[Top 15] Cyberpunk Games

The cyberpunk genre is extremely unique, and beautifully represented in video games. Cyberpunk-style media is usually set in futuristic dystopias, mainly focusing on advanced, fictional technologies. This genre of fiction contains characters who are usually outlaws or criminals, and occasionally lawmen and the like. This time, we’re listing all the best Cyberpunk video games for you to play.

15. FF7R (PlayStation)

A remake of a classic, FF7R is one of the best games to come out as of late, and the best RPG of 2020. You play as the iconic Cloud Strife in the dystopia that is Midgar, completing quests and upgrading weapons along the way. It retains the heart and personality of the original and improves upon it in every way possible, it’s a must-play even if you haven’t played the original.

14. Watch Dogs 2 (PlayStation/XBox/PC)

The second Watch Dogs’s game is, in my opinion, Ubisoft’s best game in the latter part of the last decade. With a beautiful open-world of the game’s rendition of San Francisco, various hacking mechanics, and unique combat, Watch Dogs 2 stands out from other third-person open-world games.

13. Detroit: Become Human (PlayStation/PC)

This indie game is a storytelling masterpiece with gameplay centered around choices made by the three android protagonists trying to survive in a world growing fearful of androids. These choices influence the story, your relationships with other characters, and the outcome of every chapter. It’s got smooth visuals, a suspenseful story, and numerous possible endings that provide high replayability.

12. Mirror’s Edge Catalyst (PlayStation/XBox/PC)

A futuristic action game wherein you traverse a world as a courier, Mirror’s Edge has one of the best parkour mechanics in all of gaming. If you like fast-paced games with visually appealing, dynamic environments, you’ll like this.

11. Deus Ex (PlayStation 2/PC)

The first Deus Ex game is set in 2058 where a lot of real-world conspiracy theories are real. It boasts a first-person shooter gameplay with a bit of stealth, and a futuristic environment, and the prevalence of cybernetic implants, among other futuristic stuff, earn Deus Ex a spot on this list.

10. Blade Runner (PC)

Not exactly a direct adaptation of the most well-known cyberpunk movie ever, but more like a side story in the same world, the 1997 video -game is a point-and-click adventure with an aesthetic that reflects that of the movies and overall does justice to the cyberpunk genre.

9. Watch Dogs (PlayStation/XBox/PC)

The first game felt fresher and arguably had a bigger impact than its sequel, and is one of the swan song games of the seventh generation. Watch Dogs boasts an impressive open-world setpiece with its massive map of Chicago and vigilante Aiden Pearce introduces us to the hacking feature that is the heart of the franchise.

8. Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon (PlayStation/XBox/PC)

A standalone expansion from Far Cry 3, it uses the same engine as the original game but presents it in an entirely different way. It’s set in a dystopic 2007 with an 80-s style, Terminator/Blade Runner-esque visuals with guns, vehicles, monsters, etc. Blood Dragon is an enjoyable experience that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

7. Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne (PlayStation 4/PlayStation 2/Nintendo Switch/PC)

Nocturne is a turn-based JRPG set in post-apocalyptic Tokyo. It’s an amazing video game with good character design, an engaging story, and a unique art style. Give it a shot and take on demons in the vortex world, whether it be the original or the 2020 remaster.

6. Katana ZERO (PC/XBox/Nintendo Switch)

You play as Subject Zero, an assassin with a katana. It’s a 2D game where you can kill enemies or deflect bullets with your katana and a superpower that lets you slow down time. Oh, and you die in one hit.

5. Cyberpunk 2077 (PlayStation/XBox/PC)

CD Projekt Red’s most ambitious title yet, and the most anticipated game of 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 boasts dynamic, colourful visuals, varied character customizability, and a story that’ll keep you on your toes. The fact that Keanu Reeves is in it is just a bonus. Its last-gen release was riddled with bugs and other issues, but it doesn’t take away from the fact that it’s still a terrific game, and this list just wouldn’t be complete without it.

4. Ghostrunner (PlayStation/XBox/PC/Nintendo Switch)

A fast-paced action game wherein you wield a sword, kill enemies with it, and parkour your way through Dharma Tower. The visuals and setting are as futuristic as it gets, the combat is spectacular, and any cyberpunk game list should have Ghostrunner on it.

3. Cloudpunk (PlayStation/XBox/PC/Nintendo Switch)

Cloudpunk is a narrative game wherein you play a delivery driver, in a flying car, for the company Cloudpunk. With spectacular visuals clearly based on Blade Runner, coupled with a good story and an enjoyable soundtrack, Cloudpunk is among the best cyberpunk games out there.

2. System Shock 2 (Sega Dreamcast/PC)

A highly influential game especially in the survival horror genre, System Shock 2 takes place in a starship in the year 2114. You can procure a number of weapons and utilize them against different, terrifying enemies. It’s a combination of cyberpunk, action, and survival horror.

1. VA11 HALL-A (PlayStation/PC/Nintendo Switch/PS Vita)

This game is a bartender simulator with a cyberpunk aesthetic. You serve customers drinks and listen to their stories, and these stories are how you are introduced to the game’s setting. It’s unique, original, and refreshing, so if you’re looking for something new, then this is the game for you. (It also has one hell of a soundtrack!)
