One of my favorite races to play is an Hiver - Hivers are a unique race, which can often be found living in zones such as Vain, Dreg. There is also a hostile Hiver tribe living in the southeast parts of the map(Stobe’s Gamble, Royal Valley, Greyshelf) - these guys are jerks and they will kill you on sight, same can be said about the Fogmen living near Mongrel. 

So now that we’ve discussed who the Bugmen are, it is time to discuss the best mods available for that specific race. Let’s get started:

5. Playable Hive Praetorian Race for Hives Expanded

Lol, hammersharks!

Who are the Praetorian? These guys guard the queen. I’ve stumbled upon them when I was raiding the Southern Hive, managed to kill a few of them, and kidnapped their queen. I had to evacuate or they would have wiped out my entire army!

Unfortunately, as soon as I arrived at my outpost, I’ve been notified that an angry Southern Hive army is coming my way. I’ve prepared my boys, mounted the harpoons, and waited - they destroyed my gate before my harpooners could deal enough damage and in the end, we’ve won - at the cost of 11 of my men. 

And that’s what this mod does - it allows you to PLAY as the Praetorian. These guys have insane stats and look… cute? Or terrifying? I don’t know, it’s up to you to decide! Have fun.

4. Blood Hive

Hi! I like your blood! Come here! NO-HIVE!

Thanks to this mod, you can steal blood from your fallen enemies - as a Blood Hiver, of course. These guys are stronger than your average Hiver, they’re stronger and faster, at a cost of having less blood. They also hunger more frequently. Good thing corpses are common in the world of Kenshi…

3. Hive Cybernetics

Cyberbeep.

Are you sick of how the standard Hivers look? Do their flesh and skin make them look inferior and weak? Great, this mod completely changes how the Hivers look and you can start as a weird Hiver-Cyborg hybrid. You look badass and far more deadly than before!

Why this mod is awesome:

- Awesome and unique skin remake

- You’re not really a skeleton - you still need food, etc

- Applies to soldier, worker, and prince drones

2. Hive Buildings

Do you know the dark story of how these buildings are being made?

Buildings that were invented by the Hivers look… unique. Like a massive dog turd, or perhaps vomit - either way, they look unsettling and I like how they look. In the vanilla Kenshi I was sad that I couldn’t construct these specific buildings and now, thanks to this mod, I can! And make my outpost look even more disturbing than before…

Why this mod is awesome:

- Adds a new list of buildings for you to create(4)

- Hive beds(x6 healing multiplier)

- Live in vomit houses!

1. Hives Expanded

So much stuff!

This is a massive mod, you can expect more hive factions and new lists of weaponry, armor, and races. If you want to make your little outpost army more unique, you can paint their armor. Raiding other hive factions can have SEVERE consequences for your playthrough and outpost - the raids will be getting more consistent and harder to defend against. I’ve been using this mod for at least 150 hours and I still haven’t discovered everything!

- Tough as hell enemies(if you make them enemies)
