Developers of the The Witcher series, CD Projekt Red, hope to create the next blockbuster RPG with Cyberpunk 2077.
Cyberpunk 2077 takes place in the open world Night City, California. Technology has finally reached a point where humans regularly acquire technological enhancements for their bodies. Humans have always had problems with technology and the future is no different.
Cybernetic implants to the human body and stimulants are the new drug of choice in 2077. Too many implants and stimulants and people lose their perception of reality as they slowly go insane. These people are known as Psychos. You are part of the police force’s elite Max-Tac aka “Psycho Squad”, a group that specializes in subduing and/or apprehending Psychos.
Development Time
First announced in 2013 with development having started the previous summer, August 2018 will mark six years that the game has been in development. With the time put into the game, many are hopeful that it will be as good or even surpass The Witcher in popularity.
CD Projekt RED is scheduled to appear at E3 2018 to announce an “unspecified” RPG that has been in development. Most people are certain that the RPG being announced is Cyberpunk 2077. The presentation they have planned is expected to run for at least one hour.
Or Is It Something Else?
Some believe it is very possible that CD Projekt RED will be announcing GWENT ahead of release. It is entirely possible since there has been steady development on the Witcher card game. Others have suggested they may be announcing a fourth installment to The Witcher series.
Another, less exciting possibility, is that a room may have been reserved for a simple business meeting.
Regardless of what they have planned, CD Projekt RED has fans anxious to see what they’ll be showing at this year’s E3, and their curiosity will not be satisfied until the E3 presentation.
E3 2018 begins June 12th and runs through June 14th. Developers have stated they plan to make an announcement just before the event begins on June 12th, which could be the announcement of their new RPG. Francesco Fossetti, editor of site Everyeye.it, who has an hour long appointment, claims to confirm that CD Projekt RED will be showing Cyberpunk 2077. So far, the company has issued no statement to confirm exactly what they will be showing.
