1. Rematch all gyms and Re-Doing the Academy Ace Tournament
If you defeated them once, you can defeat them all again! After beating the final boss, Geeta wants you to rematch all the gyms to unlock the Academy Ace Tournament. Her and Nemona will set up the academy Ace Tournament once you defeat all the gyms and Team Star for a 2’nd time
You should do this if you love battling a lot! Gym Battles and the Academy Ace Tournament can generate reliable income for your avatar by earning lots of prize money.
Now, you can’t rematch all 6 gyms and Team Star for the 3’rd time, but when you defeat the Academy Ace Tournament, it becomes endless.
This post-game event is challenging because the Gym Leaders will use the same Pokémon. They’re levels 65-72. Level up your Pokémon to Level 70 or 100 to make life easier.
Advice for the Academy Ace Tournament for the 1’st time:
Plan to level up a Garchomp to level 100, Garchomp can KO most trainers. With a Level 100 Garchomp, there should be almost no need to switch to other Pokémon.
Garchomp’s moveset in the Academy Ace Tournament for the 1'st time:
- Dragon Claw (increase Dragon Claw’s PP to its max)
- Earthquake (increase Earthquake’s PP to its max)
- Power Gem (increase Power Gem’s PP to its max)
- Liquidation (increase Liquidation’s PP to its max)
- Water Tera Type is best
- Have it hold a Muscle Band or Shell Bell, both work excellent!
Lucario, Gardevoir, Altaria, Gyrados, and Dragonite are great backup Pokémon. If Garchomp faints, have one of the backup Pokémon swap in, and plan to revive and heal Garchomp.
Why it’s fun:
- The Academy Ace Tournament is exciting! You can battle against your professors and even Arven or Penny at times. Every time you rematch the Academy Ace Tournament, it randomizes who you will face.
- The Academy Ace Tournament is a reliable way to earn fast money post-game and sometimes level up your Pokémon simultaneously.
- You can also get many prizes in the end, such as Vitamins, Rare Candy, Beast Balls, or even an Ability Patch! You must keep doing the tournament to get tons of rewards and prize money, which takes hours.
2. Catch 4 Treasures of Ruin Pokémon
Catching the 4 Treasures of Ruin Pokémon is one of the best post-game side quests to do. It’s a side quest within a side quest because it’s tied to Mrs. Raifort’s Friendship side quest. Follow this useful video starting from Mrs. Raifort’s Friendship side quest.
Catching the 4 Treasures of Ruin Pokémon is one of the best rewarding side quests because you’ll battle and catch powerful Pokémon who are most dominant in online ranked double battles. These Pokémon are Wo-Chien, Chien-Pao, Chi-Yu, and Ting-Lu.

- Ghost
- Psychic
- Flying
- Ground
- Grass
- Dragon
Chi-Yu is a Dark and Fire-type, strong against:

Why it’s fun:
- You get to learn more about Mrs. Raifort, and in return, you catch these Ruin Pokémon! In her history class she informs lore about these Ruin Pokémon. As you keep learning in class, players get villainous vibes from her, suspecting if she’s even part of a Pokémon Villain Team.
- You get to unlock cool Fast Travel shrine locations. It makes it easier to return to the Ruin Pokémon when you retrieve all the stakes. There’s plenty of exploring around those ominous shrines. It’s like discovering a mystery.
- The battles against the Ruin Pokémon can be challenging, including catching them!
3. Gimmighoul Treasures, Coins and evolving a Gholdengo
Gholdengo is a new rare Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet, as it is a Ghost and Steel Type Pokémon with immunity bragging rights to Normal, Fighting, and Poison! Its ability is Good as Gold, giving it full immunity to other Pokémon’s status moves. You must achieve 999 Coins of its Roaming Form to evolve a Gimmighoul to a Gholdengo.
Finding the Gimmighouls in its Roaming Form can be challenging to find. Here’s a useful video for you to follow along.
Why it’s fun:
- If you love exploring, catching, and battling wild Pokémon, you'll love this post-game side quest. If you like going to ruins and watchtowers you’ll enjoy this. It feels like an excavating journey.
