Elden Ring can be hard, especially for a newcomer, but if you are in need of a few runes for Margitt you are in luck, as this list will provide 5 great spots for a few easy runes. Rune farming will also not be necessary if you retrieve your runes when dying, I know easier said than done. This list will provide you with the help you need to get a few levels early on especially if you want to beat Margitt without exploring. I would still highly recommend exploring rather than farming.
Giving Melina all your runes for a single level seems fair.
Firstly, to get the most out of leveling, get the Golden Scarab Talisman as it increases the number of runes you get from enemies.
Can’t go grinding without your trusty Scarab.
5. Trolls
Grinding for 5K will look like nothing in the future.
The Warmaster’s Shack has some surprises for you if you wait until nightfall, but this is not your problem at the moment, what we’re looking for are 5 trolls that are to the right of the shack.
How it works:
- Go to the Trolls from the right side of the Warmaster’s Shack.
- Defeating a troll will give you 1K runes per kill, coming to 5K runes per run.
- It isn’t a lot but it is a good way to farm up a few levels for Margit.
4. Bestial Sanctum
The Bestial Sanctum is one great farming spot for the early game.
The Bestial Sanctum, sadly found in Caelid can be accessed quite easily, with the transporter hidden away behind the Third Church of Marika.
How it works:
- Go to the Bestial Sanctum:
- Rest at the Grace and run out the door past the Gargoyle.
- Run down the path and you will see small enemies.
- Defeat these enemies for around 7K runes per run.
3. The Dragon of Farroth
Remember to have the Golden Scarab and a Gold foot ready.
The sleeping dragon is an easy 50K runes and around 80K runes with the Golden Scarab, with this new respawn exploit, you can get runes from it every 5 minutes. For low-level players, this is heaven as you will get a few needed levels with this.
How it works:
- Go to Fort Farroth in Caelid.
- The sleeping dragon is right in front of the Grace.
- Run up to it and start smacking his backside with a bleed weapon.
- Just before it dies, jump on Torrent, run towards the Grace, and rest.
- If done right you will get the runes and it would have respawned.
2. Night’s Cavalry
Enemy Felled taken to a new level.
The Night’s Cavalry in Caelid is one tough boss, with hard-hitting attacks and far range he can kill you in a matter of seconds. With the earlier patches having an exploit where he can die from poison, by running him up the hill, being patched. This new way of cheesing this boss will give players a well-deserved 42000 runes.
How it works:
- Run the boss to the ground area near the edge of the bridge.
- Jump over the wall of the bridge with Torrent as the boss runs after you.
- He will run off the side and fall down.
1. Mohgwyn’s Albinaurics
The best farming spot in the game for all players.
The sleeping frog enemies are the best rune farming spot in the game, for late early, and mid-game players, this farming method will give you a lot of runes even if you can’t kill them all in one hit.
How it works:
- Talk to Varre, the NPC you meet at the start of the game.
- After you defeat Godrick go to Liurnia of the Lakes.
- Go to the Rose Church, it’ll be on the left side of the Liurnia.
- Talk to Varre and tell him “They didn’t seem right”.
- He will give you 5 Festering Blood Fingers.
- Invade 3 other players, you don’t need to defeat them.
- He will ask you to join his order and give you the Lord of Blood’s Favor item.
- Go to the Church of Inhibition which can be found here:
- Once you are at the church, look at the chair close to the Grace.
- You can loot the corpse for the Finger Maiden armor, but you can also use the Lord's Favor here.
- Return to Varre and you will join his order, and he will give you the Pureblood Knight’s Medal that will transport you to Mohgwyn’s Palace..
- The Palace Approach Ledge Road Grace
- The sleeping enemies will be in front of you.
- Defeat them by whatever you find the easiest and you will be getting 2K runes per enemy.
- With some later game weapons, this farm will be much easier.
