The right tool makes all the difference.
You should be harvesting. Harvesting tools are used in Guild Wars 2 to collect resources that can be sold or used to craft items. The right tools can give you a bit more than what you can get from just the resource you are harvesting.
As all harvesting tools provide the same amount of strikes, without changing the quantity, this 10 best list has the harvesting tools available in Guild Wars 2 that do more than just harvest. Four of them are available for purchase using in game currency. However, for two of them you will need the expansions, and one of the others is only available during a specific event.
Six of them are available from the Black Lion Trading Company for Gems. Remember, you can convert Gold earned in game to Gems if you don't want to spend real world money on them. The benefit is that these come with animation as well as never get used up.
The status for all are the same as the Orichalcum Harvesting Sickle that can be purchased on any 60+ map. This means you can harvest all items without ruining what you are harvesting.
