[Top 15] LOL Best Players In The World (Based on 2022 Achievements)

[Top 15] LOL Best Players In The World (Based on 2022 Achievements)
The power has shifted between players!

Since Worlds 2022 has concluded, let us take a look back at the professional players and rank who is the best. Congratulations to everyone who competed in the tournament and made it to the big stage; it takes bravery and a lot of hard work to get there. Many of the players on this list have pushed and proven that they can compete on a big stage, and a lot of them have pushed the potential for improvement.

Every month, a new type of player begins their professional career, but only a rare few make it to the big stage known as "Worlds Championship." Making it to this point is no easy feat and those who do make it know they are only 0.5% of the League of Legends player base. They certainly showed everyone what it means to be on the big screen and put on a show like no other. With that in mind, let's rank the best professional players!

15. Chen “Breathe” Chen (Top laner)

See Chen “Breathe” Chen In Action (Video by Wiz Highlight):

To begin this list, we have a player from China named Chen Chen, also known as "Breathe" by many. He is currently a top laner for a team called RNG or Royal Never Give Up, but he began his career relatively recently in 2018 with a team called OMD or Oh My Dream. Unfortunately, this player has not won any major first-place prizes during his professional career, but he has demonstrated courage and determination to do so.

He will not stop until he has achieved first place and will continue to demonstrate to others that he has what it takes to be number one. And I'm all in. With his flashy plays with Fiora or Camille, the player has proven time and time again that he has what it takes to win. The crowd is enthralled by his quick reflexes and baron or dragon steals. When this player begins teleporting into action, we know that something bad is about to happen, and it won't be pretty.

Best Champions:

  • Camille
  • Jax
  • Gnar
  • Fiora

Major Tournament Achievements:

  • 2nd place in NEST 2021 (23,490$)

14. Markos “Comp” Stamkopoulos (ADC)

See Markos “Comp” Stamkopoulos in action (Video by Solo Carry):

Markos Stamkopoulos, also known as "Comp," is a player who was born and raised in Greece in 2001. He was always interested in video games and enjoyed playing them as a child. He had a dream to become a pro player. When he discovered League of Legends, that dream came true in 2015 when he joined a team called GROF and made his pro debut.

He is currently a bot laner for the team "Rouge" and has qualified for Worlds 2022. During the major tournament, this player demonstrated that he had improved his ADC gameplay and was able to get multiple double and triple kills on other pro players. During the tournament, he was a true badass, demonstrating that he has what it takes to take this game to a whole new level. Most people admire him for his flashy plays and quick reactions.

Best Champions:

  • Kalista
  • Sivir
  • Ezreal
  • Kai’Sa

Major Tournament Achievements:

  • 1st Place in LEC 2022 Spring (200,000$)

13. Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu (ADC)

See Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu in action (Video by LoL FanZone):

Our Korean player on this list is Kim Hyuk-kyu, also known as Deft by many people around the world. He is currently an ADC for the DRX team, but he has gone through many other changes since his pro-player debut in 2013 with MVP Blue. Throughout his career, he has met many people and formed many friendships with foreign players such as Rekkles, Cloud, and Clearlove. This player went to the same high school in Seoul as Faker and Mappa. When it comes to his gameplay, he's a true pro who leaves many people in awe.

When he's playing Jinx, he's unbeatable. If he doesn't get a chance to play Jinx, he has some other champions who are quite lethal. No matter who he's playing, he'll put on a show for the audience. Deft is also known as the world quadra kill champion because he never completes it and never seems to get the penta kill. It's never in reach. But the most notable accomplishment that solidifies him as a true badass is that he won Worlds 2022 with his team DRX this season after playing competitive League of Legends for ten years.

