Are some Pokemon OP?
Yes! It depends on their typing and if they have a hybrid typing. Their Tera Typing matters because it boosts its offense and defense. This determines their type strengths and weaknesses.
Their overall stats have an effect where high HP, high Attack, and High Special Attack are prime factors to stay aggressive. They are either great Special Attack Pokémon with great Special Defense stats or great physical Attack Pokémon with great Defense stats.
The last factors are their abilities and moves they can learn to counter the types they’re strong against. This creates an OP (overpowered) Pokémon.
OP Pokémon should have the best HP stats. Their max HP ranks this list because it determines how long they can last in any battle and can lead with strong physical Attacks or Special Attacks.
This list contains a mix of Regular Powerful Pokémon, Semi-Pseudo-Legendary Pokémon, Paradox Pokémon, Mightiest Marks, and Legendaries. These OP Pokémon are also the most fun to use the Synchro Machine with!

The Mightiest Mark Incineroar’s moves won’t disappear if you want to change it.
Purposely, the Mightiest Mark Incineroar is a great choice to try to defeat Paradox Pokemon in the likes of:
- Iron Leaves
- Iron Boulder
- Iron Crown
- Iron Treads
- Flutter Mane
- Brute Bonnet
- Slither Wing
The Mightiest Mark Incineroar has an excellent edge against some Semi-Pseudo Legendary category in the likes of:
- Aggron
- Lucario
- Volcarona
The Mightiest Mark Incineroar has an excellent edge against some Pseudo Legendary category in the likes of:
- Dragonite
- Salamence
- Metagross
- Hisuian Goodra
- Baxcalibur
Here’s another alternate build considering its Dark Tera Type:
- Snarl
- Darkest Lariat
- Bulk Up
- Burning Jealousy
Why Mightiest Mark Incineroar is Powerful:
- In the Mightiest Mark category, The Mightiest Mark Incineroar can reach 394 max HP. With such large HP, it can use Protect when its HP gets too low.
- The Mightiest Mark Incineroar can learn many Dark, Fire, and Fighting moves. Still, you should keep essential moves Darkest Lariat and Bulk Up. Other moves to try out are Cross Chop, Burning Jealously, Templar Flare, and Lash Out.
- Cross Chop deals 100 damage with 80 accuracy and has an increased critical hit ratio. Burning Jealousy hits all opponents, dealing 70 accurate damage, and burns any that have boosted their stats.
- Templar Flare deals 75 accurate damage. Spurred by desperation, Incineroar attacks the target. This move’s power is doubled if the user’s previous move fails.
- Lash Out deals 75 accurate damage. Incineroar lashes out to vent its frustration toward the target. If its stats were decreased during the turn, the power of this move is doubled.
- Earthquake and Reversal are other powerful moves. Earthquake deals 100 accurate damage to every Pokémon on the field. Reversal deals more damage the lower Incineroar’s HP is. Drain Punch will help Incineroar gain more HP.
- Give Incineroar the Shell Bell, allowing it to gain even more HP every time it attacks the opponent. Teach it Swords Dance, Bulk Up, Darkest Lariat, and Drain Punch. This will give Incineroar a superior advantage, increasing its Attack and Defense and gaining HP during competitive online double battles!
5. Archaludon
Archaludon’s Best Stats:
- 290 HP
- 193 Attack
- 238 Defense
- 157 Speed
- 121 Special Defense
- 229 Special Attack
- Use a Naughty Mint
Archaludon is a Steel and Dragon-Type Pokémon. Despite its cool and rugged design and power, it is not a Pseudo-Legendary Pokémon nor a Paradox.
Recommended Tera Type: Steel / Dragon
Analysis:
To catch Archaludon, you have to find a Duraludon. It’s located in the Polar Biome in the Indigo Disc DLC, no BP’s needed. Use a Metal Alloy on Duraludon to evolve it into an Archaludon.
Finding an Archaludon roaming in the Polar Biome is even better! Archaludon is useful when you’re tackling the Blueberry Academy story such as defeating the annoying emo champion Kieran.
Archaludon’s a Steel and Dragon Type immune to Poison-Types. Archaludon ranks #5 because, during Regulation G, it directly combats Sword and Shield Legendary favorite, Eternatus, who is a Poison and Dragon-Type. Archaludon is a rare Dragon that can counter Fairy-Types because of its Steel-Typing.
Archaludon has 3 Abilities, Stamina, Sturdy and Stalwart. Stamina increases Archaludon’s Defense by one stage when it is attacked by any move. Sturdy allows Archaludon to survive with 1 HP if attacked at full HP with an attack that would otherwise knock it out. It also prevents 1-eHit-KO moves. Stalwart ignores the effects of opposing Pokémon’s Abilities and moves that draw in moves.