- These Gimmighouls are all over Paldea, in regions you may not have explored yet. Go to the top of the watchtowers and enjoy the views.
- Find some items lurking around your journey because some may be rare, such as a Rare Bone or a Comet Shard nearby.
- You get to see Gimmighoul evolve into Ghoulengo in the end, and you can bring your Ghoulengo to your Online Tera Raids and Competitive Battles.
4. Defeat the Ogre Clan!
Defeating the Ogre Clan is another battle mission set in Kitakami.
Their battles are relatively easy and exciting. They specialize in Electric, Water, Ghost, Dark, Fairy, Normal, Grass, Ground, Poison, Rock, Steel, and Fighting. Follow this video if you’re having a difficult time finding some of them.
Here are the clan rewards:
- Assault Vest
- Choice Specs
- Choice Band
- Focus Sash
- Ex. Candy XL x5
- Rare Candy x 10
- Ability Capsule x3
- Ability Patch All
Why it’s fun:
- This post-game side quest makes players explore more of Kitakami and discover new places they haven’t been in. You may run into some useful and rare Pokémon such as Carbite, a Rock and Fairy-Type Pokémon.
The Ogre Clan’s weird and goofy; you’ll earn battle money after battling them. Return to the Ogre Clan NPC by the Kitakami Stairs to earn rewards after beating some of the Ogre Clan members. You’ll earn useful rewards like Rare Candy, Exp. Candy Large, and even an Ability Patch!
5. Go crazy with Ogre Outsin.
Ogre Outsin' is a fun and short minigame located in Kitakami Hall. This minigame makes Scarlet and Violet stand out from its Sword and Shield predecessor, making it another excellent online option to play with friends.
Expert opinion:
Ogre Outsin' is underrated because it’s a fast paced mini game that rewards players Mochis. Mochis are better than feathers because Mochis gives 10 points in a Pokémon’s single base stat. Also, the mini game awards players the Exp. Charm which increases the Exp. Points your Pokémon get. Watch this video if you're attempting Ogre Outsin' for the first time.
Rewards only for solo:
- In Easy mode for 3 rounds, players earn an Exp. Charm, Air Balloon, and 3 Nuggets.
- In Normal mode for 6 rounds, players earn a Fairy Feather and Big Nugget.
- In Hard mode, for 10 rounds, players earn a Shiny Munchlax.
Repeating Rewards and Online:
- Ev-Reducing Berries
- Ev-Feathers
- Mints
- Treasures
- Mochi - Clever, Fresh Start, Genius, Health, Muscle, Resist, Swift
- Exp. Candy
- Tera Shards
- Variety of Berries
- Evolution Items
Why it’s fun:
- Ogre Outsin’ is a goofy, fast-paced game with a stressful timer when the rounds increase. Part of the intriguing challenge is that Miraidon can only carry a limited amount as you pop the balloons. When you’re even a number off with little time left, you must rush to pop more balloons! Also, wild Pokémon try to eat the berries!
- In online mode, it’s crazy! You and your friends ride Miraidon together rushing to pop balloons out. It’s energetic and challenges your teamwork.
- Players get to earn rarer awards, such as Mochi and the Fairy Feather. Mochi, unlike Feathers, increases a Pokémon’s EV by 10. The Fairy Feather is a Held Item that boosts Fairy-Type moves.
6. Secret Coaches and the Secret Boss Fight
Invite the Gym Leaders and some of your NPC friends to Blueberry Academy! It’s been a while since you finished the game, so you should catch up with them.
You can invite Secret Coaches in Blueberry Academy through the League Club Room’s computer. It’s part of the process to spawn the Secret Boss fight. By inviting the Secret Coaches, they give you some rewards too! The Secret Boss fight is challenging, so bring your most powerful Pokémon.
Why it's fun:
- When you invite the Secret Coaches, you interact with them and have the option to battle them again! If you miss rematching them, it’s worth it, and you get some rewards when you invite them.
- The Secret Boss fight is challenging and exciting! You’ll enjoy the cutscenes without any spoilers with this Secret Boss in particular. The battle becomes endless after you defeat the Secret Boss for the first time, making it worth it to earn more rewards.