Best Champions:

  • Jinx
  • Sivir
  • Ezreal
  • Varus

Major Tournament Achievements:

  • 1st place in Worlds 2022 (489,500$)

12. Tian “Meiko” Ye (Support)

See Tian “Meiko” Ye In Action (Video by RexCHNNZ):

Tian Ye, also known as Meiko, is a professional player from China who is currently playing for EDward Gaming. A fun fact about this player is that he previously went by the nicknames "Mad" and "Azure." For the time being, it is unknown why he changed his nickname twice before settling on Meiko. He's a support player who enjoys playing Thresh, who is one of his favorite champions. He was also the first player in LPL history to have 6000 acquired assists.

That is completely insane, and it just goes to show how badass some people can be. He has everything when it comes to his support gameplay. When he joins your team, you know it's GG because he has won every major tournament he has competed in between 2015 and 2021. This player also has a World Championship to his name, proving him to be a true badass. It's one thing to win Worlds, but it's quite another to do so while serving as support.

Best Champions:

  • Thresh
  • Renata
  • Lulu

Major Tournament Achievements:

  • 1st place in Worlds 2021 (489,500$)

11. Rasmus “caPs” Borregaard Winther (Mid laner)

See Rasmus “caPs” Winther In Action (Video by GWP):

Rasmus Winther, or caPs for short, is our dear "baby Faker" as many fans, including myself, refer to him. The fans gave him the nickname "baby Faker" because of the skill he displays during matches. His real name is badass on its own, and it sounds like something from the hit show "Game of Thrones." He also has an older brother, Ryze, who plays DoTA 2 professionally. CaPs plays many champions, but his favorites are Orianna and Zoe.

CaPs is currently a mid-laner for G2 Esports, but he began his professional career in 2015 with a team called "Enigma Esports." Since joining G2 Esports, he has primarily played as a mid-laner, though he did briefly play bot lane for the same team. That didn't last long, and he eventually returned to the same lane where he began his career. He has numerous first-win belts to his name, the majority of which he obtained while in Fnatic and G2.

Best Champions:

  • Zoe
  • Ryze
  • Aurelion Sol
  • Orianna

Major Tournament Achievements:

  • 1st place in LEC Spring 2022 (86,596$)

10. Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu (Jungler)

See Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu In Action (Video by GWP):

Canyon, Kim Geon-bu, is a professional Korean League of Legends player who plays for DAMWON Gaming, also known as DWG. That was also the team with which he began his professional League of Legends career. He's only been in one team and one team so far. He doesn't need to change, and he's been content with his current situation.

Canyon began playing jungle for DWG in 2018 and quickly gained a following as "Polar Bear." When it comes to being a badass, he's not afraid to show it, as evidenced by his penta kill as a jungler in the LCK. He was the first person in eSports history to do so. He was also the best player in terms of accumulating the most MVP points in a single split. Canyon plays a variety of champions, but his most well-known is Lee Sin.

Best Champions:

  • Lee Sin
  • Nidalee
  • Kindred

Major Tournament Achievements:

  • 1st place in LCK Summer 2021 (172,575$)

9. Bai “369” Jiahao (Top laner)

See Bai “369” Jiahao In Action (Video by GWP):

Our second top lane player who has made a name for himself on the professional scene is Bai Jiahao or 369 from China. Nobody knows why that specific set of numbers was chosen, but he does have a secondary nickname, "The Dice Man," which sounds far more badass than just numbers. He's another player who began his professional career in 2018 with the team KOF or King Of Future, but later switched to TOP and TES before landing a spot with JD Gaming, or JDG for short.

Since beginning his LPL career, this player has never missed a single "Playoffs." Being a top laner is difficult, especially if you're a pro, but this guy makes it look so simple. I'm sure he could play top lane with his eyes closed and still outperform the majority of the League of Legends community. It just goes to show how badass he truly is. 369 plays a variety of champions, but his favorite is Vladimir, and he is regarded as one of the best Vladimir players currently.

