There are plenty of skins in Overwatch and people love to customise their characters, so it’s unsurprising that people like to talk about which ones are their favourites. Let’s take a look at some of the most popular ones in the game.
1) Pink Mercy
The most sought after skin in the game, it was brought back earlier this year, along with the new Rose Gold recolour. It’s the only charity cosmetic that’s ever been added, on top of having unique sound effects and being well designed, so people get to donate to a good cause and get a pretty skin for one of the game’s most popular heroes.

2) Antifragile Kira Kira Kiriko
The KPOP skins were incredibly popular when they first came out and Kiriko is one of the most played heroes, so you’ll usually see people playing her using this skin. Her outfit is especially cute and her suzu becomes a flashy disco ball, along with a few unique sounds for her Swift Step. Another detail you might not notice unless you’re looking is that it adds little stars to her fox’s cheeks.

3) Cyberdemon Genji
Genji’s mythic was the first one to be added to the game and it came out looking pretty cool. The neon tattoos over his body are nice colours, and the way his mask slides open to show off the creepy face underneath in his hero select screen is one of the best animations in the game. All of the unique sounds are good too, even if the voice filter isn’t my favourite.

4) Captain Amari Ana
This skin is a little older since it came out with Ana’s launch, but it’s still one of her best years later. It shows what she looked like when she was a lot younger, and Ana’s uniform is simple, but the beret and cape make it look more interesting. The cracked scope is also a nice touch, since it’s a reference to when Widowmaker shot her in the eye.

5) Brick Bastion
One of the only Overwatch skins to still be exclusive, the event for Lego Bastion launched in 2019. Since it’s a collab with a popular brand, it’s something people have wanted to come back to the game for a while now, but it doesn’t seem like Blizzard are going to bring it back any time soon. There are unique sounds when Bastion is shooting and he dies too, along with him falling apart instead of exploding like he usually would.

6) Witch Mercy
It’s not her most popular nowadays, but it was one of the most liked skins back when it first came out and it’s still the first thing most people think of when they talk about Junkenstein’s Revenge. It’s a good fit for Mercy’s character, since she’s a doctor that can bring people back from the dead and she can already fly, so giving her a broomstick for her staff instead is fun.

7) Formal Doomfist
Originally starting out as a spray Doomfist launched with, people liked the design enough that it eventually ended up getting added to the game as a skin. His suit and shoes look fancy on their own, but the rose on his tuxedo and sunglasses are cool accessories that make an already nice cosmetic even better. It’s also one of the only skins to show in a game cinematic, along with Sparkplug Brigitte.

8) Galactic Emperor Sigma
The season and battlepass this skin came with didn’t stand out much, but this is generally considered one of the best mythic skins. The colour palettes, armour and hats all look relatively different, so there’s plenty of customisation and the unique sounds are easy on the ears. The space patterning on his scarf(?) also makes it pop more visually.

9) Black Cat D.Va
Another skin that was incredibly popular when it first came out that’s still liked a lot later, Black Cat D.Va is mostly designed to be cute. The mech has ears and a tail, along with a little cat drawing and bell on the gun when she’s demeched. D.Va herself is also dressed in purple and pink lolita clothing, with a big bow around her neck as an extra accessory.

10) Grillmaster: 76
Soldier’s Summer Games skin, he’s dressed up as a stereotypical dad at a BBQ. A greasy chef apron, a Hawaiian shirt and an ugly pair of socks with sandals, he would fit right in. There’s also a bunch of cooking tools where his grenade belt would usually be and his Biotic Field is replaced by a can of diet soda, which are cool little details.

11) Antifragile Dazzle D.Va
Another KPOP skin for a popular hero, it was bound to do well from the start. Her mech looks a little underdesigned, but D.Va herself has a lot of details, with ombre hair and multiple stickers covering her clothes. There’s a heart keychain on her gun when she’s demeched too, which is a cute touch.

12) Graffiti Tracer
A graffiti skin works pretty well for Tracer, since she launched with two sprays that look like they were done with paint, graffiti is popular in Britain and it fits her personality. The splashes of paint on her leggings look cool, she’s wearing a cute hoodie, and the guns have messy spray bottles at the bottom.

