Mystique is a great card that has a supporting role in many decks. She’s a strong card that copies the Ongoing effect of a previously played card if it has one. She makes a lot of decks viable and enables you to play a lot of fun decks like Cerebro and Patriot which would be unplayable without her doubling effect.
5.Patriot
The Patriot decks are focused around playing down a lot of cards without effects to then buff them up with Patriot, Kazar, Blue Marvel and so forth. It’s a very fun deck to play and it probably won’t ever be too weak to play, but it’s a little worse than other decks since it can’t keep up with their pace and it’s easy to guess what you’re going to be playing on what turn. The goal to winning with this deck is to balance what cards you expect to be playing in what game. If you know that you’re going to be finishing the game with Onslaught or Doctor Doom, then you shouldn’t be playing Kazar, if you don’t have enough cards on the field - consider playing something other than Onslaught on turn 6 to fill up the board more and spread out the buffs from Patriot. In any case, you’re going to want to play Patriot into Mystique for that +4 to all of your cards that don’t have effects.
What Is Great About This Deck:
- It’s rather easy to pilot, since a lot of your cards don’t have effects, you just be mindful of your gameplan at all times and plan ahead
- Playing both Patriot and Mystique is a +4 to all cards without effects - and you have a lot of those. As long as you fill up the board as much as possible, Patriot and Mystique will bring you a lot of value
- Kazar and Ultron are a great combo - Ultron will fill up all of your remaining spaces with 1-cost, 1-power Drones that will be buffed by Kazar AND Patriot and Mystique, you just have to be mindful of a turn 6 Killmonger if you have reveal priority
- Debri is a good card that will spawn a Rock on other locations, these Rocks will clog up your opponent’s locations, but on your side they will probably be a lot more powerful since you have a lot of cards that can buff them
Card List:
- Wasp
- Misty Knight
- Shocker
- Mystique
- Patriot
- Storm
- Debrii
- Blue Marvel
- Doctor Doom
- Onslaught
- Ultron
4.Cerebro 3
This deck is obviously focused around Cerebro. You use him and Mystique to buff all of your cards which have exactly 3 power to make them way more powerful and impactful at the end of the game. A big problem with Cerebro decks are the locations in the game since they can change the power of cards on the board and make your deck just not work. Cerebro 3 has some good ways to deal with that in the form of Rhino and Valkyrie. Rhino can ruin unfavorable locations, while Valkyrie can set the power of your cards to 3 in case of a location like Wakandan Embassy which will buff the cards in your hand. Valkyrie is a really good card that not a lot of people will play around, so if you manage to get her, she will do wonders for you in this deck, being able to easily shift the power of a location to your side on turn 5.
What Is Great About This Deck:
- Bast can power up your weaker cards like Wasp and Adam Warlock, both of which will give you a lot of value if you play them after hitting them with Bast’s effect
- Your main goal is to fill up the board and finish the game off with Cerebro and Mystique to really buff up all of your cards to at least 7 - more if locations are favorable
- You’ve got some really good tech cards to play to stay ahead of in game - Cosmo is great at negating your opponent’s On Reveal plays and Rhino can help you stay ahead of bad locations by ruining them
- Valkyrie is a great counter to a location that your opponent committed a lot to, she can just easily set the power of all cards there to 3, after which you should win the location since all cards that you have with 3 power will eventually be buffed by Cerebro and Mystique
Card List:
- Wasp
- Bast
- Blade
- Adam Warlock
- Armor
- Sentinel
- Cerebro
- Mystique
- Cosmo
- Rhino
- Magik
- Valkyrie
3.Hazmat
This is a really fun archetype of decks that focuses on lowering your opponent’s power instead of boosting your own. The goal here is to set up a location with Wong and ideally Mystique for turn 6 and then you can go ahead and play your game winning cards like Hazmat and Absorbing Man to lower the power of all of your opponent’s cards significantly. This deck doesn’t only have one win condition in the form of Hazmat, it can also be very powerful if you use Doctor Doom to swarm all of the other locations, especially if you don’t play many cards in the beginning and your opponent gets ahead of himself. Odin is a great card that can increase the effectiveness of all of your cards and Magik can help you make the game longer if you need more time to set up your combos.
