Are there important side quests that you should not miss?
Like some games, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have many hidden side quests to 100% the game. Few are visible, such as completing Uva/Naranja Academy or interacting with NPC's with an orange dialogue box like Perrin in Kitakami.
It’s easy to miss out on awesome side quests that give you certain awards, such as access to all times, new gameplay, and exciting Pokémon. Did you know there’s a Secret Boss and a side quest to get Miraidon’s Fly Ability? Continue to learn more.
15 . Buying all clothing items and accessories
For many Pokémon fans who’ve enjoyed customizations in Sword and Shield, you can customize your character in Scarlet and Violet. In Scarlet and Violet, there are more options to customize your avatar when you explore the diversity of its shops. Nothing prompts this side quest, it starts whenever you feel like you’d like a change of style.
You Should Do It Because:
- If you love Pokémon, fashion, collecting stuff, and a healthy dose of Pokémon Snap, this side quest is for you. This side quest does count to 100% the game, and starting it is easy. Buy stuff from all stores in Paldea, Kitikami, and Blueberry Academy.
- If you want a more customized character, you can change your looks all the time! You should never be unhappy with how your avatar looks, and Scarlet and Violet allow players to get extremely creative with what their avatar wears.
- If you like taking selfies with your Pokémon, you can take photos of yourself in the game's scenery, such as when having picnics with them. If you’re a gaming streamer, you can post those photos on your socials to build more engagement with viewers.
- If you absolutely love the Union Circle mode, you can take selfies with your friends in the game. You and your friends can even set up your own fashion show or show off your photography with each other. It’s boring wearing the same thing, so wear something more exciting and impress your friends!
Advice and Helpful Information:
The duration of this side quest differs based on how you play the game.
It requires tons of money or LP if you really want all of them.
This may be difficult throughout the story because you have to complete the gyms or at least do many Tera Raids.
This side quest is easier to do after you defeat the Academy Ace Tournament once, and you can frequent the tournament to win more money in bulk.
Alternatively, you can explore and find a lot of stuff on the ground, which you can sell to the Poké Mart, such as Big Pearls.
How to do buy all clothing and accessories in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet:
If you’re in the middle of completing the game’s story, start by exploring all the shops in Mesagoza. From there everything else should be self explanatory.
Here’s a video link about how to get all the clothing items/accessories.
14. Get all 151 Sandwich Ingredients and Recipes (100% all sandwiches)
There are so many sandwiches to make in Scarlet and Violet. Sandwiches are essential for many things, from encounter and raid power to sparkling power! Getting all the ingredients and recipes counts to 100% of the game, but it also helps with many of the activities, from hatching Pokémon eggs to catching shinies.
You Should Do It Because:
- If you're a huge collector and love completing the Pokédex, sandwiches can expedite your Pokédex journey! Encounter Power, Title Power, and Catching Power sandwiches help you with spawning specific Pokémon. Add Teensey Power to find smaller Pokémon or Humongo Power to find bigger Pokémon.
- If you love hunting Shiny Pokémon and collecting lots of them, making sandwiches makes the process much faster. You would make what's called a Sparkling Power and Encounter Power Sandwich. Whenever you see a mass outbreak, there's likely a Shiny Pokémon there.
- If you want more rewards after Tera Raid battles, sandwiches can help with that! You would make a Raid Power Sandwich to drop more rewards.
- Spawn more items on the ground after a battle! Make an Item Drop Power sandwich first, then battle a wild Trainer. More shiny dots on the ground (items) should appear. This is another way to make money fast if those items sell at a higher price.
- If you're a Pokémon fan of hatching eggs, sandwiches help with that, too! You'd make an Egg Power Sandwich before the breeding process, during which the Male and Female Pokémon hatch an egg. This is to create baby Pokémon to hunt for that egg move you really want because that egg move is unattainable as a TM.
Advice and Helpful Information:
Buy things from the Mesagoza delis and start having wild picnics to experiment with making sandwiches. This will help you adjust to the sandwich mechanics.
This database helps you understand what sandwiches exist in Scarlet and Violet and their effects.
How to get all Ingredients and Recipes in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet:
- Ingredients slowly unlock when you defeat more gyms and undergo all story + DLC story beats.
- Here's a link to find all the ingredients.
- Here's a link to find all the sandwich recipes.