7. Catch Paradox Pokémon and Legendaries!
These 2 activities are related because of how popular these Pokémon are in Online Ranked Battles. From Gouging Fire to Kyurem, don’t miss out on them!
To catch Paradox Pokémon, talk to Perrin in Blueberry Academy’s Terarium.
To catch Legendaries, talk to Snacksworth by the school’s entrance.
These 2 activities are side quests, and the only reward is the Pokémon themselves. The tasks are fairly easy, such as registering 200 Pokémon for Perrin and finishing lots of BBQ quests.
Why it’s fun:
- These quests allow you to explore the rest of the game’s environment and test your Pokémon seeking skills.
- You get to battle the Paradox and Legendary Pokémon! They’re brutal, so save right away before you fight them.
- Catching Paradox and Legendaries are super rewarding as they are OP Pokémon and have unique Abilities. Prepare yourself with a good team to battle against your friends online!
8. Finish the Epilogue, Mochi Mayhem
Mochi Mayhem is the exclusive epilogue of Pokémon Violet, where your friends from Paldea interact with your friends from Kitakami and Blueberry Academy. Violet Players must download the Mythical Pecha Berry online to start this side quest.
Along this side quest, you'll earn cool prizes like battle money and catching Pechalunt. After finishing the side quest, you can call Nemona, Arven, and Penny as special coaches in Blueberry Academy! They'll also give you some items.
Why it’s fun:
- If you love mysteries, mythical Pokémon, and a great storyline that feels like a Pokémon anime episode, you'll love doing this special post-game side quest. Somehow, the villagers get brainwashed under Pechalunt’s control!
- Mochi Mayhem is genuinely one of the best things to do in the endgame because it makes Pokémon Violet’s story come full circle. Watch your Paldea and Kitakami friends banter as you all work together on a silly and heartfelt mission.
- The battles in this side quest are exciting and laid-back. It’s a short side quest with only 5 phases of battles and is mostly made for entertaining purposes. Watch the cutscenes, and enjoy great dialogue and storytelling.
9. Find All Sandwich Ingredients and Recipes
If you love Sandwiches, finding Pokémon, and participating in raids, finding all Sandwich ingredients is important. Sandwiches have different effects for different purposes and support most of your main and post-game journeys in Scarlet and Violet.
During post-game events, the popular sandwiches to make are Shiny Power Sandwiches, Raid Drop Power Sandwiches, and Exp. Point Power Sandwiches.
Players want to Shiny Hunt during official Pokémon mass outbreak events or get many items or Exp. Points after an online Tera Raid.
This database helps you understand what sandwiches exist in Scarlet and Violet and their effects.
Why it’s fun:
- If you’re a completionist, explorer, and creative multitasker who loves picnics, you’ll love finding all the sandwich ingredients and recipes.
- During this task, you get to explore a lot of the game and interact with the NPCs who run the shops. It’s nice to spot your favorite shops, especially if you frequent them. It also allows you to have a deeper understanding of Paldea’s cities.
Having all the ingredients and recipes helps you build creative strategies for what you need to do post-game. It could be making Raid Exp. Drop Power Sandwiches to level up a particular Pokémon of your liking. You may need to make certain Encounter Power Sandwiches to complete the Pokédex.
10. Completing the Pokédex, Getting the Shiny Charm and Shiny Hunting
This large post-game task heavily intersects with the use of the Pokédex. You'll love this task if you're a completionist, explorer, and Shiny Pokémon enthusiast.
To make Shiny Hunting easier, you need the Shiny Charm. To get the Shiny Charm, you must catch 400 Pokémon in the Paldea Pokédex. That's all the Paldea Pokémon, making it an enormous task. To receive the Shiny Charm, you have to talk to Jacq.
Why it’s fun:
- If you really want to "Gotta Catch 'em All," completing the Pokédex is exciting, and you can research which Pokémon you missed.
- Immerse yourself in the areas you haven't explored in the game, and dive deeper into a Pokémon's biography and skills. Every region in Paldea, Kitakami, and Blueberry Academy has unique Pokémon worth catching as they're part of the gameplay and storytelling.