Archaludon should be strong against:
- Poison
- Dragon
- Fairy
- Ice
- Rock
Make Archaludon a Steel Tera Type to counter Fairy, Ice, and Rock-Types. You’re going to need moves:
- Focus Energy
- Flash Cannon
- Hone Claws
- Metal Burst
Make Arcahludon a Dragon Tera Type to counter other Dragon Types weak to Steel or Rock. You’re going to need moves:
- Stone Edge
- Metal Sound
- Breaking Swipe
- Hyper Beam
Why Archaludon is Powerful:
- In the Dragon-Type category, Archaludon can reach 384 max HP. It can withstand many hits using Iron Defense and even summon Reflect and Light Screen to reduce damage.
- Archaludon can learn many Steel, Dragon, and Rock moves and a few Psychic, Dark, and Normal moves. It can learn powerful beam moves such as Solar Beam, Hyper Beam, Meteor Beam, and Steel Beam.
- Solar Beam will absorb light on the first turn. On the second turn, it deals 120 accurate damage. Hyper Beam deals 150 damage with 90 accuracy, but Archaludon must recharge on the next turn.
- Meteor Beam lets Archaludon gather space power and boosts its Special Attack stat on the 1’st turn, then deals 120 damage with 90 accuracy on the next turn. Steel Beam deals 140 damage with 95 accuracy, but Arcahludon loses 50% of its HP.
- Archaludon can lower the opponent’s Special Defense with Metal Sound and even has Electric-Type moves to paralyze the opponent, such as Electro Shot or Thunder. Metal Burst is Arcahludon’s best accurate Steel-Move, dealing damage equal to 1.5x the opponent's Attack.
- Give Archaludon the Shell Bell, allowing it to gain even more HP every time it attacks the opponent. Teach it Metal Sound, Metal Burst, Iron Defense, and Light Screen. This will allow it to boost heavy Defense, and make the opponent more vulnerable to Metal Burst’s effects.
4. Rayquaza (Legendary)
Rayquaza’s Best Stats:
- 414 HP
- 438 Attack
- 306 Defense
- 317 Speed
- 306 Special Defense
- 438 Special Attack
- Use a Quiet Mint
Rayquaza is a Flying and Dragon-Type Legendary.
Recommended Tera Type: Normal / Flying / Dragon / Dark
Analysis:
Rayquaza can be caught in the Indigo DLC after you beat Blueberry Academy’s story.
Rayquaza is a Flying and Dragon Type boasting immunity to Ground-Types. It’s ranked #4 because Rayquaza’s Attack and Special Attack are overwhelming, but it also has plenty of moveset flexibility and, surprisingly, is most powerful in its Normal Tera form.
As a Normal Tera Type, Rayquaza’s immune to Ghost and resists 13 Types! Its primary weakness is Fighting, Fire, and Stellar-Types.
Rayquaza has the Air Lock Ability, which is famous for eliminating weather effects, including move power increases, end-of-turn damage, accuracy changes, and relevant abilities. These effects are still relevant in Scarlet and Violet.
Rayquaza should be strong against:
- Ground
- Fighting
- Bug
- Grass
- Dragon
- Sometimes Ghost
- Sometimes Flying
Make Rayquaza a Normal Tera Type to counter most types besides Fighting. You’re going to need moves:
- Extreme Speed
- Swords Dance
- Protect
- Hyper Beam
Make Rayquaza a Flying Tera Type to counter mostly Fighting-Types. You’re going to need moves:
- Swords Dance
- Dragon Dance
- Fly
- Dragon Ascent
Make Rayquaza a Dragon Tera Type to counter Dragon hybrids with Fire, Water, Grass, and Electric-Types. You’re going to need moves:
- Swords Dance
- Dragon Dance
- Energy Ball
- Dragon Pulse
Make Rayquaza a Dark Tera Type to counter mostly Psychic Types. You’re going to need:
- Swords Dance
- Dragon Tail
- Crunch
- Fling (with the Iron Ball held item)
Purposely, the Rayquaza’s a great choice to try to defeat Legendary Pokémon in the likes of:
- Groudon
- Kyogre
- Mystical Pokémon
- Legendary Beasts
- Mewtew
- Arceus
- Deoxys
Why Rayquaza’s Powerful:
- Rayquaza can reach 415 max HP! While that’s a lot, Rayquaza can protect its low HP with the use of Protect or even Substitute.
- Rayquaza can learn a lot of moves, such as paralyzing opponents, burning them, or even freezing them, such as Wild Charge, Fire Blast, and Ice Beam.