13. All 10 Great sites of Paldea where you can teleport and fly (100% fast travel)
Finding the 10 Great Sites counts toward 100% of the game. It's an important side quest for those who simply love exploring and are enthusiastic completionists. In these areas, you may find rare items or even rare Pokémon.
You Should Do It Because:
- If you're more of an explorer, photographer, environmentalist, and completionist, you'll love this side quest. All the 10 Great Sites of Paldea offer great views, so bring a camera! Take selfies with your Pokémon or online friends there!
- You should enjoy the game's animation at these sites, as they're cleverly planned. It lets you be immersed in Paldea's environment and interact with it. They're great spots to have a picnic with your Pokémon!
- These spots are "hidden fast travel" spots. Unlocking them might make it easy for you to reach certain areas, such as finding certain Pokémon or Tera Raids Types, or quickly get to that 7-Star Raid event!
Advice and Helpful Information:
The journey to this side quest starts at any point in the game. Explore and enjoy having fun being in awe of Paldea's natural beauty.
How to find all 10 Great Site of Paldea:
- Be excited and explore the regions you haven't been to in the game. It's the most natural way to find the 10 Great Sites of Paldea.
- Here's a useful video if you need help finding some of them.
12. Find and Catch All Wild Tera Pokémon
There are many Pokémon in the wild, and you'll notice that some have a glowing aura. That means they are wild Tera Pokémon. Finding all the Wild Tera Pokémon counts toward completing 100% of the game. Game Freak designed it in a way where there are a certain number of Pokémon in the wild who have a rare Tera-Type and can reach better EV base stats.
You Should Do It Because:
- It's worth your time catching them if you're passionate about collecting Pokémon, love exploring the wild, and are invested in EV training. There's 1 slight difference between catching Wild Tera Pokémon and Tera Den Pokémon. With Wild Tera Pokémon, you don't want to completely KO them. You have to catch them after their Tera Shield breaks and their HP is low.
- Finding Wild Tera Pokémon can save you time, unlike manually changing its Tera Type. Tera Den Raids give you Tera Shards to change a common Pokémon's Tera type for better defense or offense advantages. If you're looking for a Flamigo with a Bug Tera Type, it already exists as a Wild Tera Pokémon.
- Wild Tera Pokémon may reach better EV's than ones in Tera Dens. This is just because of the way they're coded into the game. The pro thing is that you shouldn't have to tweak their moves as much as to the ones you find in Tera Raids, allowing you to manually EV train them to your liking.
- The Wild Tera Pokémon do not reset. This means the game already has recommended Pokémon to bring when facing Tera Den Raids. This saves time farming a Tera Raid team. You just have to catch them. Here's a little secret: every time you open and play Scarlet and Violet, Tera Dens reset daily.
Advice and Helpful Information:
Here is a clear Pros and Cons of Wild Tera Pokémon and Tera Den Pokémon:
Pros of Wild Tera Pokémon:
- Already have great moves
- Tera-Type is rare for the specific Pokémon
- They never reset
- Can reach larger EV’s than some Tera Raid Pokémon for a higher base stat
- Slightly better than changing a Pokémon’s Tera Type manually (depends on player)
- Predictable and able to find in the game
Cons of Wild Tera Pokémon:
- Time consuming to EV train them
- Save before catching them and being precise
- If you accidentally KO them, they won’t spawn back!
- Recommended not to change their movesets
- Not as many as you think!
Pros of Tera Den Raid Pokémon:
- Out-numbers the Wild Tera Pokémon system, offering a mass variety
- Don’t have to IV train them because they already have great IV’s
- Already at a great level for instance a Level 75 Talonflame from 5 Star Raid
- Higher level Tera Dens saves time to get them to Level 100
- Can create more flexible movesets and adapt it against 7 Star Tera Raids
Cons of Tera Raid Pokémon:
- Randomly, Tera Dens reset daily offline and online
- Unpredictable and sometimes unable to find Pokémon of a Tera Type you want
- Stats aren’t always great (depends on level star raid)
- Changing so much of its moves could make it weaker than its original format
- 7 Star Tera Raid events are frantic and limited
How to do find All Wild Tera Pokémon:
- You can find all of them through natural self-exploration throughout the story and post-game events.
- Here’s a link sharing where to find All Wild Tera Pokémon.
