Bosses of The First Descendant
When it comes to bosses we have them split into the story bosses and the colossi bosses. Of the main story bosses, we have 10 that are not necessarily part of the colossi or the void intercept battles. This gives you Molten Fortress, Khulan the Honorable Birth, Greg the Star-Crossed, Enhanced Manufactured Karon, Eterllick the Tracker, Alzaroke the Loyalist, Split Cell Dmigor, Narzas the Consuming Flame, Genetically Enhanced Greg Clone, and Seudo the Dreamer.
Of that List, we do see the Molten Fortress in the hard mode, but the rest of the list never repeats. The most important bosses end up being the colossi in the void intercepts, and these break down into a total of 8 bosses for the normal game, and a total of 10 for hard mode. The 8 normal mode bosses are Grave Walker, Stunning Beauty, Executioner, Dead Bride, Devourer, Pyromaniac, Swamp Walker, and Hanged Man.
Some sources say that there are three exclusive bosses to the hard mode that do not show up in normal mode, but with changes, we see a total of 9 hard mode bosses that we can interact with. The nine are Executioner, Dead Bride, Devourer, Pyromaniac, Swamp Walker, Obstructer, Frost Walker, Molten Fortress, and Gluttony.
For those as confused as the rest of us, it seems that Grave Walker, Stunning Beauty, and Hanged Man do not show up in the hard mode, but we do get Obstructer, Frost Walker, and Gluttony. We also see Molten Fortress from the other story bosses, which, I guess, makes them feel slightly more included. This leaves us with 17 Colossi battles, and 10 story villains to take care of. It's a good day to be killing bosses in The First Descendant.
Why Play a Boss-Killer Build
So we have Boss-Killer builds, but why do we run them? The answer outside the fact that every game needs bosses to beat, is farming. Void Shards are items that are harvested from these fights which can be turned in for rewards at Albion. That means that we have boss farming just like any good old MMO-type game. The normal battles give us a good amount of rewards, but the hard mode allows players to farm the bosses in any real order that they please by accessing the hard mode missions from the Albion center area.
Breaking it down, we love Boss-Killer builds, because they make some of the best farming and all-purpose builds that we can find. A good majority of these builds are already situated with a weapon for mob clearing, but the same can't always be said in reverse. Boss-Killer builds are all about that high DPS, weak point focus, and making an effort to wipe out everything from the biggest toughest enemies in the game to trash mobs which have their own farming values.
The Top 15 Boss-Killer Builds
15. Luna Solo Boss Build
Welcome to the stage, with Luna! Our music diva dances through the Vulgus with excellent AoE and powerful buffing skills to make even the weakest of teams an elite fighting force. Precision skills allow Luna to infinitely spam her ultimate, using music to bring the crowd to their feet and the enemies to their knees.
Luna Noise Surge Strengths
- There are no bosses that Luna is specifically strong against, but she is capable against all bosses without suffering too much of a handicap.
- Luna is best for mobbing situations and AoE damage that can be dealt per tic. Some of her strongest builds are capable of multiple tics of high damage to weaken bosses.
- Luna is better in group play serving to act as a buff support character in boss fights. She can be used for solo, but she is very middle of the road in damage.
- At its strongest, this build can trigger almost 800K damage per tic.
- Capable of melting bosses like Devourer in under 45 Seconds during solo play

14. Kyle Build
When it comes to tanks in First Descendant, two characters immediately come to mind. The first is Ajax, and the other is Kyle. What Ajax sacrifices in raw damage, Kyle picks up the slack. This tank is made to get up close and personal, dealing massive damage while absorbing almost 100% of the damage dealt by foes. He may not be invulnerable, but Kyle is one of the hardest-hitting, most aggressive tanks in the game. With all those magnetic superpowers, you can't help but feel drawn to him and his linebacker play style.
Kyle the Tank Strengths
- Kyle is not specifically good against any boss, but he is capable of massive amounts of damage with his ult. At this level, Kyle is effective against pretty much every boss as a tank. The only flip side is that he doesn't hand you the edge for any particular fight.
- Kyle is a tank character who does tank things and likes to charge around the field. This comes with an ult that allows him to hammer into a foe for massive damage, and a long cooldown period
- Kyle makes a great meat shield capable of absorbing 100% damage, which is what makes this build so strong. We like him for his ability to take a punch and keep on delivering damage.
- Sadly, Kyle is often considered a D-Tier or C-Tier character thanks to his clunky playstyle. However, with new updates, we have seen him bumped up to B-Tier on average, with promises of more to come as he eventually gets his ultimate form.
- Capable of dealing 126M damage with his ult. The only downside is the cooldown for this skill.
- Kyle has been shown to melt bosses like Pyromaniac in 6 seconds and Gluttony in under 30 seconds according to consistent showcases online
- Any tank that takes a hit is good for team play and protecting squishy descendants. Ajax may be better for group play, but Kyle works as an off-the-handle juggernaut.

