[Top 3] Pokemon TCG Best Psychic Decks

A look at the top three psychic decks in the Pokemon TCG.
Teehee. You think you can beat psychic decks?

Hello all you fans of the Pokemon Trading Card Game and casual readers. Today we’ll be looking at the top three psychic focused decks from the Pokemon Trading Card game. These are the decks that I personally play. Honorable mention to Mewtwo & Mew, my personal favorite, that will not make this list because it loses to these other decks mostly because of Weakness. Let’s see how the rest stack up.

3. Malamar

Giratina from Lost Thunder, Malamar from Ultra Prism, and Necrozma GX from Burning Shadows.

  • This deck is centered around Malamar from Forbidden Light. This Stage 1 Pokemon has the Psychic Recharge ability, which allows you to attach a psychic energy from your discard to one of your Benched Pokemon. Many different Pokemon can benefit from this ability such as…
  • Ultra Necrozma GX, Necrozma GX, Giratina & Garchomp GX, and, most notably, Giratina from Lost Thunder. This Basic Pokemon had 130 HP and an ability that allowed you to put them onto your Bench from your Discard Pile. This meant that you could reuse it over and over while Malamar reused your energy over and over.

Here’s one version of the deck list:

  • 4 Inkay FLI 50
  • 4 Malamar FLI 51

  • 3 Viridian Forest TEU 156
  • 2 Shrine of Punishment CES 143

Energy - 8

  • 7 Psychic Energy
  • 1 Recycle Energy UNM 212

2. Dragapult

Horror energy from Rebel Clash, Dragapult VMAX from Rebel Clash, and Inteleon from Chilling Reign.

  • Dragapult VMAX has 320 HP and the Max Phantom attack. This attack costs two energy and deals 130 damage while also dealing 50 damage to your opponent’s Benched Pokemon. This attack is quick and can mess with whatever your opponent is planning on the bench.
  • If the initial damage of Dragapult’s attack is not enough, then using Inteleon’s Quick Shooting ability should help just fine. This ability allows you to put 20 damage on whoever you want.
  • Horror energy can also be played with this deck for some more extra, tricky damage.

1. Shadow Rider Calyrex

  • Shadow Rider Calyrex VMAX is one of the cards to come out of Chilling Reign. It has 320 HP and the Underworld Door ability which allows you to attach a psychic energy from your hand to one of your Benched psychic Pokemon and draw two cards. This ability helps to power up the Max Geist attack, which deals 10 damage plus 30 more for each energy attached to all of your Pokemon in play. This attack can output as much damage as you need.
  • Shadow Rider’s main weakness is its Weakness. Any dark type Pokemon deals two times the damage to it, so it’s helpful to have a Pokemon without a dark Weakness. Introducing Alcremie VMAX. This Pokemon has the Adornment attack which can attach energy from your deck and the G-Max Whisk attack. For two energy, G-Max Whisk deals 60 damage for each energy you discard from your Pokemon.
  • When it comes to Trainers, Fog Crystal is incredibly useful for getting Basic Pokemon and energy while the Training Court Stadium can get the energy you’ll be using back out of your Discard Pile.

Fog Crystal from Chilling Reign, Alcremie VMAX from Champions Path, and Training Court from Rebel Clash.