11. Get The Best In-Game trades
Getting the best in-game trades are great side quests because they're gifts from NPC's, and getting them early in the game is easy. Interact with the NPC to make the in-game trade. They require certain Pokémon that you need to catch first.
You Should Do It Because:
- You'll get exciting and powerful Pokémon such as a Revaroom, Galar Meowth, Snom, Wooper, Gengar, Armarouge (Scarlet), and Ceruledge (Violet).
- These in-game Pokémon can help you progress through the story. For example, Snom can assist you with defeating the Artazon and Alfornada Gym with its Ice and Bug-Type moves. And if you already had completed the story, the in-game trade Pokémon would still help you win online battles or Tera Raids.
Advice and Helpful Information:
List of order to do it and links to where to find Pokémon you need:

10. Catching the 4 Treasures of Ruin Pokémon
Catching the 4 Treasures of Ruin Pokémon is one of the best rewarding side quests because you’ll battle and catch powerful Pokémon who are most dominant in online ranked double battles. These Pokémon are Wo-Chien, Chien-Pao, Chi-Yu, and Ting-Lu.
You Should Do It Because:
- If you like battling with friends online, you should try participating in Pokémon Official Ranked Battle events. Many players still favor the Ruin Pokémon because of their Dark-Hybrid Type.
- These Ruin Pokémon are immune to Psychics! The 4 Ruin Pokémon are useful hybrid Dark-Type Pokémon to combat Ghost and Psychic hybrids such as Lunala, a Psychic and Ghost-Type Pokémon.
- Wo-Chien, Chien-Pao, Chi-Yu, and Ting-Lu were used in many online regulation battles, including Regulation G. Mew and Mewtwo are great examples of Psychic-Type Legendary Pokémon that the Ruin Pokémon are strong against.
Advice and Helpful Information:
Before you catch the 4 Ruin Pokémon, it is highly advised that, at most, you catch 120 Pokémon in the Paldea Pokédex and defeat the 8 main gyms in the game.
This is to unlock the Quick Ball and the Ultra Ball, which makes catching the 4 Ruin Pokémon easier with less effort and better Pokémon.
Another method is to use 4 Star Tera Raid Pokémon against them if you want them during the story. To unlock 4 Star Tera Raid, beat 7 of the main gyms.
It’s a Side Quest within another Side Quest:
This large side quest is part of The Raifort Close Bond Side Quest located in the school.
Unlock the Pokémon by collecting the stakes:
In the game, you’ll see 4 different colored glowing stakes stuck to the ground.
Wo-Chien’s Stakes glow with purple light.
Chien-Pao’s Stakes glow with orange light.
Chi-Yu’s Stakes glow with blue light.
Ting-Lu’s Stakes glow with yellow light.
Ruin Pokémon Strengths:
All of them are immune to Psychic-Types. When battling them, have useful Fairy, Fighting, and Bug-Types such as Gardevoir, Lucario, and Scyther.
Wo-Chien is a Dark and Grass-Type, strong against:
- Ghost
- Psychic
- Ground
- Rock
- Water
Use Scyther’s Bug-Type moves to weaken Wo-Chien. False Swipe, Fury Cutter, and X-Scissor are great moves.
Chien-Pao is a Dark and Ice-Type, strong against:
- Ghost
- Psychic
- Flying
- Ground
- Grass
- Dragon
Lucario can damage Ice-Types a lot. Without KO’ing Chien-Pao you can use Fighting-Moves like Vacuum Wave or Aura Sphere.
Chi-Yu is a Dark and Fire-type, strong against:
- Ghost
- Psychic
- Bug
- Steel
- Grass
- Ice
Even if Gardevoir is at a slight disadvantage its Synchronize Ability will be most useful. If Gardevoir gets a burn from Chi-Yu, Chi-Yu will get burned too. Refrain from using offensive Fairy-Moves. Best moveset for Gardevoir is Rain Dance and Life Dew for defensive measures. Use Aura Sphere to attack and use Hypnosis to make Chi-Yu sleep, in case Synchronize fails.
Ting-Lu is a Dark and Ground-Type, strong against:
- Ghost
- Psychic
- Poison
- Rock
- Steel
- Fire
- Electric
Scyther is immune to Ground-Type moves. Fight Ting-Lu using Scyther’s Trailblaze with Close Combat and Brick Break.
