Money makes the world go round, and this is also true for your sims in The Sims 4. In the game you need simoleons to do pretty much anything, so you need to figure out how to get some cash. Luckily, this is what we will be talking about today. These are the top five ways to make money in The Sims 4.

5. Open a Business

Although it can cost a good amount to start and maintain in the beginning, once a business becomes profitable it can make more than 2,000 simoleons a day. In order to make a lot of money from retail stores with Get to Work, you need to sell valuable things, and for restaurants and vet clinics from the Dine Out and Cats and Dogs expansion packs you need to get a 5 star rating. For restaurants it also helps if you sell pricey food.

How To Open a Business:

  • Go to the phone and select purchase a business or click on the icon on the far right side on the bottom of the screen.
  • This will take you to manage worlds where you select and purchase your desired lot.

How To Build Your Own Business

  • Select a lot in manage worlds and select the build icon.
  • Make sure you specify that it is a retail store (or something else depending on what you want). This will be off to the upper left hand side.
  • Follow the instructions that they give you. There will be items that you will need to buy in order for the lot to be classified as a business.

4. Get a Job

Getting a job is one of the most reliable ways to make money. There are many jobs to choose from, but the highest paying is the interstellar smuggler through the astronaut career path, where you rake in 14,868 simoleons per week once you reach the top.

To get a job:

  • Go to the phone or computer and select household
  • Select what career you want
  • Follow the instructions seen when selecting the job icon at the bottom of the screen to get a promotion and make more simoleons

3. Collect Rare Items

Although it helps for you to have the Jungle Adventure pack, you can collect rare items with just the base game. You can make a lot of money this way, with many rare collectables being worth over 200 simoleons.

How To Find Rare Collectables:

  • Go out to any world (worlds like Silverdorada,Sixam, and Granite Falls have more rare items)
  • Find rock formations, plants, or logs and look for objects
  • Sell them from your inventory

2. Gardening

You can make a good amount gardening, especially if you accumulate a ton of plants. You make more after evolving them as well, which is an interaction you get after reaching level 2 of the gardening skill.

How To Become a Gardener

  • Collect plants from wild plants in the world or purchase seed packets from the computer (you can now get them from build and buy mode as well)
  • Open the seed packet from your inventory
  • Place the flower, fruit, etc on the ground outside or in a planter
  • Select it to plant
  • Water, weed, fertilize, etc. and watch your plants flourish
  • Evolve your plants to make even more simoleons

1. Become a Freelance Worker

Freelance work can make you as much or as little simoleons as you want. Writing and video game programming can make you the most because you make royalties everyday. However, paintings can be worth a lot too, making you over 1,000 simoleons once you have your painting skill up. You can also craft items using the woodworking table, which gives you some money after reaching high levels of the handiness skill

How To Become a Freelance Worker:

  • Buy a computer, easel, or woodworking table or easel (depending on what you want to do)
  • Get to work! (you won’t make very much at first, but you will once you build up your skill in that area)
  • Sell your painting by selecting it and clicking sell to a collector/art gallery
  • Sell crafted items by selling them from your inventory (small items are in your sim’s inventory and larger items are found in your household inventory in build and buy mode)