- In double battles, it can trap opponents in Stealth Rock, punishing Pokémon who are switching in battle. It can also use Dragon Tail, dealing 60 accurate damage to the opponent and the opponent switches. If the opponent enables their move Trick Room, Dragon Tail goes before it, eliminating Trick Room being used at all!
- Hyper Beam is Rayquaza’s best move, dealing 150 accurate damage, but Rayquaza must recharge on the next turn. This pairs well when Extreme Speed goes first, and then Rayquaza can re-use Extreme Speed. Extreme Speed is a priority move that goes first, dealing 80 accurate damage.
- Dragon Ascent, Fling, and Draco Meteor are also powerful moves. Dragon Ascent deals 120 accurate damage but lowers the user's Defense and Special Defense by one stage each after attacking.
- Fling is when Rayquaza throws its Held Item at an opponent. With an Iron Ball, it cuts Rayquaza’s Speed, making it vulnerable to Ground-Type moves. When thrown, Fling deals 130 Damage!
- Draco Meteor deals 130 damage but lowers the Rayquaza’s Special Attack by two stages after attacking. Rayquaza can learn Earthquake, dealing 100 accurate damage to opponents on the ground!
- Give Rayquaza a Shell Bell, allowing it to gain even more HP every time it attacks the opponent. Teach it Aerial Ace, Swords Dance, Dragon Ascent, and Earthquake. Make it a Flying Tera Type to boost the use of Swords Dance and Dragon Ascent during Tera Raids.
3. Entei (Legendary Beast)
Entei’s Best Stats:
- 434 HP
- 361 Attack
- 295 Defense
- 328 Speed
- 273 Special Defense
- 306 Special Attack
- Use a Naughty Mint
Entei is a Fire-Type Legendary.
Recommended Tera Type: Fire / Ground / Psychic / Normal
Analysis:
Entei can be caught later in the game, completing all the DLC. Entei’s useful for tackling many of the later 6 Star Tera Raids and even participating in difficult 7 Star Tera Raids.
As a strong Fire-Type, Entei boasts reduced damage from Fairy, Ice, Grass, Steel, Bug, and other Fire-Types. It’s not immune to anything. It’s #3 on this list because Entei has moves that can support Fire, Ground, and Psychic Tera Raid builds. Also, its signature move, Eruption (150 damage), multiplies the damage to Entei’s current HP and then divides from its Max HP. Eruption can outpower Rayquaza’s Hyper Beam!
Entei has 2 Abilities, Pressure, and Inner Focus. Pressure makes any attack targeted at Entei, regardless of whether it hits, use 2 PP instead of 1. Inner Focus, the best one, prevents Entei from flinching.
Entei should be strong against:
- Fairy
- Ice
- Grass
- Steel
- Bug
- Other Fire Types
- Sometimes Electric
- Sometimes Rock
- Sometimes Fighting
- Sometimes Poison
Make Entei a Fire Tera Type to counter the types it's originally strong against. You’re going to need moves:
- Swagger
- Calm Mind
- Sunny Day
- Eruption
Make Entei a Ground Tera Type to counter mostly Electric and Rock type Pokémon. You’re going to need moves:
- Swagger
- Roar
- Sleep Talk (for Stomping Tantrum to work)
- Stomping Tantrum
Make Entei a Psychic Tera type to counter mostly Fighting and Poison type Pokémon. You’re going to need moves:
- Extreme Speed
- Sacred Fire
- Calm Mind
- Extrasensory
Make Entei a Normal Tera type to counter a wide variety of types besides Fighting-Types. You’re going to need moves:
- Snarl
- Sacred Fire
- Extreme Speed
- Bulldoze
Purposely, in Regulation G, Entei directly combats:
- Urshifu
- Ting-Lu
- Rillaboom
- Calyrex
- Kyurem
Entei’s a great choice to defeat Legendary Pokémon in the likes of:
- Mew
- Mewtwo
- Eternatus
- Flying Legendaris like Rayquaza
- Legendary Birds
- Regirock
- Regice
Why Entei is Powerful:
- Entei can reach 434 Max HP! Entei’s Max HP is important because it makes its move Eruption powerful. Eruption deals 150 accurate damage, multiplies the damage to Entei’s current HP, and divides from its Max HP.
- Entei can learn many Fire, Ground, and Psychic moves. While Eruption is its most powerful move, Sacred Fire is another one. Sacred Fire deals 100 damage with 95 accuracy and has a 50% chance of burning the target. Entei lives to give Legendaries a lava-like burn.
