The best Avenger’s simulator out there so far. The story follows InHuman teen, Kamala Khan, who gains superpowers during A-Day, a celebratory day for the Avengers that ended in tragedy due to a terrorist attack. Blamed for the disaster, the Avengers disband, A.I.M vies to take their place, and Kamala (aka Ms. Marvel) ventures to reunite her heroes.

If you’re not following the surprisingly mature and intriguing story, then you’re partaking in the online events that’s sure to quench your fanboy desires. While there is a lot of controversy surrounding this game’s monetization practices, there’s no denying the great variety of gameplay as you can switch from Iron-Man’s thrusters, to Thor’s Hammer, Cap’s Shield right down to Black Widow’s dual gun shoot-em-downs. If you’re a marvel fan, this is definitely worth a look.

14. Necromunda: Hired Gun (Xbox One, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, PC, PS5)

If you like great, action set pieces and high octane gunfire, oh boy, this game’s got you covered. Necromunda: Hire Gun is a FPS where players play as a mercenary seeking to uncover a conspiracy that involves a powerful gang in Necromunda’s underworld.

Break out your 4K television and surround sound because this game looks phenomenal. With a cool array of weapon variety and tight knit gunplay, you’re eyes are bound to be glued to the screen. The set design is immaculate, rich with detail and lore if you’re an RPG fan. Shoot those heads, grab that loot and keep trucking on because this is one hell of a ride.

13. Apex Legends (Mobile, Xbox One, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, PC, PS5)

Steampunk meets Battle Royale. What’s not to love? Apex Legends is an online multiplayer battle royal game that features squads of three players with distinct abilities called “Legends”. 

The upgrades from the game’s release has only done the game huge favours even 3 years later. Gameplay is fast, fun, smooth and an overall joyride. Enjoy the map modes, cool looting items and the wicked, comic book art style that pops really well. With bugs and servers being smoothed out since launch, 2022 has never been a better time to jump in.  

12. Vigor (Xbox One, PS4, Switch, PC, PS5)

A game that really makes you think about the scarcity of resources and picking your battles wisely. Vigor is an online survival shooter set in post-apocalyptic Norway where you are tasked with upgrading an abandoned shelter in order to survive the harsh environment.

You’re thrusted into a world where other online players scavenge for resources and you’re pretty much having to kill each other to do so. Wow, that’s not stressful at all. And be careful, if another player kills you, you lose everything you’ve collected to that point. It’s a real fight for survival when it ain’t AI against you, but players that match or even surpass your skill. Good luck.

11. Call of Duty: Warzone (PS4, Xbox Series X|S, PC, PS5)

What’s that? This game is free?! That’s right, jump into Call of Duty: Warzone, a massive Battle Royale mode and Plunder where up to 150 players battle for loot, armour, and other rewards to shoot your way to the top.

There’s been a lot of changes since its initial release and yes, it’s still worth a drop in. Though this is another controversial game in terms of weapon bundles, at least you're getting upgrades from Modern Warfare and Cold War into these maps. With such a hefty variety, players are bound to be unique with their tactics. Gameplay is still that classic MW gameplay that players love and the game itself seems to be hacker proof. If you love looter shooters, this is as fun as it gets.

10. No Man’s Sky (Xbox One, PS4, Xbox Series, Switch, PC, PS5)

While not always the favorite talk of the town, No Man’s Sky is still going strong so they must be doing something right. The initial innovation is not lost on players, where story is thin but having to survive an infinite, procedurally generated galaxies still has fans gripped.

Even 6 years later, No Man’s Sky still offers tons of cool rewards, upgrades and exhibitions. Maybe it’s not for everyone, but no online game has been able to provide fans with the sense of wonder and surprise you get from discovering literal new worlds. This is the closest you’ll get to the scary, survival mode Matthew McCounaughey felt in Interstellar, except it’s a bit more fun than what he had to go through. Thank God. 

9. Destiny 2 (Xbox One, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, PC, PS5)

How about that? Another free, long standing game that’s still worth dropping into. Destiny 2 is a looter shooter that combines the traditional shooter experience with RPG and MMO elements. You play as a Guardian, a once-dead human resurrected by the Light of a paracausal being called the Traveler.

If you like online shooters in a dense hybrid world of fantasy and sci-fi, this is the kind of environment that caters to you. There’s a great array of class choices and customization with an abundance of stat options and weaponry. There’s a never ending list of things to do and new expansions still on the horizon, definitely one to check out for any kind of gamer out there.

