To Triumph Over The Stardew Valley Mines, You'll Need a Solid Weapon
Whether you’re braving the mines or fending off monsters on the Wilderness Farm, you must have a reliable weapon to stay safe in Stardew Valley. Although you start with basic farm tools and a rusty sword, they won’t take you far. To work your way through the mines in search of treasure, you’ll need a better weapon. From swords to slingshots to hammers, these five best weapons will ensure your safety and give you the power to explore further into the game.
5. Obsidian Edge
Upon reaching level 90 in the mines, a chest awaits you—a reward for your hard-fought battles. Inside that chest waits a wicked-sharp, dark blade: Obsidian Edge.
Obsidian Edge has excellent base damage of 30-45, plus a +10 boost to any critical strikes you land. Although it will cut down enemies quickly with raw power, it does have a small (-1) decrease to speed.
In-Game Description: It’s incredibly sharp.
Level: 9
Damage: 30-45
Critical Strike Chance: 0.02
Stats: (-1 speed), (+10 crit. power)

4. The Lava Katana
After reaching the bottom level of the mines (level 120), this lava-forged blade appears for sale from the Adventurer’s Guild. It costs a hefty 25,000 gold, but it will keep you safe as you head into the harrowing skull mine.
The Lava Katana is a big step up from Obsidian Edge, and you will notice the difference right away. It does even greater damage (55-60), boosts defense (+3), and gains even more strength in critical strikes (+25). It also has the power to throw enemies back much further, which will help you stay safe. The only downside to the Lava Katana is a slight decrease in critical strike chance compared to most other swords.
In-Game Description: A powerful blade forged in a pool of churning lava.
Level: 15
Damage: 55-64
Critical Strike Chance: 0.015
Stats: (+3 defense), (+25 crit. power), (+3 weight)

3. The Master Slingshot
In level 70 of the mines, you’ll find the master slingshot. It deals double the damage of the regular slingshot and can use a variety of items for ammo—not just stones.
The power of any slingshot is determined by the ammo used with it, and the master slingshot is no exception. However, it does twice the damage of a regular slingshot, and with the best ammo (iridium ore) can do up to a staggering 202 points of damage. It is a ranged weapon as well, meaning you don’t have to get up close and personal with monsters if you are vigilant. Although the master slingshot can do amazing damage with the right ammo, iridium ore is difficult to source and can be used for other important things—and using mediocre ammo just doesn’t have the same effect, which is why the master slingshot is only number three on our list despite its potential prowess.
In-Game Description: Requires stones for ammo.
Level: n/a
Damage: With the worst ammo (fruits, vegetables, eggs) 2-6 damage
With the best ammo (iridium ore) 50-202 damage
Critical Strike Chance: 0.02
Stats: none

2. The Galaxy Hammer
Once you obtain the mysterious Galaxy Sword, the Galaxy Hammer appears for sale in the Adventurer’s Guild. It costs a whopping 75,000 gold for good reason. This is the best hammer—and one of the best weapons in the game.
The Galaxy Hammer does an enormous amount of damage (70-90), and has the benefit of throwing enemies way back with its +5 weight. It is the best hammer in the game, and an incredibly powerful weapon, but like other hammers, it is considerably slower to wield than a sword. The Galaxy Hammer makes up some of that difference with a +2 boost to speed, but you’ll still have to take extra care in combat to time your hits just right.
In-Game Description: It’s made from an ultra-light material you’ve seen before.
Level: 9
Damage: 70-90
Critical Strike Chance: 0.02
Stats: (+2 speed) (+5 weight)

And that brings us to the best weapon in all of Stardew Valley…
1. The Galaxy Sword
The enigmatic and powerful Galaxy Sword appears to those who bring a rare Prismatic Shard to the three pillars in the Calico Desert. A strange cutscene accompanies its appearance. This is the end-game weapon of Stardew Valley—the most powerful weapon in the entire game.
The Galaxy Sword deals an impressive 60-80 points of damage per strike, and unlike the Galaxy Hammer, it is fast. With its +4 speed, the Galaxy Sword whips out lightning-fast with each strike to tear down your enemies. It has no downsides, will keep you safe whether you time your strikes well or not due to its sheer speed, and it doesn’t cost a fortune in gold to obtain. The Galaxy Sword lives up to its title as the best weapon in all of Stardew Valley, and it will make cutting your way through the mines feel like a breeze.
In-Game Description: It’s unlike anything you’ve ever seen.
Level: 26
Damage: 60-80
Critical Strike Chance: 0.02
Stats: (+4 speed)
How to get the Galaxy Sword:
Whether you prefer the raw strength and knockback power of the Galaxy Hammer or the deadly speed of its cousin the Galaxy Sword, these five weapons are sure to keep you safest as you adventure through Stardew Valley. The mines will feel less daunting, and battles will become faster and more efficient. So if you’ve been stubbornly hanging on to that Rusty Sword as you struggle your way further into the mines, consider giving one of these amazing weapons a chance. It might just make your life a lot easier.