13. Infinite Enzo Build
If you need a resupply, Enzo is on the scene to keep the fight going. No other support character in the game gives you as much utility as Enzo. This bad boy can buff attacks, deal damage, and make sure that you never run out of that scarce ammo that you need for those good damage dealers. Whether you're playing support or solo, Enzo is a solid choice that makes sure everyone gets an extra shot in.
Infinite Enzo Strengths
- Enzo is one of our support characters, and he's very good in that regard. However, there is no boss that Enzo excels against. He's more of a character that can be used to tank any boss, even if he's not the best pick for the job.
- Enzo is best served in team play for his ability to resupply the team. He has uses in solo play and boss battles, but his best skills come from supporting a group.
- Enzo is fairly versatile in the fact that his build can be customized as needed. We like him best for his ammo, but it's not the only trick up his sleeve.
- Enzo can buff damage upon himself and others, but he's great as the best support character in the game for buffing specialized fighters.
- Enzo can be used to spam infinite ammo, which keeps him, and his teammates in the fight full-time. It's enough, depending on the weapon we give him, to easily bring down opponents by focusing on causing the most damage at weak points.
- Even on his own, Enzo is capable of managing boss solos in under 20 seconds, which means that he can be consistently good, even if he isn't the strongest choice for the job.

12. Blair all-Rounder Build
It's time to get cooking and Colossi are back on the menu with Blair. This pyro wizard of the kitchen and the battle arena is great for melting bosses and ending tough foes. New updates have allowed Blair's hot zones to stay on the field, even after he gets back his stoves. This means more damage and more fire spam than ever before for the fiery chef of First Descendant.
Blair All-Rounder Strengths
- Blair is the ultimate fire wizard of a character and he deals great damage. He does the best against bosses who are weak to blaze, which are: Dead Bride, Frost Walker, and Gluttony
- Blair is a field control and he is great for establishing large burn zones. He does well about boosting crit damage, and weak point damage while establishing damage over time.
- Blair serves well as a solo fighter, although he makes for a decent addition to most teams.
- Blair on his own is best for running an infinite flamethrower, but his infinite crit rates can be used to buff teammates in group play.
- Blair is great for establishing killing zones and multiple forms of damage. He also can be changed from an infinite flamethrower to an automatic crit hit which can be used for massive damage.
- New Buffs leave fire zones on the ground, even when recovering stoves for MP needs. More fire is always good
- Allows for an infinite flamethrower option that is good for damaging bosses that are especially weak to fire
- Blair is not the strongest of the descendants, but he does an excellent job on melting most bosses in under a minute with his damage stacks.
- At Blair's strongest so far, we can see him consistently deal in the neighborhood of 15M damage to foes. It's not the strongest, but it makes it hurt.

11. Esiemo Boss Nuke Build
Time to explode onto the scene with this new Esiemo nuke build! The new patches up through 1.25 have given several descendants a notable buff including Blair and Esiemo. These two now can hit as hard as just about any A-Tier descendant, and that means everything goes boom. Esiemo is our demolitions expert, and if you've never seen a player nuke a boss in one go with some grenades, I highly suggest checking out the videos
Esiemo Boss Nuke Strengths
- Esiemo is another explosive descendant that manages to crank out some decent blast and fire damage. This makes him good against: Dead Bride, Frost Walker, and Gluttony
- Esiemo is one of the great aggro players, and his bombs hit hard. He is often compared to Lepic for straight bomb damage, and he can be quite brutal.
- Esiemo is best served for single play more than anything because his effects are all self-serving. Even his passive only serves to drop a bomb when shields are depleted. With a character like that, it just makes sense to solo it and make the bad guys go boom.
- Capable of one-shotting bosses who walk into the explosive range of bombs
- Can set up to 19 bombs to instant kill even hard mode bosses like Hard Devourer
- Esiemo has seen several upgrades with recent patches, which may put him at one of the higher tiers alongside his Lepic counterpart before too long.

