[Top 5] Kenshi Best Farm Base Locations

So you want to start a farm in Kenshi…

Food is scarce in Kenshi and there are two ways of getting food - stealing it from already half-starved bandits or starting your farm in which you can grow your wheat, rice, vegetables, and even cactuses. If you want more nutrition, you can combine those various foods into stuff like Dustwiches, Gohan, Meatcubes plus other things.

Of course, each zone has different fertility and we’re gonna discuss the best zones for farming - let’s begin with:

5. Okran’s Pride

Not so friendly towards non-humans.

Okran’s Pride, as you all probably know, is the land of the Holy Nation, which means that they’re gonna look down upon you if you happen to be a Shek and god forbid, a Skeleton. It’s advisable to hide somewhere, far from the roads, and start your little farm in your little outpost. These lands are perfect for growing wheat and bread is known for keeping you satied. Try not to get enslaved, though!

Why this zone is awesome for farming:

  •  Excellent wheat farming speed
  •  Especially great if you’re a human

4. The Swamp

Welcome to the rice fields, mothafu-

The Swamp is known for not very friendly people and bandits that will occasionally raid your outpost. Don’t worry too much about them though, they’re weak and The Swamp is an excellent place for rice farming that you can combine with vegetables, which will give you Gohan. Hooray!

Fertility is out of the roof in this zone and the farming speed should be super-duper fast!

Why this zone is awesome for farming:

  •  Rice
  •  Allows you to farm vegetables, that you can turn into Gohan if mixed with rice

3. Border Zone

A contested territory.

What can you grow here? Wheat and cactuses. You can make dustwiches from those and enjoy a good ol’ cactus sandwich - disgusting, but nutritious. And cactuses grow like crazy in deserts so you will never run out of dustwiches in the Border Zone. Have fun!

Why this zone is great for farming:

  •  Hell ton of bread and cactuses if you decide to farm here
  •  No river raptors that will eat your crops
  •  Enemies ain’t too tough up in there

2. Sinkuun

The house of the downtrodden.

Sinkuun is the zone of rebel farmers, peasants, and outlaws. These guys escaped The Great Desert city in search of a better life, where they can avoid persecution from the Samurais. They’re gonna befriend you if you bring them one of the nobles and not hassle your outpost, but even if they do, they’re pretty weak and they’ll scatter like rats if they try anything.

You can farm here bread and cactuses, but some areas contain ground that’s suitable for vegetables. Good luck!

Why this zone is great:

  •  100% arid, 10% green
  •  There are also some hive villages with farming supplies
  •  Also some nomads roaming nearby

1. Leviathan Coast

No cannibals here.

This area is excellent for farming - the only enemies that you have to worry about are the stupid Beak Things, they are easy to kill and serve as a great source of meat - the same thing applies to the roaming Bonedogs and Garrus.

So, what can you farm on this soil? Wheat, cactuses, vegetables, and plenty of meat, that you can combine into food cubes that restore 75 nutrition. If you’d rather be a hermit and stay inside of your comfortable outpost all day, you can satisfy yourself with the delicious dustwiches!

Why this zone is great for farming:

  •  100% green fertility
  •  50% arid fertility
  •  A lot of roaming Garrus, Beak Things, and Bonedogs