Best Champions:

  • Jax
  • Vladimir
  • Renekton
  • Gangplank

Major Tournament Achievements:

  • 1st place in LPL Summer 2022 (289,842$)

8. Choi “Zeus” Woo-je (Top Laner)

See Choi “Zeus” Woo-je In Action (Video by GWP):

Choi Woo-je aka Zeus is the next player on the list, and he plays for T1, which is probably the most well-known team in the world right now. They truly are the top of the professional scene. But when it comes to this player, he is unstoppable and, at times, a one-man team. This player began his career in the T1 Academy in 2019 and later advanced to the T1 Rookies after proving his worth. After proving that the Rookies are nothing more than a toy for him.

He became the official rooster of T1 and made his big-screen debut in November 2020. By the flashy plays he has shown while on the big screen, the player alone is badass and could be considered a one-man army. He hasn't even been on the big screen for that long, and already 10-minute montages about him are being made with no shortage of clips. He enjoys playing a variety of champions, but Jayce is his most well-known. He's so badass that he can switch between two different forms in a split second, leaving many people confused.

Best Champions:

  • Jayce
  • Kennen
  • Gwen
  • Gnar

Major Tournament Achievements:

  • 1st place in LCK Spring 2022 (163,659$)

7. Gao “Tian” Tianliang (Junger)

See Gao “Tian” Tianliang In Action (Video by GWP):

There are many junglers, but none are greater than Tian or Gao Tianliang. A Chinese-born and raised player currently plays for Top Esports and holds a world championship belt. Few people can claim to have won Worlds, but he certainly can. His journey began in 2017 when he joined Young Miracles. That was his first professional appearance, and he piqued the interest of many because he demonstrated the potential to be a great player in his first match.

This player is so badass that winning Worlds in 2019 was insufficient for him. When he won Worlds 2019, he was also named the tournament's MVP. That is something that even fewer people can say they have accomplished. Many people know him by various champions, but his most well-known are "Qiyana" and the blind monk "Lee Sin." When he picks those champions, you know something spectacular is about to happen.

Best Champions:

  • Lee Sin
  • Qiyana
  • Rek’Sai
  • Poppy

Major Tournament Achievements:

  • 1st place in Worlds 2019 (834,375$)

6. Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon (Mid laner)

See Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon In Action (Video by GWP):

Chovy, also known as Jeong Ji-hoon, is a South Korean professional player who plays as a mid-laner for Gen.G Esports. Let me begin by saying that this player is so badass that he was the first to achieve a 100 KDA against SKT T1 back in 2019 with an overall score of 44/1/60. That is a powerful move. He has been a member of many different teams during his time in the professional scene, but none have been more successful than his current team Gen.G Esports.

In the professional scene, there's also a running joke that the casters refer to him as "Choky" if he starts choking up or messing up during his flashy moves and plays. He plays a wide range of champions, so you'll never find him lacking, but his most popular ones are Cassiopeia, Zoe, and, if his team requires it, Galio. During his professional career, he is known as the wave master, and he can amass massive wave and minion strength to gain a significant advantage over his opponent.

Best Champions:

  • Zoe
  • Cassiopeia
  • Galio
  • Akali
  • Orianna

Major Tournament Achievements:

  • 1st place in LCK Summer 2022 (147,623)

5. Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk (ADC)

See Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk In Action (Video by GWP):

If you know Chovy, you know Ruler, and I refuse to believe you don't. He is a South Korean player who plays for the same team as Chovy and that’s Gen.G. Ruler began his professional career in 2016 with a team called Stardust, after which he changed teams several times before landing as Gen.G's ADC in 2018. After that, he stayed with the same team and renewed his contract.

The player has a World Championship belt and numerous victories to his credit. Some of his favorite champions to play revolve around skill shots, and he dislikes playing champions that are simple to learn. That is most likely the most badass thing I have ever read about someone. He enjoys playing champions such as Ezreal and Ashe.

Best Champions:

  • Ezreal
  • Ashe
  • Aphelios

Major Tournament Achievements:

  • 1st place in the LCK Summer 2022 (147,623$)

4. Park “Viper” Do-hyeon (ADC)

See Park “Viper” Do-hyeon In Action (Video by Solo Carry):

One of the few players whose career began on the big screen alongside big-name stars like Tarzan, Sword, and Rather. This guy is so good at the game that he was immediately recruited and tested on the big screen to see how he performs, which he did admirably. Park Do-hyeon, also known as Viper by many fans, is a popular and talented EDward Gaming player. He is an ADC for the team with some unusual picks.