10. Jayber Build
Turrets, start your engines! Jayber is a dark horse in the boss-killing arena thanks to his technician status and deceptively good skills. This technician shoots onto the scene like a First Descendant Heimerdinger who lays down heavy fire on the enemy. Whether it's clearing trash mobs or becoming an unexpected tank that lays down the hurt, Jayber is an underdog who really knows how to set it up for the win.
Jayber Strengths
- Jayber and hit turrets are good for fire and explosive damage. They see the best effects against Dead Bride, Frost Walker, and Gluttony
- Jayber is good for group and solo play, but he is best at group play.
- Jayber can be made into a serious tank, which makes him both a technician and tank fighter at the same time.
- Jayber is capable of using healing turrets as well as damage which makes for great utility.i
- Turrets can be used to distract bosses, which makes it easier to stack massive damage
- Jayber can be made into a strong tank that doesn't have to move while trying to crank out nonstop DPS.
- Jayber's turrets can be made to be nearly infinite which can be used to establish buffs that make him tougher.
- Jayber's turrets are not particularly strong, but they do draw boss attention and aggro. This gives Jayber time to set up his damage since he gets more damage from stacking repeated attacks at once.

9. Ajax God-Killer Build
No descendant holds the line better than the king of the shields, Ajax. His shields aren't just shields, they're the literal personification of 'I'm rubber and you're glue, what you shoot at me bounces off my shield, and sticks to you.' We like Ajax as one of the most well-rounded heroes, who is also one of our starters. It's a wonder that anyone bothers with the other tanks, thanks to how well-versed Ajax is.
Ajax God-Killer Strengths
- Ajax is a starter character, and he uses his void powers for the most part. While he isn't overwhelmingly strong against most bosses
- Ajax serves two purposes. His first big value is being an all-rounder. He has value in all builds
- Ajax also makes for a great defensive player, and the perfect tank guard to any of the squishy players. He has nearly unbreakable shields, and high defense which means he can set up snipers and other weaker descendants to get off their most powerful attacks.
- This Ajax build requires very little tweaking to be a 50K HP and a 100K defense build. If you're wondering, that means that even without shields, Ajax can effectively sit there and tank enemy damage while dishing out his own.
- Ajax is a mod descendant. He is as good or as terrible as his mods and the player playing him. More importantly, he can be given different focuses, which allow him to use a variety of elemental damage for any occasion.
- The average high-power Ajax build is capable of sending most bosses to the afterlife in 30 seconds or less, which makes him fairly consistent.

8. Viessa
When Else sang, 'the cold never bothered me anyway' she had to have been talking about Viessa. This ice queen starter is one of the strongest and hardest-hitting descendants in the game, and she will stop the competition in its tracks. That's not a joke, because Viessa's ice shackle status effect is more than capable of freezing opponents until they have almost no mobility left. That works great, especially for a sniper Viessa, or as a means to let the other big snipers have their shot.
Viessa Strengths
- Viessa uses ice skills that are strong against: Grave Walker, Pyromaniac, and Molten Fortress
- Viessa is best used for slowing enemies down and then taking time to land the most powerful shots.
- Viessa is great at lowering defense which means that in group play, she gets the heavy damage dealers even more damage. We do love lowering defense and making enemies more sensitive to crit, which makes Blair and Bunny both very happy.
- Several enemies are particularly strong against chill damage. The best part about Viessa is that she manages to offset even her strong enemies by hitting their stats for more than just elemental focus.
- Lowers enemy defense while also maximizing crit rate damage. This build is made to freeze enemies in place and take your time picking the best damage shots.
- Viessa isn't just about lowering defense and increasing crit. She's also hands down the best immobilizer in the game. Viessa's skills are capable of stacking ice shackles enough to limit up to 90% of any mobility caught in her ice.
- While it's not the most impressive, Viessa builds are capable of slapping around upwards of 30M in damage at a time, giving her the means to wipe huge chunks off the enemy HP bar.