13) Cultist Zenyatta
Most of Zenyatta’s skins are pretty good, but Cultist is definitely his most liked one. It’s based on Cthulhu and has multiple cool details, like changing the glowing arms during Transcendence and some of his emotes to tentacles. You’ll also notice that the eyeballs on his orbs move if you look closer, which makes it a little creepier.

14) Medusa Widowmaker
Medusa Widowmaker is surprisingly pretty, with interesting tattoos and purple jewel accessories on her shirt and skirt. The snakes in her hair are animated and they hiss when you use it in game, which can get a little distracting, but it’s nice attention to detail. Her eyes being black also makes it stand out more, since most of the skin is green and white.

15) Good And Evil Echo
Out of all the Overwatch League skins, this is one of the best ones. The way Echo’s been split between the two clashing themes works well, especially with the mask. There’s also a few particle effects, with fire coming off her body on the evil side, and some light sparkles around her face.

16) Cleric Lifeweaver
If you play Dungeons & Dragons, this skin might be one you’d like, since it’s a reference to D&D clerics. The flower on Lifeweaver’s back looks more detailed than usual, the healing blossom is a pretty shade of pale yellow, and the armour is a nice change from what he usually wears.

17) Conductor Reinhardt
Even though it’s unfortunately been removed from the hero gallery since the last time it was available as a Twitch drop, this is still a fun skin for anyone that has it. Reinhardt’s usual charge sounds are replaced with the sounds of a train and the hammer has a cowcatcher at the front, which is a reference to an older kind of trains.

18) Aviator Pharah
Pharah’s biking outfit is a little different to Sojourn’s, with a less covering helmet, a short jacket with a popped collar and some faded jeans. The sunglasses and dog tag she’s wearing make the skin even cooler, since she’s like a mysterious biker. It also shows up in the New Blood comics, looking especially nice when drawn by Irene Koh.

19) Antifragile Slay Star Sombra
The last KPOP skin to go on the list, Sombra’s has the most interesting details. Her ombre hair looks great, especially with the digital effects, and the heart cut-outs on her gloves are cute. I also like the gun and the colours on her pants, with the fade in from light purple to dark mixed with black.
Preview:
20) Dr. Junkenstein Junkrat
This is Junkrat’s oldest event skin, but it’s still his most memorable one. He’s the most prominent character in the Halloween modes and the evil scientist aesthetic fits Junkrat perfectly, since he’s constantly making his own creations in the lore. The static coming from his riptire, messy hair and dirty lab coat all sell the look really well.

21) Vigilante Sojourn
Sojourn’s skin selection can be a little underwhelming, but this is one of her better ones. It’s unfortunately locked behind the PVE pack, but it’s definitely nice to look at, with the cool biker helmet and the red accents making the suit pop more than it would have without them. The railgun is a recolour of her default, but I think it looks a lot cleaner in black and red.
Preview:
22) Scion Hanzo
The black dress shirt and pants Hanzo are wearing suit him, since he used to be a wealthy member of the yakuza before the Shimada clan disbanded. The blue and white accents are also nice, along with the slicked back hair making him look like a rich businessman.
Preview:
23) Oni Genji
When Oni first came out, it was an exclusive reward for playing one of Blizzard’s other games, HOTS, but it was more popular back then. It’s a little less liked now that you can buy it with regular credits, but it’s still one of the better Genji skins. The mask and belt are some of the best details, along with the bright red spikes on his shoulders and stripes on his back.
Preview:
24) Surf ‘N’ Splash Torbjörn
A fun joke skin for Torbjörn, the sandcastles instead of his usual exhaust engines and his hammer being replaced with a squeaky toy are the best parts. If you use his hammer in game, it actually squeaks sometimes too, but it might take a few swings.
Preview:
25) Poseidon Ramattra
Ramattra’s first battlepass skin and still one of his only legendaries, Poseidon is still a really good skin, especially for one that the hero launched with. His Nemesis form looks particularly cool, with the tentacles coming out of his back and spiky shells attached to his arms.
