[Top 5] Hearthstone Best Elwynn Decks That Are Excellent

Causes 120 damage per second with an instant mana burn, ouch!

What Are The Best Elwynn Boar Decks in Hearthstone?

Originally a running gag from the critically acclaimed animated TV series South Park, Elwynn Boar’s introduction was a pleasant surprise to many. Befitting its status, the power rewarded by the sword is only overshadowed by the steep conditions needed to possess it.

Elwynn Boar became an immediate meme card due to the extremely stringent criteria that made it necessary to create a whole deck of other cards to support it. The Hearthstone community acted immediately and came up with many ways to win with this overpowered sword. We’ve gathered the top 5 best Elwynn Boar decks of Hearthstone here:

5. Elwynn Resurrect Paladin (Wild)

One for the squire, two for the gnome, three for the glory, and GO, GO, GO!

Let’s face it, Resurrect Paladin is just a Paladin trying its hardest to look like a Priest. Having said that, a Paladin Elwynn Boar deck does have its advantages, particularly in its diversity of resurrection methods.

With a healthy mix of boar shuffling from Northshire Farmer and a couple of resurrection tools, this deck has more than enough fuel to finish the boar’s requirement. Equipped with a cartoonishly legendary sword, there will be no foe that can stand in your path toward sure victory.

What’s great about this deck:

  • Anti-disruption: The multiple ways to resurrect your boar prevents combo-busters such as Theotar from instantly destroying your win condition
  • Divine Favor: This card stands out as an excellent card cycling tool for Paladin, especially effective when you are against decks that hold a lot of cards in their hand
  • Anti-aggro: City Tax serves as one of Paladin’s strongest cards, thanks to the immediate health swing it provides on top of the AOE damage against minions

Cards:

  • 2x (1) Crystology
  • 2x (1) Elwynn Boar
  • 2x (1) Getaway Kodo
  • 2x (1) Redemption
  • 1x (2) Bloodmage Thalnos
  • 2x (2) City Tax
  • 2x (2) Desperate Stand
  • 2x (2) Flash of Light
  • 2x (2) Loot Hoarder
  • 2x (2) Sword of the Fallen
  • 2x (3) Divine Favor
  • 2x (3) Gift of Luminance
  • 1x (3) Lord Barov
  • 2x (3) Northshire Farmer
  • 2x (4) Call to Arms
  • 2x (4) Rally!

4. Elwynn Miracle Rogue (Wild)

Unfortunately, there's no potion that can make you unsee all the faces in that bottle.

Inspired by the Quest Rogue of old, this Elwynn Rogue deck lives and dies by how well you can utilize your Potion of Illusion. Purely going by win conditions, this deck does not have much choice but to commit to completing your Sword of a Thousand Truths, as the deck is mostly composed of supporting cards.

Fortunately, the massive discounts and card draw inherent in the Miracle Rogue package means that you should be able to completely draw your combo pieces before midgame. Upon completion of your win condition, the plentiful minion removal cards available will buy you enough alone time to completely smash the enemy’s health and win the game.

What’s great about this deck:

  • Extremely fast card cycling: Even by Miracle Rogue standards, this deck draws out your combo pieces swiftly, thanks to Field Contact and other minions available to you
  • Mana discount: Efficient Octo-bot can easily discount up to 10 mana in this deck since you will be holding a lot of cards in your hand
  • Minion disruption: Many minion removal tools are available in this deck, including Coerce and even Mage spells from Wand Thief

Cards:

  • 2x (0) Preparation
  • 2x (1) Animated Broomstick
  • 2x (1) Elwynn Boar
  • 2x (1) Prize Plunderer
  • 2x (1) Secret Passage
  • 2x (1) Wand Thief
  • 2x (2) Dirty Tricks
  • 2x (2) Foxy Fraud
  • 2x (2) Swindle
  • 1x (3) Coerce
  • 2x (3) Efficient Octo-bot
  • 2x (3) Field Contact
  • 2x (3) Shroud of Concealment
  • 2x (4) Cloak of Shadows
  • 2x (4) Potion of Illusion
  • 1x (4) Scabbs Cutterbutter

3. Elwynn Taunt Druid (Wild)

Even the moon goddess needs to back up her databases.

Taking advantage of the already complete Taunt-Beast package, this card list adds more weight and straps some armor to your Elwynn Boar. While the primary win condition still requires you to generate multiple copies of the boar, mana-efficient cards such as Thickhide Kodo give you plenty of breathing space and can even deliver you a victory on their own.

That is not to say that this deck lacks the cards to properly activate the Elwynn Boar. On the contrary, the synergy between Oracle of Elune and Mark of the Spikeshell makes it so that you can activate the boar’s Deathrattle effect fairly quickly. Whether you want to hack and slash your enemy with a sword or trample them under your beast’s hooves, this deck will give you plenty of chances to do so.