7. Freyna Nightmare Dominator Build
Does anyone here have a toxic ex? If the answer's yes, it's also yes that no one is quite as toxic as Freyna. This venomous descendant is one of the most powerful AoE and DoT descendants available. If that's not enough for you, new updates have also given her a nightmare ultimate and some amazing buffs that make Freyna good, even without the contagion field-focused builds.
Freyna Nightmare Dominator Strengths
- Freyna's damage is all based around toxins. She excels against bosses weak to it which include: Stunning Beauty, Executioner, Hanged Man
- Freyna's skills work best around AoE to stack massive amounts of damage. These can be used to stack multiple tics of damage at a time, but in a boss fight, she turns the whole field toxic in a flash.
- Freyna makes it hard for any enemy to move without getting hurt, but she also gets stronger with toxic attributes afflicted on enemies.
- Freyna does well with Secret Garden, but her ability to get stronger off of toxin means that she can pump a lot of damage into sniper shots that excel at weak point damage.
- Freyna just got a new ultimate which makes her that much better and more aggressive. She promises to be even stronger as they add extra to the character with new releases
- With her abilities, Freyna can stack upwards of 70M damage at a time. She has consistently been shown to melt bosses like Executioner, Pyromaniac, and Devourer, all in under 10 seconds.

6. Valby
It's surfs up with Valby! This water cruising descendant is one of the best AoE damage dealers in the game, and she has great damage on bosses. There's a reason why Valby, Viessa, and Bunny are considered the three most powerful AoE characters in the game.
Valby Strengths
- Valby is great against pyro bosses, or anything that suffers a weakness to laundry. Chill is more documented, but Valby is good against Pyromaniac and Molten Fortress
- Valby is a great AoE dealer, and she is powerful at focusing her damage up on enemies. She can mob most enemies without letting some even appear, but
- Like most AoE, Valby fills the rage bar on bosses pretty fast, but she can deal extensive damage when she lands her crits and DPS.
- Valby is very capable of solo play, but she also is great for giving major buffs to players who use electricity damage or chill damage. That means Valby's Laundry makes the top 5 hit even harder.
- Valby has great mobility and can establish great crit point damage while doing solo bosses
- This build is showcased specifically for beating bosses and managing upwards of 70M damage on bosses when maxed out
- Valby is capable of doubling or tripling her crit rate while standing on water and using Supply Moisture, and she produces a lot of water to stand on.

5. Sharen's '1-Shot'
Did you see that shot? Probably not, because Sharen is the invisible assassin. Her skills come from getting buffs off the correct use of her camouflage, and her ability to crank out massive DPS on the first shot fired. It's thanks to this that she had often gotten a reputation as a '1-shot' build and a hidden potential A-Tier or S-Tier single-focus target descendant.
1-Shot Sharen Strengths
- Sharen and Bunny are our two electric damage dealers. This makes her great against bosses that are weak to electricity which include: Devourer, Swamp Walker, Obstructer, and Death Stalker.
- Sharen is an assassin and a single-shot killer. She focuses on getting the most damage out of her first shot fired which gets her the 1-Shot title. This makes her great for solo infiltration play and boss missions.
- Sharen is almost always suited for single target focus over AoE focus. Her skills can be used for both, but we see her shine on anything that has to do with an infiltration mission or an outpost.
- Sharen makes for a great hidden sniper build. She's one of the highest DPS and she had camouflage too, which makes her extra sneaky.
- Sharen is marked as a '1-shot' descendant because of her high damage dealt, but she is still an assassin. Her high damage makes it easy for her to melt bosses, but she does require some roundabout methods that can make her squishy to a boss attack.