What Is Great About This Deck:
- You have a lot of cards that can be win conditions in this deck like Doctor Doom, Gambit, Hazmat and even Debrii, most of them rely on you setting up a location with Wong and Mystique so you should expect an enemy to play Cosmo on that location if they have it, after which your deck becomes significantly weaker
- Hazmat is great at lowering the power of all cards on the field, but Luke Cage will make that effect work only on your opponent. These two cards combined are a great way to win games, but your opponent will expect what deck you’re playing as soon as you place down Luke Cage
- Ironheart is an alternate win condition that buffs all of your cards instead of lowering the power of your enemy cards, if you draw Iron Heart, you should aim to get as many cards on the board as possible and play her on a location with Wong and Mystique
- Magik will help you by making the game a little longer in case you need more time to set up your winning play, since the cards that you need to place down are Wong and Mystique and they can’t be played before the 4th turn, Magik makes this deck a lot more consistent
Card List:
- Luke Cage
- Hazmat
- Green Goblin
- Ironheart
- Mystique
- Gambit
- Debrii
- Wong
- Absorbing Man
- Magik
- Doctor Doom
- Odin
2.Mister Negative
Mister Negative decks like running a lot of weak cards that turn into insane value if you play them after their cost and power are swapped with Mister Negative’s effect. Mystique fits right into that category and she’s able to copy either Wong or Iron Man’s effect. The goal is to get out Mister Sinister as early as possible and Psylocke and Zabu help you get him out a turn earlier. After that you’ll be pulling only strong cards, since no cards in this deck have a higher power than their cost. Bast is really useful here since she negates your weak early game by giving all of the cards in your hand 3 power. This is great because no card in the deck will have their power reduced so you only gain value from Bast’s effect. After drawing a few strong and swapped cards, your goal is to play them all on the 6th turn and overpower your opponent, they can’t accurately gauge how much power you have so they might retreat because of the insane power swing that Mister Negative decks have.
What Is Great About This Deck:
- Playing Iron Man into Mystique gives you a lot of value. It doubles the power on 2 locations, which can be a problem for a lot of decks to overcome.
- Wong is great in combination with Wolfsbane or Ironheart. Wolfsbane generates a lot of power on that location, while Ironheart will boost your overall board state. Playing Mystique after Wong will make all of the effects even stronger, but you should only do this if you don’t have Iron Man in hand
- This deck produces a very big power swing for your side on the 6th turn which a few decks can compete with, it’s also a great thing that your opponent won’t know how much power you have in your hand so they might preemptively retreat even if you don’t have your best cards
- Psylocke and Zabu are very valuable since they lower the cost of Mister Negative by so that you can get him out on turn 3 if you have him in your hand, this lets you draw an additional cheap card that had its power and cost swapped
Card List:
- Bast
- Psylocke
- Zabu
- Ironheart
- Mystique
- Rogue
- Wolfsbane
- Brood
- Silver Surfer
- Mister Negative
- Wong
- Iron Man
1.Cerebro 2
This deck is also based around the Cerebro and Mystique combo which will buff all of your cards. The goal is to develop your board state early and finish the game with Cerebro and Mystique which will buff all of your cards, a lot of cards can be swapped out and this is a deck that you should consider making if you’re in early pool 3, since if opponents don’t play around it, this deck is good at sneakily taking a win. Brood and Mister Sinister are great cards in this deck since they give you more bodies on the board for Cerebro to buff. A great combo that can secure you a location that’s a little more problematic that lowers the power of cards played there is Daredevil on turn 2, and then you know if your opponent will fill up a location or not on the 5th turn. You can then freely play Hobgoblin without worrying about him staying on the board. Your biggest enemy when playing C2 is the locations. Avoid locations that buff or lower the power of your cards since they screw up your whole synergy, and don’t be afraid to retreat early since some matchups are really hard to beat.
What Is Great About This Deck:
- It’s a fun deck that’s easy to play and learn. It takes time to master, and it can be frustrating if you keep getting bad locations, but it’s a really fun deck and it’s great for early pool 3 games where some of your opponents don’t know how to counter it
- Playing Daredevil early gives you knowledge of your opponent’s plays on turn 5 which is good in and of itself, but it’s great because this deck also runs Hobgoblin which you can then safely play for a -8 power swing for your opponent
- Brood and Mister Sinister are great at putting a lot of 2 power bodies on the board which you can then go ahead and buff at the end of the game for a lot of value
- Blue Marvel is a good turn 5 play, but you shouldn’t necessarily play him every time that you can since some of the other cards might be more value in the long run
- Your main combo and the way you finish games is playing Cerebro and Mystique on turn 6, this will buff all of your cards by 4, but be careful since more experienced players will expect it and possibly counter it with Enchantress
Card List:
- Iceman
- Nightcrawler
- Daredevil
- Goose
- Mister Sinister
- Cerebro
- Mystique
- Mister Fantastic
- Storm
- Hobgoblin
- Blue Marvel
