great progress has been made so far and I can't wait to see where this goes!

What’s awesome about this server:

  • Custom player models, rooms and hopefully more.

  • Still in its open beta, so you can experience a dedicated team building something around you.

  • If it's even close to Gmod Tower, then it's going to be one of the biggest communities in the game. Period. Hopefully.

14. SuperiorServers DARKRP DankTown

DankTown is a fun DarkRP map that has a huge amount of people on it. This is your mass multiplayer heaven for DarkRP, and I didnt have too much trouble getting into the gameplay. A lot of screaming though, which, of course it's DarkRP. The average age is a little… young.

What’s awesome about this server:

  • Custom map that is a blast to explore and play.

  • Huge server that often has a lot of players online.

  • The staff waited a few minutes before banning me; You can't beat that kind of service!

Server Details:

  • IP: RP.SuperiorServer.co

  • Player limit: 128

  • Check out their website here: SuperiorServers.co

13. GFLClan TTT Rotation

A fun server with a huge amount of people playing on it everyday. Mostly a vanilla server as well, making it a faster download time than most TTT servers. Custom knives almost make me want to try Counter Strike again… but bad gamer is bad. And my teammates keep telling me so.

What’s awesome about this server:

  • I love playing TTT with a mass amount of people; the chaos is truly fun.

  • Vanilla servers are great for people trying to find other people to play with or who are trying out new servers.

  • The community is fun with a ton of different types of people; 36 players on one map will make one troll into 10 and 26 others into saints.

12. Icefuse.net Military RP

An interesting take on a very overused gamemode. IceFuse.net has one big thing going for it: its community. I have had some great times playing this Arma like gamemode with a few friends and a lot of randoms. I laughed, I cried and I died a lot of times.

What’s awesome about this server:

  • A huge server that has people on it constantly. Fun to jump into randomly and really get into the action.

  • Great feel to the tanks, guns and general gameplay. It's almost like I am playing Squad.

  • “I swear I don't just shoot random people. I plan to shoot them first.” The best line to say to an admin.

Server Details:

  • IP: 208.103.169.27:27017

  • Player limit: 128

  • Check out their website here: Icefuse.net

11. GFLClans Clone Wars RP (Semi-serious)

Alright, it's another GFL Clan server. They are a huge community on Garry’s Mod, so you need to get over that right now. This server in particular is great; it's Star Wars and it's not super serious.

Think Arma 3, but with blasters and in space. There is always a huge population online and it's never a bad time to jump in and try to find that damn droid.

What’s awesome about this server:

  • Newer gamemode that has taken Garry’s Mod by storm. Very popular.

  • Great intro server to Garry’s Mod roleplaying. The staff and community help newer players learn the ropes.

  • Clone Wars was always the best anime.  Don’t @ me.

Server Details:

10. GFLClan Prop Hunt

Another GFL Clans server that is based on the finer things in life; Vanilla Prop Hunt. mmmhm. The most ordinary kind of Prop Hunt. But, they do run the newer version of Prop Hunt, so expect a little more stable type of gameplay. Well, as stable as 45 people all connecting to a server at one time can be.

What’s awesome about this server:

  • It has the newer version of Prop Hunt that includes rotating props and a better UI.

  • No addons make download times faster.

  • Some of these guys have the “jukes”. Fun community that is very chill.

9. CosmicNetworks.co DarkRP

Another DarkRP server to mention is CosmicNewtworks.co. This is a great server with a ton of memories for me. It also has quite a few addons that make the game more… interesting. Of course I'm talking about the Bitminer. Nothing else.

There is some adult content on this server. Just giving you a warning before you jump straight in. Nothing too crazy, but it is DARKRP.

What’s awesome about this server:

  • A heavily modified DarkRP server with a few crazy things to try out.

  • A huge server population that mostly wanted me dead. In all honesty though, I don't really disagree with them.

  • A great spin on the classic DarkRP gamemode.

Server Details:

  • IP: 208.103.169.60:27015

  • Player limit: 106

  • Check out their website here: CosmicNetworks.co

8. GFL Zombie Survival

I love me some Zombie Survival. This server in particular is great if you wantyou have a want to play with a lot of people,in fact, up to 100 but not 100 other people. This server also includes a pointshop and adventure maps made for Zombie Survival. A good large  medium sized server for one of the best GameModes to play during spooky time.

What’s awesome about this server:

  • Zombie Survival has always been a great time. Play as different zombies and climb those props!

  • Fun and friendly enough server. Had a few laughs while hunting people down.

  • Great map selection and always a populated server.

Server Details:

7. GarnetGaming.net Murder

Okay, I am a sucker for something simple. Garnet Gamings Prop Hunt server is both complex and super simple. Imagine, construct, all the time. The most basic map ever, while the server has a leveling system and crate system. Truely, we live in the future of gaming.

What’s awesome about this server:

  • Gm_Construct is the only map you ever need to play. And it's the last map you'll ever again.

  • Leveling system brings a new twist to a great older gamemode.

  • Hurray! My crate addiction is slowly becoming more and more of a problem!

Server Details:

  • IP: 208.103.169.33:27022

  • Player limit: 35

  • Check out their website here: GarnetGaming.net

6. Swamp Cinema

Formerly Cereal Box, Swamp Cinema is literally the Swamp of all servers. Period. Bots that play crazy music and sound clips:. Check. People killing you for no reason:. Check. Pony heaven:. Check.