- You can catch Shiny Pokémon more easily with the Shiny Charm. Shinies aren't known for their stats, but they're known for their rare good looks. Show off your Shiny Pokémon to your friends!
- Seek even rarer Shiny Pokémon in mass outbreaks. It may take longer than usual, but it's worth it if you have the patience. They can have rare marks such as the Vigor Mark. Here's a past example of an Official Pokémon mass outbreak event.
11. Black Crystal Tera Raid Events (5 - 7 Star)
Black Crystal 5 - 7 Star Tera Raid Events make most of the fun in Scarlet and Violet. It's filled with fast-paced energy and allows you to develop a strategy with online players. Test your mettle and face the Mightiest Mark Pokémon.
5 - 7 Star Tera Raids share similar awards. 7 Star Mightiest Mark Tera Raids is the most significant because it drops the most Hebra Mystica, Tera Shards, Comet Shards, and Exp. Candy XL. 7 Star Tera Raids guarantee an Ability Patch. Here's an example of Serperior's datamine.
Requirements:
To unlock Black Crystal Tera Raid Events, finish most of the story by defeating the Academy Ace Tournament for the 1'st time. Defeat lots of 5 Star Raids to unlock 6 Star, and defeat lots of 6 Star Tera Raids to unlock 7 Star. Jacq should call you about 7 Star Black Crystals and that you shouldn't go near them. Ignore Jacq and join the fun!
More relevant information:
Stay tuned to the Official Pokémon Scarlet and Violet event page for more information about new Tera Raids.
Why it’s fun:
- Players of all skills team up and strategize a plan to catch the Tera Pokémon. 6 and 7 Star Tera Raids are the most difficult and have really good item drops such as Hebra Mystica, Tera Crystals, Feathers, and even an Ability Patch. The online battle is energetic and boosts your adrenaline with exciting music.
- Play online with your friends to tackle difficult Tera Raids! Establish creative strategies to prevent the Tera Pokémon from decreasing its Special Attack stats and breaking its Tera Shield.
- Play online with random players to tackle difficult Tera Raids! A diversity of online players may struggle with Tera Raids and may need help, so if you already know how to defeat the Tera Raid, you can host one and help them out.
12. Try Online Competitive Battling
Do what Pokémon is most well known for as 1 player cheers for victory and the other boo-hoos all the way home. Competitive Battle is even better in Scarlet and Violet, as new seasons and new regulations always make the online feature vibrant and active. Bring your best Pokémon, even your Pseudo Pokémon, Mythical Pokémon, Paradox Pokémon, and even Legendary if applicable.
While Casual Battles could be fun for some, they are also rigged because they are a space for competitive players to test an online rental team. This is so they don't lose their ranking.
These players aren't trying to play for fun and just go for 1 move KO's. The best way to "really" battle for fun is through Union Circle Mode, where you can play with your friends.
If you want heavier competition and tournaments, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet has made it even better with creative regulations. The best competitive Regulation was Regulation G, where players can enter 1 Legendary on their team and add other OP Pokémon.
Depending on the date you're reading this, Regulation H is in effect and lasts until January 4, 2025. Watch this YouTube channel that talks about some of the teams you may fight against.
Why it's fun:
- Compete with other players online in solo and double battles! Rise to the rankings if you can, and bring your high-level Pokémon.
- Test out online rental teams, they may have Pokémon that you don't! This requires some self-internet research, while reliable sources like VGC post the winners' team. It's okay to borrow them for non-official tournaments, and usually, they're tested through Casual Battles, where winning doesn't necessarily matter because you won't lose your ranking.
- You and your friends can organize your own custom tournament with custom regulations. Play casually with each other or make it insanely difficult. A great informal idea could be to use only Dragon-Type or Legendary Pokémon. Another could be only used Dark-type Pokémon.
- If you want to get real, join Pokémon official tournaments. Many players love Pokémon as much as you do, and it's fun to join an official community. See if you can tough it out on vigorous battles! It requires a Nintendo Online Account, and you must select your appropriate age group.
