2) Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire (N3DS)

One cannot really call themselves a true fan if you haven’t played through Hoenn yet. Memorable characters, Difficult gym leaders, evil organizations, this game has got it all. And with the twist of 3D and mega stones this time!

Choose between Mudkip, Treecko and Torchic, and set out for your adventure in the Hoenn region, in this remake of the original Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire keep the story and game as true to the original while adding a few changes and updating it for the newest generation of Pokemon on the 3DS.

1) Pokémon Sun and Moon (N3DS)

Alola: The land where it all comes together.

Finally, the most recent addition to the family. The game where it all comes together. Pokémon Sun/Moon truly is a mixture of all the good things in the franchise, that got you hooked in the RPG series in the first place, without actually repeating anything.

Instead of the typical Gym battles, this time the player embarks upon a new adventure to conquer all the Island Challenges. The reward for completing a trial is a Z-Crystal, an item which allows the Pokemon holding it to attack with an extra-strong ultimate move once per battle. This is sort of an Alolan version of mega stones. With many new ‘mons, there are also new forms of the previous ones, which are sure to bring back a lot of older players. Meanwhile, our job is to catch ‘em all!

Heart Gold and Soul Silver were two of my least favorite of the pokemon games, although someone stole mine a while back and I never really did get to finish playing it... :/