Seriously, this server is an experience, and it's something everyone needs to check out. There are so many add ons and extras to this cinema server; It might as well be its own gamemode. This server is a great way to end a night or to waste time on a lazy afternoon. Just, watch out for people saying adult films are playing in a certain theater; they just want to kill you with a suicide bomb.

What’s awesome about this server:

  • Everything. Mini-golf, a knife pit, several server screening rooms and a moon base.

  • An awesome server full of great experiences. Just don't go into the sewers.

  • Totally customizable player models… well if you like ponies that is. Then it's just kind of customizable.

Server Details:

5. SBS HogWarts RP

Mister Potter, is that a gravity gun? HogWarts RP is another game mode taking over the Garry's Mod role playing scene. It's a fun time, but the mods don't really like it when you kill everyone in Gryffindor. Also, you can run into the woods and find evil stuff to kill… or be killed by. It's a great time.

What’s awesome about this server:

  • Interesting role playing server with some really diehard RP community members.

  • Teach a class over potions, or watch a 9 year old try to teach a class about drinking blood. (yea, that happened to me).

  • This is your only chance to join Hufflepuff. Don't squander this opportunity.

Server Details:

4. DCDeathRunners

Deathrun can be a crazy gamemode. One minute you're the king of the world, the next you're more dead than Garry's Mod’s Lifepunch servers. (Too soon). This server has all the fixings: Jukebox, Knives,Autojump and even vamping. It's a millenials dream!

What’s awesome about this server:

  • Deathrun is one of my favorite chill game modes. It takes death and killing; and makes its chillin.

  • Knives and Vapes help you improve your swagger while you die to that patch of explosive krabby patties.

  • Autojump is a must for any gamemode with bunny hopping. Once again, don't @ me gamer.

3. Moat.gg TTT

Moat.gg TTT’s servers are… good. I'll level with you all, I am a huge fan of FRG. But that doesnt mean Moat isn't fun. It's the opposite really. The two servers are so similar, and Moat.gg is easier to pick up if you're not familiar with an inventory system, custom weapons, custom maps and an upgraded UI. I admit that my friends and I play Moat from time to time. The games are fun, minigames are common and the community can be toxic as hell. Just how I like it.

What’s awesome about this server:

  • Moat brings TTT to the next level with custom guns, UI, an inventory system and custom minigames.

  • Rounds are short and fun. TTT has always been a lighter role play, and this server is no exception.

  • Guns are neat and leveling up can be easy if you know what you are doing.

  • No, I won't bash on you guys. Someday, I dream we can all ban together... and hate on some other server. Together.

Server Details:

  • Multiple servers; I recommend looking up an open server in the TTT server browser.

  • Player limit: 28

  • Check out their website here: Moat.GG

2. Moat.gg TTC

An interesting little experiment done by one of the biggest Trouble in Terrorist Town communities. If you have ever played Mafia the card game or Town of Salem, you will be familiar with this gamemode. Each player has a role and must complete the role to win. The server also has Moats guns and inventory system, which makes the game mode more replayable.

  • IP: 208.103.169.54:27020

  • Player limit: 28.

  • Check out their website here: Moat.GG

1. FRG TTT

Finally, I have my favorite server of all time. ForeRunnerGaming’s Trouble In Terrorist Town server is one of my favorites for a few hundred reasons. The gun selection is amazing and is always growing. The content created by BrassX is pretty refined, and the community can be very welcoming. It also can be a little toxic, but I think the server has a good mix of people willing to help new people, and people willing to yell “I’M TOUCHING YOU”.

Two other things make FRG stand out: Their lobby and the crate system. Once you're done with TTT for the night, stop by the lobby to play events, dungeons, minigames, craft weapons, fish and gamble. Or, open one of the many personalized crates to get crazy and interesting guns. All of which is made by a handful of people you might have actually played with in the TTT server.

Obviously I am biased, but playing servers like WOGS and Moat doesn't quite scratch my itch for customization and light role playing like FRG does. I think as a server, people are mostly relaxed and just want to feed their steadily growing crate addiction.

What’s awesome about this server:

  • A great spin on the classic TTT gamemode with a custom inventory, custom player models and a huge selection of overpowered guns.

  • The lobby server is a great addition and a great place to kill Santa. Over. And over again.

  • Seasonal updates and new events are added constantly. Battlepasses, Challenge Scrolls and Dailies makes most players return to the server daily.

  • A very active community that prides itself on dank memes and Stormforged dreams. Or maybe that's just me.

Server Details:

  • IP: Multiple servers, but try 192.223.30.21:27015 for TTT #1

  • Player limit: 21

  • Check out their website here: FRG.GG

That's it, I did it. I made the whole Garry’s Mod community mad at me in one fail swoop. Ah, but seriously:, it's the community that makes every server great. I went through quite a few versions of this article with servers that had bad staff or just a toxic community. Ultimately, how the servers treat new people, how they keep their content fresh and new, and how they choose to troll will really make or break their server. -BA- finally ended for a few reasons, but I always thought the server staff and community members made the game interesting and fun for everyone.

I hope to someday write down the history of some of the greatest Garry’s Mod servers. I think people have some great memories of servers and communities that can't be beat. I just wonder how many of those stories end with “But then my mom said I had to go to bed”. Cheers.