- Entei’s most powerful Ground move is Stomping Tantrum, but for it to work, it needs Sleep Talk. Stomping Tantrum requires a previous move that 100% fails for its damage to double. Sleep Talk only works when Entei’s asleep. Stomping Tantrum, in this case, deals 150 accurate damage!
- Entei can boost its Special Attack and Special Defense with Calm Mind. This pairs well with its powerful Psychic move Extrasensory, dealing 80 accurate damage and has a 10% chance of causing the target to flinch.
- With Sunny Day, Entei can boost its Fire-Type moves by 50% and decrease the power of Water-Types by 50%.
- Give Entei an Assault Vest. The Assault Vest increases Special Defense but prevents the use of status moves. Teach Entei Snarl, Sacred Fire, Extreme Speed, and Bulldoze. This moveset mostly combats Psy Spam teams (multiple same type Pokémon) in Competitive Double Battles. Extreme Speed is Entei’s most important move when Terastalized.
2. Eternatus (Legendary)
Eternatus’s Best Stats:
- 484 HP
- 295 Attack
- 317 Defense
- 394 Speed
- 317 Special Defense
- 427 Special Attack
- Use a Quiet Mint
Eternatus is a Poison and Dragon-Type Legendary.
Recommended Tera Type: Steel / Poison / Dragon / Psychic
Analysis:
Eternatus can be transported into Scarlet and Violet early game if you have Pokémon Sword and Shield or Pokémon Go through Pokémon Home.
One of the many reasons Eternatus is #2 on this list is that as a Poison and Dragon-Type, it takes reduced damage from Grass, Fighting, Water, Fire, Bug, Electric, and other Poison-Types. If it’s a Steel Tera Type, it can be immune to Poison and resist even more types.
Eternatus only has 1 Ability, Pressure, so if an attack is targeted at Eternatus, regardless of whether it hits, the opponent can only use 2 PP instead of 1. This can stress the opponent as Eternatus can follow up with its powerful Poison-Type moves as its main status condition!
Eternatus should be strong against:
- Grass
- Fairy
- Dragon
- Bug
- Fighting
- Sometimes Fire
- Sometimes Water
- Sometimes Electric
- Sometimes Rock
Make Eternatus a Steel Tera Type to make it immune to Poison. Counter mostly powerful Fairy and Dragon-Types. You’re going to need moves:
- Cosmic Power
- Dragon Dance
- Flash Cannon
- Dynamax Cannon
Make Eternatus a Poison Tera type to counter mostly Fairy and Grass Types. You’re going to need moves:
- Cosmic Power
- Dragon Dance
- Cross Poison
- Sludge Bomb
Make Eternatus a Dragon Tera Type to counter Dragon or other Elemental-Types. You’re going to need moves:
- Dragon Dance
- Cosmic Power
- Dynamax Cannon
- Gunk Shot
Make Eternatus a Psychic Tera type to counter Fighting and other Poison-Types. You’re going to need moves:
- Cosmic Power
- Reflect
- Dragon Dance
- Gunk Shot
Why Eternatus is Powerful:
- Eternatus can reach 484 Max HP! It can greatly protect its HP with the heavy use of defensive moves such as Cosmic Power, Reflect, Light Screen, Agility, and Protect. Cosmic Power increases Eternatus’s Defense and Special Defense by one stage each. It can be extremely hard to bring down its HP when its Defense increases by 6 stages.
- Eternatus can learn lots of Poison and Dragon moves. Dynamax Cannon is its most powerful Dragon-Type move, dealing 100 accurate damage. Gunk Shot is its most powerful Poison-Type move, dealing 120 damage with 80 accuracy. It has a 30% chance of poisoning the target.
- Eternatus can use Fly to evade attacks and deal 90 damage with 95 accuracy. It can heal half of its HP with the use of Rest.
- By using Cosmic Power and Dragon Dance together, Eternatus is overpowered with offense and defense. Dragon Dance increases Eternatus’s Attack and Speed by one stage each.
- It can create other status conditions, such as burns with a Flamethrower and even hiding behind a Substitute.
- Give Eternatus the Life Orb, which increases the power of moves but loses HP each turn. Teach it Dynamax Cannon, Recover, Sludge Bomb, and Flamethrower. This is useful in competitive double battles!
1. Mightiest Mark Dondozo
Mightiest Mark Dondozo’s Best Stats:
- 504 HP
- 328 Attack
- 361 Defense
- 185 Speed
- 251 Special Defense
- 251 Special Attack
- Use a Brave Mint
The Mightiest Mark Dondozo is a Water-Type Pokémon with a Water Tera Type. Though not Legendary, Dondozo is the False Dragon Titan in Scarlet and Violet’s story.
