[Top 10] Garry's Mod Best Adventure Maps

Garry's Mod Best Adventure Maps
Are you ready for an adventure, sweetie?

Which are the most enjoyable adventure maps in Gmod?

Are you bored of playing darkRP and TTT? Do you want to experience an adventure that will make you either soil your pantaloons or just make you go ‘’wow, this map was cool’’ - I’m gonna show you my list of favorite adventure/horror maps that I’ve played and enjoyed. And, if you don’t have any friends(like me), do not worry! These maps can be played in single-player, if you’re fortunate to have a friend, feel free to invite him on an awesome adventure!

10. The Great Escape!

I was greatly conflicted with myself whether to include this map or not in the top 10, this map might not feel like anything super special, but for me, that was the point - this map is simple - sounds of distant helicopters and gunshots awake you in your apartment and you know that you’ll have to shoot your way through the hordes of combines to escape. No puzzles, no bullshhh… Just run and shoot.

What this map is good at:

●Simple and fun ’’ run ‘n’ shoot’’ gameplay.

●The map does not require any other games.

●It is action-packed and fun to play with friends.

9. coop_fog

Look, look, I can explain, I know that the name of the map has ‘’CO-OP’’ in it, but you DO NOT need to have a friend to play this map… sheesh!

In simple words, you’re stranded in a creepy facility, squeezing in through tight corridors to find out what the hell is going on. It doesn’t have any complicated puzzles and it’s pretty slow-paced in the first half.

What this map is good at:

●The author did a great job of creating a creepy-horror atmosphere.

●Cramped map design, contributes to the creepy factor.

●Multiple endings are possible.

8. Lasers - Heist

Lasers - Heist is a fast-paced, action-packed map that forces you to move quickly. There’s more than just a group of combines brainlessly shooting at you. If you’re out of time and you’re in deadly need of having fun, this map is for you!

What this map is good at:

● Forces you to think strategically and fast.

●The design of this map reminds me a lot of SUPERHOT, simple colors, and most of the time tight corridors.

●Playing this map with weapon mods and slow motion is, like I said, a lot like SUPERHOT.

7. Rescue Her

It’s a fairly long storyline map filled with puzzles and spooky scary jumpscares. Not gonna lie, this map made me poop myself a few times(but only a few times). As the title suggests, you have to abandon your car and find your lost wifey. The map is very open, therefore playing with your friends is not a bad idea. You can poop yourselves together!

What this map is good at:

●Multiple puzzles with a little number of bugs.

●Does a great job of creating a creepy atmosphere.

●The map has an enjoyable storyline with key characters.

●The map offers you more than 1 ending.

6. Forest Train

It’s pretty similar to Lasers - Heist, the difference being is that this map has better visuals and it’s slightly longer. Action-packed fun with a short storyline, help out a group of city 17 refugees before the evil combine soldiers decide to spank their buttocks.

What this map is good at:

●Eye pleasing map design(straight forward and pretty).

●Despite voice acting appearing for only a brief time, it sounded very decent.

●A lot like Lasers - Heist, action-packed and fun.

5. Year Long Alarm

This map is prettier than my imaginary girlfriend. Despite it looking incredible, this map also offers action and a short storyline. You’re discovered by the ‘’paparazzi’’ and have to make your way to the rebel outpost while dealing with puzzles and dangerous enemies.

GOD, this map is pretty! Gets to show you how much heart some authors put into their work.

What this map is good at:

●It has puzzles that are bug-free.

●The visuals are incredible, never seen anything like it!

●Feels like a map that was made by Valve.

●The fighting seems fair and balanced.

4. Station 51

This is a fun and great map. this time you don’t have to worry about it ending too soon. Takes place in the Half-life timeline, offers plenty of puzzles and plenty of action, generally, the map takes around 30-40 minutes to finish. This map differentiates itself with how well the different environments blend in together and how awesomely immersive it is. As for the plot, you’re a lonely rebel who’s discovered by the combine and must fight his way through many difficult enemies.

What this map is good at:

●Well-paced action that lasts for a long time.

●Smart map design, levels are progressing and leaves you with multiple ways of killing your foes.

●Gives the player a great sense of immersion.

3. Avenue Odessa

This map does a great job of making you hate Odessa Cubbage even more, I hated the prick in Half-Life 2 and I hate him here. But anyway, you have to help him escape city 17 before the citadel self-destructs. You’re not Odessa’s first volunteer to help, as you’ll find out later.

This map is good at:

●It has top-notch voice acting, funny and nice to listen to and creates cool immersion.

●The map’s visuals look great, can be compared to ‘’Year Long Alarm’’.

●Ridiculous(in a good way) ending.

●Not being able to shoot Odessa in the face.

2. Half-Life 2: Cosmonaut

Don’t be deceived by the name, anything in this mod that has to do with the term ‘’cosmonaut’’ appears only in the beginning and at the end of the map. Despite that, it’s one of my favorite mods - filled with puzzles and action. From the intro alone you’ll know that you’re not dealing with another average mod, but a well-done masterpiece.

What’s great about this mod:

●It’s quite a long adventure, took me around 1.5 hours to finish it, and had a lot of fun.

●The environment is constantly changing, encounter very diverse surroundings as you progress.

●The mod has cutscenes with very well done voice acting.

●Creative and fun puzzles that don’t require a brainlet like me to use too much brainpower!

1. Research and Development

Hands down one of the most jaw-dropping mods I have ever played. The author put his heart and soul to create such a polished, intelligent and creative piece of art. If you are looking for content, then this mod will grab you by the ears and scream ‘’CONTENT’’ into your face. Smart, satisfying puzzles are 90% of the gameplay!

What’s great about this mod:

●Like mentioned earlier, puzzles. They are very well thought out and fun to complete.

●I played this mod multiple times and never encountered a single bug.

●It has its cutscenes and humor.

●Creative boss fights that require you to think, instead of mashing LMB.

●This map lets you finish itself without firing a single bullet.

Truly, the source community can come up with great ideas, one of them was introducing single-player or co-op adventure maps. Although I have spent thousands of hours in zombie survival, deathrun, roleplay, Morbus and many more servers, I would always convince myself to play some random adventure map from the workshop with my friends and generate awesome memories! You won’t find an experience similar to that anywhere else.
