Spider-Man 2 expands on the already impressive selection of suits from the first game, as Insomniac was able to recreate even more suits than last time, even adding skins this time around for extra customization. With around 70 suits to choose from between both webheads, the game opened up for some quality self-expression for fans. Miles Morales, artist as he is, is especially fond of said self-expression. Here are the top 10 suits that Miles Morales offers in Spider-Man 2.
10. Bodega Cat (Good: Blue Hoodie, Light Blue Spider. Better: Red Hoodie, Black Spider, Best: Black hoodie, Red Spider)
The Bodega Cat suit was a late-game unlockable in Miles Morales and is a little bit easier to unlock here, with different hoodies being what separates skins in SM2. If you are an animal lover, it’s a must-have, and some of the animations are as adorable as they are cool. The only downside, however, is that the cat breeds aren’t different in other skins, they only have different masks.
9. Advanced Tech (Good: Base suit, Better: White/Red, Best: All red)
The Advanced Tech suit for Miles isn’t all that great in terms of style, but its colorway and armor-style feel make it a really neat suit for Miles, mirroring Peter Parker’s Spider-Armor and being one of the things that shows Miles’s progression as a character.
8. Brooklyn 2099: (Good: Base suit, Better: Silver/Green, Best: Black/Blue)
Quite similar to the Advanced Tech suit, this is more of an armored look for Miles. It doesn’t look quite like Peter’s 2099 counterpart, and more like the protogee’s Black and Yellow Spider armor, but the colorway is nice, and its alternates are interesting as well.
7. Boricua (Good: Base, Better: Blue/Red, Best: All Red)
The Boricua suit pays homage to Miles’ Puerto Rican roots and is one of my personal favorite suits in the game. Particularly, I really like the burnt red base to the suit, thus making it one of the suits I like more in its alternate skin rather than its base.
6. Crimson Cowl (Good: Black/Red, Better: Black/Light Blue, Best: Base suit)
The Crimson Cowl suit looks fairly unique on Miles and is one of a few suits Miles that has a hood. For some reason, that Red and Black almost always works, and especially when Miles’ mask is black to follow, it just sets the whole thing off really well. I remember using the Crimson Cowl suit for Miles quite a bit in my first playthrough, and though powers aren’t beholden to suits like in the first game, I have a good amount of nostalgia for it.
5. Programmable Matter (Good: Black/Purple Better: Black/Teal Best: Black/Yellow)
The Programmable Matter suit is something that allows the graphics to shine in the game while making Miles look cool, which is perhaps the most important thing that suits do for heroes. Its colorway might not be unique but the design is, because it allows Miles’ Powers to have a different effect than the other suits.
4. Best There Is (Good: Black/Blue Yellow, Better: Red/Black, Best: Grey/Black/Red)
The Best There Is Suit is an Insomniac Original based on a Wolverine comic but is one of my favorite suits in the game. While it doesn’t give Miles retractable claws to go along with his spider powers, it does give him an extra bit of swagger and a stiff upper lip… Just as long as he doesn’t start saying “bub.” It tides us over until the Wolverine game arrives, which is hopefully soon. It was one of my more used suits once I unlocked it
3. Shadow Spider (Good: Base, Better: Black/White/Red, Best: Black/White/Gold)
Are you noticing a bit of a trend here? I dig the hooded suits. Perhaps Miles’ answer to Peter’s Arachknight suit, there’s something kind of medieval about this one that I dig. Once they were able to be unlocked, I roamed around with both Spideys in the Arachknight and Shadow Spider suits. There are a few matching suits here and being able to have both of them match gives the proper teamwork vibes.
2. 2099 (Good: Black/Purple/Blue, Better: Base, Best: White/Black/Red)
A returning suit from Miles' first adventure and a personal favorite of mine, the 2099 suit puts a spin on the original Miles suit that I really enjoy. It is my most used Miles suit in the game, I think because I feel that it makes him seem especially cool while being futuristic but also not completely against character like Peter wearing Miguel O’Hara’s 2099 suit is.
1. Purple Reign (Good: Black/Red, Better: Grey/Purple/Green, Best: Fluorescent Green/Dark Grey/Bright Purple)
And so ends our countdown of the Top 10 best suits for Miles Morales in Spider-Man 2. Was there something you were surprised to see? Would you have added something else? Let us know.