4. Bossing Ult Bunny
Bunny go zoom! Bunny races onto the scene to send a spine-tingling jolt through the colossi. No character is capable of becoming a nuke quite as well as Bunny, who is regularly showcased to manage upwards of 100M damage. Even as one of the lighter defense descendants, Bunny is charged to win as she lights up the enemies.
Bossing Ult Bunny Strengths
- Bunny is our leading electric descendant. She sees her best damage against Devourer, Swamp Walker, Obstructer, and Death Stalker.
- Bunny is one of the ultimate in AoE and is capable of nuking bosses at a fast rate. She does her best on mob clearing, but even jumping next to a boss with Bunny is enough to damage the enemy.
- She excels at stacking damage with weapons like Thunder Cage.
- Bunny is capable of 100M damage according to builds such as Hakei on YouTube. Bunny is consistently one of the top damage dealers with her AoE thanks to her powerful stats and fast playstyle
- Bunny is capable of melting bosses in under 10S consistently, even being shown to take down Pyromaniac in as few as 6 seconds on YouTube demonstration videos using this build.

3. Allrounder Ultimate Gley
Time to make it hurt with Gley. This descendant is one of the best high-risk and high reward characters out there. If you're a fan of bleed in Elden Ring, then you're right at home with this walking bloodbath incarnate.
Allrounder Ultimate Gley Strengths
- This is an 'all rounder' build. Thanks to the ability to switch elemental priorities, it can be made effective against all bosses.
- Gley's one of the best boss killers in the game thanks to the fact that she can be given so much damage increase. It also comes with some risk, which means she can either be great or terrible depending on the player.
- Gley's better suited to solo missions on bosses than for group play, and can amass major damage.
- All of Gley's weapons for this build leaves slots open to change it for any type of elemental damage and priority. This makes it good
- Gley is capable of cranking out damage to match Bunny, or more. She is also aggressive enough to match Lepic on almost any of the under 10 second boss kills, regardless of the boss.
- Gley is one of the most aggressive characters in the game, but also comes with high risk and high reward. Fully maxed out, she delivers some of the absolute highest DPS in the game.

2. Ultimate Lepic Boss-Runner
Time to throw in the grenade, because Ultimate Lepic is ready to drop the Vulgus and the Colossi in one go. There are few characters that are as aggressive, straight forward, and reliable as Lepic. With his grenades, and his ability to blast enemies to smithereens and do massive critical damage, Lepic can one shot most small enemies, and put even the strongest bosses down in five seconds or less.
Ultimate Lepic Boss-Runner Strengths
- Lepic is good against anything weak to the blaze attribute, or blast damage. Specifically he excels against: Dead Bride, Frost Walker, and Gluttony
- Lepic is considered the best boss-runner for the game, along with Gley and Hailey. He may not be a sniper, but his utility is so universal that he becomes a one grenade fits all fighter.
- Lepic is the best front running descendant in terms of straight aggro. He is more tanky than any other descendant in the top 5, making him great for being aggressive. There's a reason we use him for speed runs.
- This build triggers great DPS but the value comes in stacking damage and buffs for each damage at the same time. This build is capable of cranking out anywhere from 60-100M damage consistently when maxed out.
- Ultimate Lepic is used for world record speed runs against bosses, and is capable of melting every boss in 5 seconds or less.
- This is the most streamlined Lepic build for boss killing, but Lepic is one of the best most customizable descendants thanks to his reliance on modules. Very few builds can be adapted as easily as this one for the player's needs.

1. Hailey's Boss Killer Build
Say your prayers, because Hailey is about to send those bosses back into the void, permanently. With the highest damage-dealing potential in the game, capable of maxing out 8,000% damage in the right case, Hailey stands above all descendants as the best way to spank a colossi and send it back into the shadows from whence it came.
Hailey Boss Killer Strengths
- Hailey is like Viessa in using chill attributes. She's best against bosses that are weak to chill like Grave Walker, Pyromaniac, and Molten Fortress
- Hailey is the best boss killer in the game, and capable of one-shotting most of them. As such, she is considered an 'allrounder'
- Hailey is a sniper and needs distance to get the best damage possible. Playing her at range is the best option.
- Capable of over 20M damage a shot in showcase build videos, consistently
- Hailey's special abilities are capable of granting 8000% increase to the damage of skill. Likely, she will only get better with new updates.

Conclusion
Boss runs are some of the favorite showcases in the First Descendant, or any game really. Naturally we have those that want to be able to show off their speed runs, and there’s always the helpful player trying to help rookies learn how to take down a tough boss. The bosses in First Descendant may not be the toughest bosses in the video game world, but they can hold their own. Knowing the character you want to play, and how to take down a boss is a big deal, and luckily First Descendant is great at making that possible for any player and play style.
