Thought you knew everything there is to know about Darth Vader? Think again.

Darth Vader, the Empire's most feared enforcer, is a figure of surprising mystery within Star Wars lore. Yes, we all know how he loves to Force Choke people, hunt down Rebels and try to get his son to join the family business, but there is still a lot more to the black cloaked, asthmatic Sith Lord than we think. Here are 10 things you didn't know about Darth Vader.

10) Vader never had painkillers during his surgery.

Emperor Palpatine, while overseeing Lord Vader's surgery, decided against using painkillers for his apprentice. The drugs themselves would have weakened his cells, causing his apprentice's connection to the Force to dilute over time by way of shrinking the midi-chlorians inside Anakin's remaining body cells.

9) Vader's suit can survive extreme conditions.

Darth Vader's suit is pressurized to the point that he can surrvive and sustain exposure to the lava fields of Mustafar and the frigid cold temperatures of Hoth with no need of any external pieces like other humans. The suit is even able to survive the vacuum of space for long periods of time as needed, while other species with the same style of suits weren't made as well.

8) Vader was the face of the Empire.

Darth Vader was the more active of the two Sith. Emperor Palpatine, keeping his apprentice busy while he studied the Force, ran the bigger parts of the Empire. Everyone in the Empire knew the face of the Sith Lord, while very few ever got to see the Emperor step out of the shadows of his Imperial Palace.

7) Darth Vader trained many apprentices as a Sith.

Darth Vader trained 3 apprentices: Mara Jade (Expanded Universe), Galen Marek A.K.A. Starkiller (Force Unleashed), and the Grand Inquisitor (Rebels). Those are the ones we know of, but it is assumed that he trained the many other Inquisitors and Alien Assassins he used to protect him or cary out his deeds.

6) Vader's suit was his greatest asset and weakness.

Vader's suit was equipped with sensors, visors, life regulators, and nutrient tubes all designed to keep the Dark Lord's heavily damaged body still functioning. Thermal and UV Vision were equipped into his helmet, as well as metallic rods ebing stuck through parts of his body to give him a better connection to his metallic suit, as well as keep him alive.

5) Darth Vader's Metallic Exoskeleton Influenced His Daily Life.

With the life support systems that come with Vader's suit, also comes the weight.  His suit weighed close to 12 kilograms, with everything equipped, causing his daily movement and battle to put a strain on his already damaged body. His own lightsaber fighting style is influenced by how heavy his metallic exoskeleton is, due to how hard it is for Vader to lift his armsw above his head, let alone his chest.

4) Vader is the Second Most Powerful Force Wielder During the Emporer's Reign.

Durig the time of his surgery and partial loss of the intensity to which he was connected to the force by way of loss of blood and singed cells, Darth Vader wqas still powerful enough that he could crush Buildings, People, AT-AT's, even his own Master. Darth Sidious/Emperor Palpatine was almost fearful for a few seconds after he broke the news of his dead wife because of how much power radiated off of Darth Vader at the end of his initial shock period, crushingmost of the building and all of the droids who operated on him.

3) His Suit Has a Fatal Flaw.

Vader's suit, designed by Emperor Palpatine, is vulnerable to Force Lightning, the trademark Force Power that the Emperor used. He believed that he needed a failsafe in case Vader decided to take over rule of the Sith, so instead of giving the suit the proper insulation and metals to not be affected by electricity, the Emperor made sure to design his apprentice's suit very carefully.

2)Vader Killed More Jedi Than Most Armies in Star Wars History.

Anakin/Vader, in the aftermath of Order 66 and Mustafar, was tasked with hunting down the remaining Jedi in hiding from the newly formed Empire. Given a few exceptions, Darth Vader killed the most Jedi singlehandedly during the Rise of the Empire, putting his Force-User murder count better than most armies in the history of Star Wars.

1) Darth Vader is the Chosen One.

Darth Vader, contrarey to popular belief of the surviving, Post Order 66 Jedi, is in fact the Chosen One. Referenced thoughout the movies, the Chosed One is supposed to "bring back balance to the Force". He did fufill that prophecy by eliminating the Jedi, who numbered in, or close to, the millions, and then he destroyed the Emporer and died shortly after, leaving Luke, the last Jedi, alive.

All of the items on the list are actual material or debated topics within the Star Wars fanclub, yet based on facts. Keep in mind that all of the list points are nowhere near the full taled of Darth Vader, as there are more stories to be told by Lucasarts over the Dark Lord of the Sith and the Empire's Top Enforcer. Yet as of this current moment, these are 10 Things You Don't Know About Darth Vader.