8. Dying Light 2 Stay Human (PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Switch, PC, PS5)

Not all open-world’s are safe and friendly, and this game takes it to a whole new extreme with enemies both human and monstrous. It’s 15 years after a zombie outbreak took over humanity, and you play as Aiden on a quest to find his lost sister.

This world gets dark -- both literally and figuratively. Not to mention how sprawling the land is that can make it that much more intimidating. You will have to travel from settlement to settlement, gather good resources and really perfect both your aim and your resolve in one of gaming's most inhospitable worlds yet.

7. Deathloop (PS5, PC)

In case you ever had the sick fantasy of living through Groundhog Day like Bill Murray but with a warzone in place of suburbia then Deathloop has you covered. You play as Colt, an assassin stuck in a time loop who has to kill eight different targets in one day lest he be stuck in said loop forever.

Deathloop grants you a hefty arsenal of experimental gadgets and weapons for your day’s delight. The game thrusts you into a playground of activity where you are expected to find your own way of getting the job done that will leave you feeling like one badass assassin when you finally do.

6. Back 4 Blood (PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series, PC, PS5)

When faced with eternal doom, the best you can do is laugh in their face. You play as several colony survivors in a post-apocalyptic outbreak of whom you’re basically at war with.

Back 4 Blood takes everything you like about zombie shooters and hits you up with 7 zany characters that you’re sure to find entertaining. The weapons are tight, combat is slick and it’s hard to put the controller down when hordes of Ridden are coming at you at a breakneck speed.

5. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege (Xbox One, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, PC, PS5)

While more of a tactical shooter, Rainbow Six Siege brings in some cool looting mechanics to its game design and is still worth checking out even 6 years later. This is a high-precision, tactical shooter that prioritizes careful planning and teamwork.

With the massive expansion this game has received over the years, drilling through enemies in Siege has never been better. This is a stand-out experience where you are rewarded for using tactical gadgets and working together. While gunplay is still prominent, this will definitely put your wits to the test. Grab your friends and hop to it. 

4. Outriders (Xbox One, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, PC, PS5)

Another sci-fi, RPG style looter-shooter that may seem generic, but is surprisingly entertaining. Mankind bleeds out in the trenches of Enoch and you’ll have to create your own Outrider and embark on a journey across the hostile planet.

Alongside a great story and deep characters there is a lot of hard hitting yet smooth gameplay that’s sure to keep you addicted. The rewards for exploration are vast as you customize your character with all manner of duds and weapons. If you’re ever in the mood for mindless, shooter fun with lots and lots of loot, Outriders will hook you up.

3. Deep Rock Galactic (Xbox One, PS4, PC, PS5)

Snow White’s seven housemates’ have got nothing on these dwarves. Deep Rock Galactic is a 1-4 player cooperative FPS in which players work together to explore destructible, procedurally generated caves.

This is a great time with friends as you gather loot and plan your expedition through the icky, monster filled caverns a la Ridley Scott’s Alien. When you’re not shooting through the unique cave sets, then you’re winding down at the base with bobbleheads, mini-games and a robot bartender. This game can certainly set a mood and is one for those who value beer and comradery.

2. Warframe (Xbox One, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, PC, PS5)

Well. This is still going strong since 2013. Warframe is a long-term open beta, where players control members of the Tenno, a race of ancient warriors who have awoken from centuries of suspended animation far into Earth’s future to find themselves at war with different factions of the planetary systems.

You’ll never think this game was made 9 years ago given how great it still looks and the artstyle and set design remains stellar. Given that this rich world is free to play, and loot is truly rewarding, you may very well feel compelled to drop some real cash just to support the developers. Movement is fluid and so elegant this is the closest you’ll ever feel to becoming one badass, space ninja. Wrack up those stats and protect your planet with style.

1. Borderlands 3 (PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS5)

Fast paced, fun and with a ton of replay value, Borderlands 3 cares not to reinvent the wheel and honestly, it doesn’t need to. You play as one of four Vault Hunters to stop an insane cult on reaping the powers of lost, alien tech.

Here you can venture off Pandora to awe striking worlds across the galaxy. The controls are as slick and refined as ever and whether co-op or single player, the game never grows stale and is an absolute blast, both literally and figuratively.