Recommended Tera Type: Water (DO NOT CHANGE IT)
Analysis:
The Mightiest Mark Dondozo event already happened.
Alternatively, you can jump back into Caseroya Lake and find it. You can train its stats in a way similar to the Mightiest Mark’s version.
The Mightiest Mark Dondozo is a powerful Water Pokémon that has a specific moveset:
- Wave Crash
- Order Up
- Earthquake
- Avalanche
- Unaware Ability
The Mightiest Dondozo is #1 on this list because of its relationship with Tatsurigi in Double Battles. The move Order Up deals 80 damage toward the opponent while boosting Dondozo’s stat depending on which Tatugiri is in its mouth.
Types of Tatsugiri:
- Orange Tatsugiri raises Dondozo’s Attack.
- Pink Tatsugiri raises Dondozo’s Defense.
- Yellow Tatsugiri raises Dondozo’s Speed.
When Dondozo swaps into battle, Tatsugiri uses its Commander Ability to go into Dondozo’s mouth. Tatsugiri becomes untouchable to attacks and can’t attack in battle. While Tatsugiri is inside Dondozo, Dondozo gets +2 in all its stats.
Dondozo is the only Pokémon that can act on your team. Dondozo should use the move Order Up plenty of times until Orange Tatsugiri faints (from holding Toxic Orb), maxing out its Attack stat.
The Mightiest Mark Dondozo’s Ability is Unaware. When it attacks, the Pokémon ignores the target’s stat changes.
The Mightiest Mark Dondozo should be strong against:
- Fire
- Ground
- Rock
- Normal
- Sometimes Steel
- Sometimes Ice
- Sometimes Dragon
- Sometimes Water
- Sometimes Fairy
As the Mightiest Marks are already tweaked to certain stats and moves, it’s advised to keep its original Tera Type and original Ability.
The Mightiest Mark Dondozo’s moves won’t disappear if you want to change it.
Purposely, the Mightiest Mark Dondozo is a great choice to try to defeat many Legendaries in the likes of:
- Eternatus
- Rayquaza
- Legendary Beasts (excluding Raikou)
- Legendary Birds (excluding Zapados)
- Mystic Pokémon
- Mew
- Mewtwo
- Arceus
Why Mightiest Mark Dondozo’s powerful:
- Dondozo can reach 504 Max HP! It can use many Defense moves such as Protect, Rest, and Substitute. Also, Noble Roar decreases the opponent's Attack and Special Attack by one stage each, forcing opponents to become weaker every turn.
- The move Order Up deals 80 damage toward the opponent while boosting Dondozo’s stat depending on which Tatugiri is in its mouth. Orange Tatsugiri is its best.
- Other moves that Dondozo can learn to become so OP are the use of Dive, Rain Dance, and Hydro Pump. Dive makes Dondozo hide underwater on the first turn, disappearing from view and invulnerable to most attacks. On the second turn, Dive deals 80 accurate damage.
- Rain Dance boosts Dondozo’s Water-Type by 50% and decreases the power of Fire-Type moves by 50%. Hydro Pump deals 110 damage with 80 accuracy.
- Dondozo’s Wave Crash deals 120 damage but it receives 1⁄3 of the damage it inflicted in recoil. Dondozo can also learn Hyper Beam, dealing 150 accurate damage, but must recharge on the next turn.
- Dondozo can be super aggressive with Supersonic and Tickle. Supersonic causes the target to become confused. Tickle decreases the target's Attack and Defense by one stage each. Dondozo can use Yawn to make the target fall asleep! Dondozo can also learn Earthquake dealing 100 accurate damage to every Pokémon in the field.
- From Generation 1 - Generation 9, there isn't a Pokémon with Water-Type immunity besides Grass taking reduced damage from Water. Dondozo can destroy Grass Types with its Ice Type moves, such as Avalanche, dealing 60 accurate damage but doubles if Dondozo takes damage first. This boosts more with Tatsurigi in its mouth!
- Dondozo can defeat Arceus by using Fissure, which is guaranteed to make the opponent faint. Its accuracy increases if Dondoo is at a higher level than the target Pokémon but fails if the target is at a higher level. Flail is another OP move and deals 200 accurate damage if Dondozo’s HP is in a pinch. Grounded Legendary Pokémon don't have a chance against Dondozo.
- Give Dondozo Leftovers as a Held Item. Dondozo’s HP slowly but steadily restores throughout the battle. Teach it Order Up, Noble Roar, Flail, and Tera Blast. With Tatsugiri, this is an ideal build for Double Battles threatening to weaken your opponent's Attack and Special Attack stats. If Dondozo comes close to having less HP, use Flail.
