The first instalment of the “Remothered” trilogy, “Tormented Fathers”, brought to us by Darril Arts and Stormind Games is set for a release some time in 2017. Utilising a clever blend of realistic graphics thanks to top-of-the-range motion capture technology which lends to the uncannily realistic feel of the characters, and a gripping storyline, the game maintains an even balance between style and substance. Loosely inspired by iconic cult horror film favourites of creator and director Chris Darril such as Silence of The Lambs, Rosemary’s Baby and Mullholland Drive It is notably filmic in style; following the traditional opening, crisis and climax structure.
This mix of surreal and psychological horror story explores the character of brilliant 35 year old Rosemary Reed, bearing something of a resemblance to Jodie Foster, who is called to the house of an elderly ailing Dr. Felton. Seemingly feeble and friendly, though shrouded by an air of creepiness, Dr. Felton appears to be holding dreadful secrets known only to his wife Arianna regarding the perplexing disappearance of their daughter Celeste. Was she murdered? What was her real identity? As you navigate your way around the house, you will face morbid unpredictability, around-the-corner jumps, mystery … and a plethora of moths as you search rigorously for clues and answers.
Let’s face it, any game with “Tormented” in the title isn’t going to be an easy ride. With twists and turns, and blurred lines between good and evil, it’ll be an arduous challenge, but with arresting visuals, beautiful graphics, and a genuinely compelling storyline, it may keep a horror game fan’s interests piqued for a while.
Remothered: Tormented Fathers is set for release at some point in 2017 for Playstation 4 and Steam.