He decided to play Taliyah and Viktor as ADC champions during the LCK Spring Playoffs. Following that, he ignited the meta for AP ADC champions. He also picked Teemo twice in major tournaments, both times winning. The player is a badass in his own right, and he loves to show it to the rest of the world. He was also the second player in eSports history to score a penta kill in both the LCK and the Worlds Championship.

Best Champions:

  • Teemo
  • Viktor
  • Taliyah
  • Tristana

Major Tournament Achievements:

  • 1st place in the 2021 World Championship (489,500$)

3. Han “Peanut” Wang-ho (Jungler)

See Han “Peanut” Wang-ho In Action (Video by GWP):

These Gen.G players are out of this world. They just keep demonstrating how powerful and skilled they are at the game. Han "Peanut" Wang-ho began his professional career in 2014, but he played his first professional match when he was only 17 years old, in 2015. That is a very young age to be a professional player and to dominate the professional scene. He played his first professional match against SKT T1 Telecom. Talk about a rocky beginning.

Thankfully, he demonstrated that he has what it takes to be the jungler that everyone desires. His champion rooster is quite large and one-of-a-kind, with a champion for every circumstance. You'll never catch him lacking during the pick phase and he can never be countered. Later in 2018, he had a rematch against SKT T1 Telecom, where he played Olaf and went 11-0-6. Peanut is also the seventh player in history to have 500 confirmed LCK games played.

Best Champions:

  • Nidalee
  • Olaf
  • Elise

Major Tournament Achievements:

  • 1st place in the LCK Summer 2022 (147,623$)

2. Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok (Mid laner)

See Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok In Action (Video by LoL PD):

The most popular player in League of Legends follows next on this list. This player has appeared in more music videos and animations than any other professional eSports player in history. He's also the League of Legends eSports scene's icon, and if you don't know who he is. His name is Lee Sang-hyeok, but everyone calls him Faker. He used to dominate the scene and be regarded as one of the best players to have graced the League of Legends community since its inception, but there is only one person who can compete with him.

But don’t get me wrong I still consider Faker a legend in the LoL professional scene. For the longest time, he and his team dominated the professional scene, accomplishing feats that no other man could. Faker plays the most champions of any pro player and is regarded as the best mid-laner so far, but he is best known for his Zed, Azir, Ryze, and Orinna. This player is so badass that one World Championship belt wasn't enough for him. He is also one of the most humble people you will ever meet, which makes him even more badass.

Best Champions:

  • Zed
  • Ryze
  • Azir
  • Akali
  • Orianna

Major Tournament Achievements:

  • 1st place in the LCK Spring 2022 (163,659$)

1. Ryu “Keria” Min-seok (Support)

See Ryu “Keria” Min-seok In Action (Video by GWP):

And the best player right now who shows the most promise of becoming the best player in the world is Ryu Min-seok, who plays support for T1. Not only did he achieve the title of the best player in the world at the time, but he also did so while playing the support role. Keria was named one of the best support players in history by Deft even before he began his professional career. Shortly after that, in 2017, he entered the professional scene, where he played a few matches before quickly leaving the team.

He was in and out of teams for a while before joining Deft's team in DRX. After that, he left DRX to join T1 and serve as the team's primary support. Since joining, he has demonstrated a lot of potential to be the best, and it has paid off for him. He is also one of the youngest people on this list to have accomplished so much in such a short period. Keria plays a variety of champions, but his main focus is on Thresh and Pyke, where he demonstrates his hooking abilities and how to properly play those champions. If you've ever wanted to learn them, just watch Keria do it.

Best Champions:

  • Pyke
  • Thresh
  • Braum
  • Renata

Major Tournament Achievements:

  • 1st place in LCK Spring 2022 (163,659$)