What’s great about this deck:

  • Taunt Threat: This deck presents a unique advantage in being able to play on curve as a Taunt Druid while also protecting your Oracle of Elune
  • On-board duplication: Oracle of Elune duplicates your Elwynn Boar, allowing you to save hand space and reduce the draws needed to activate the boar’s Deathrattle effect
  • Stat-buffing: In line with the Taunt Druid playstyle, Northshire Farmer and the other Beast synergies lets you buff and reshuffle your boar and play as a midrange deck using all your minion buff cards

Cards:

  • 1x (1) Animated Broomstick
  • 2x (1) Elwynn Boar
  • 2x (1) Nature Studies
  • 2x (2) Composting
  • 2x (2) Encumbered Pack Mule
  • 2x (2) Guess the Weight
  • 2x (2) Ironbark
  • 2x (2) Living Seed (Rank 1)
  • 2x (2) Loot Hoarder
  • 2x (2) Mark of the Spikeshell
  • 2x (2) Razormane Battleguard
  • 2x (3) Northshire Farmer
  • 2x (3) Oracle of Elune
  • 1x (3) Teron Gorefiend
  • 2x (4) Thickhide Kodo
  • 2x (6) Best in Shell

2. Elwynn Beast Hunter (Wild)

Never underestimate a lioness when her pride is on the line.

Rexxar taps into the power of this beast from another universe in this Elwynn Beast Hunter deck.

Mok’Nathal Lion stands out as the hero for this deck, not only providing you with another tool to activate the boar’s effect but also one of the best catch-up cards available for Hunters.

Like most other decks in this list, Hunter also has tools like Teron Gorefiend and Devouring Swarm to provide you with tools to play Elwynn Boar over and over again and crush your enemy with overwhelming boar value.

What’s great about this deck:

  • Multiple copies of Elwynn Boar: Devouring Swarm serves as a great card to bounce back Elwynn Boar, especially if you have multiple copies present in the board already
  • Card cycling: Rustrot Viper and Tracking allows you to thin out your deck, a rarity for the Hunter class which suffers from a lack of card draw
  • Early curve: This Beast Hunter deck focuses on completing its win condition early on so that you can have more turns to swing your 15/3 weapon

Cards:

  • 2x (0) Devouring Swarm
  • 2x (1) Animated Broomstick
  • 2x (1) Armor Vendor
  • 2x (1) Elwynn Boar
  • 1x (1) Overwhelm
  • 2x (1) Resizing Pouch
  • 2x (1) Rocket Augmerchant
  • 1x (1) Sphere of Sapience
  • 2x (1) Tracking
  • 2x (1) Wound Prey
  • 2x (2) Explosive Sheep
  • 2x (2) Loot Hoarder
  • 2x (2) Selective Breeder
  • 2x (3) Rustrot Viper
  • 1x (3) Shan’do Wildclaw
  • 1x (3) Teron Gorefiend
  • 2x (4) Mok’Nathal Lion

1. Elwynn Resurrect Priest (Standard)

Didn't seem to work out too well for this guy.

Perhaps the only boar deck that saw serious experimentation and fame in the meta, it almost feels like Elwynn Boar was made to be a class card for Priest. Making heavy use of Amulet of Undying’s synergy with Priest’s draw tools, this Combo Priest deck can equip the Sword of a Thousand Truths faster than any other class can.

To add insult to injury for your opponent, Xyrella, the Devout even re-equips this game-winning sword in case any weapon tech cards are played. That’s a total of 90 damage from your weapon alone, piercing through all the health and armor that your opponent can muster.

What’s great about this deck:

  • Card draw: All Elywnn combo decks need sufficient card draw tools and ways to resurrect their boars. Thankfully, Priest satisfies these requirements through cards like Amulet of Undying and Handmaiden
  • Multiple resurrections: Priest can resurrect the Elwynn Boar multiple times, providing value since the card is played on the board instantly
  • “Alternate” win condition: Xyrella, the Devout can re-equip the Sword and provide another win condition in the case that no more copies of Elwynn Boar are available

Cards:

  • 1x (0) Priestess Valishj
  • 2x (0) Illuminate
  • 2x (0) Desperate Prayer
  • 1x (1) The Light! It Burns!
  • 2x (1) Shard of the Naaru
  • 2x (1) Shadow Word: Devour
  • 2x (1) Northshire Cleric
  • 2x (1) Gift of the Naaru
  • 2x (1) Flash Heal
  • 2x (1) Elwynn Boar
  • 2x (2) Wild Pyromancer
  • 2x (2) Thrive in the Shadows
  • 2x (3) Switcheroo
  • 2x (3) Handmaiden
  • 2x (3) Amulet of Undying
  • 1x (4) Xyrella
  • 1x (8) Xyrella, the Devout
