[Top 10] Hell Let Loose Best Maps

Which map should I be slaughtered on today?

There are many iconic maps in Hell Let Loose, some of them are forested areas, while others offer open fields, which can create some epic battles between tanks and infantries. Trenches, city fighting, night maps - you name it, you’re gonna find your favorite map for sure!

That’s why we’re gonna talk about some maps that I’ve stumbled upon and enjoyed - I’ll give my 5 cents on why you should try them, plus why they’re awesome. Let’s start:

10. Foy

Ahoy!

Foy is a winter map covered with mostly flat areas, although there’s a city that is severely damaged, you’ll be forced to fight in the rubble of fallen buildings, on open fields, or in the forests.

The most important thing on this map is the tanks - due to the terrain being flat most of the time, they can quickly grab territories, surround objectives, and generally provide a massive advantage for the team.

Why this map rocks:

  • Diverse terrain - flat fields, forests, city fighting
  • Snowy terrain makes German soldiers easier to spot
  • A pretty fun map for tank mainers

9. Kursk

Temnaya noch…

Kursk is a map that’s very flat and full of trenches, staying out in the open will get you gunned down either by a machine gunner or a sniper. It’s highly advisable to stick to the trenches and let the tanks do the job on the fields.

Garrisons are also important, as it allows your teammates to spawn on them. Although the most important thing about this map is the tanks - if the tank crews are underskilled, winning this map can be extremely difficult.

Why I love this map:

  • Trench fighting is always awesome
  • Have you ever seen a Katyusha get closer and closer to you?
  • Playing as a machine gunner can get you some ez kills

8. Sainte-Mère-Église

Intense fights take place here!

The center of this map has a massive city in which vicious clashes can take place between the German&American forces. Moving the frontline only gets harder and harder and both teams have to rely on the effectiveness of their players who play classes with automatic weaponry.

Still, the sides of this map are covered with open fields and only minor settlements, so there is some diversity after all. Try it out!

Why this map is cool:

  • There can be some intense fights in the town
  • Many buildings are in good condition(not just rubble everywhere)
  • There’s also a bunch of buildings that you can enter and set traps or use as a firing position

7. Hürtgen Forest

Hurt forest.

The map is filled with forests, which makes it unbelievably hard to transport infantry by trucks or drive tanks. Getting stuck between trees makes you an easy target for Anti-tank classes, plus there are not too many bridges that you can cross, which also makes them great targets for mines.

In summary, this map will give you Vietnam-tier paranoia - you’ll keep mistaking trees for enemies and hear footsteps every once in a while. I’ll let you figure out whether they’re friendly or not!

Why this map is cool:

  • Trees everywhere, easier to take cover
  • In forest areas, this is solely an infantry map
  • Easy to get killed, easy to get kills as well

6. Hill 400

Back and forth…

The map is mostly covered with forests and pretty gritty weather. Seeing enemies is unbelievably hard, plus pushing up that hill is a serious challenge for the attackers. Forget driving the tanks, you’re not moving them anywhere, the forests and the steep hills won’t let you.

Skilled infantry is the key, they’re gonna be doing most of the job in terms of bunker cleaning, pushing, and making sure the hellish Hill 400 is finally captured.

Why this map is awesome:

  • Plenty of trees around, easy to take cover(also easy to get pinned down)
  • The map is only fun if you’re defending the hill
  • If you’re defending, you don’t have to worry about enemy tanks driving up hills or around the trees(it’s pretty much suicidal)

5. Carentan

Welcome to the joys of urban fighting!

This is one of the most urban maps that you’re gonna play - it’s filled with alleyways, and enterable buildings with multiple floors, and narrow corridors. Getting killed is very easy, as you never know from which window or door the enemy is gonna shoot at you.

When it comes to tanks, a city is the worst thing that can happen to you - ATs can easily eliminate you as it’s hard for you to maneuver around, as well as spot enemies.

Why this map is enjoyable:

  • One of the biggest urban maps
  • There are still some fields that you can fight on
  • If you’re a camper, this map is definitely for you

4. Kharkov

Not the modern one…

Kharkov is a very diverse map, as it took some ideas from Stalingrad - the industrial area, rubble, and things like that, as well as open fields, which create great opportunities for tanks to shine. The overall atmosphere of the map is pretty grim, everything is covered in snow, the sky is gray and buildings are not always in habitable conditions.

The battles are gonna take place between the Soviets and Germans, they’re gonna be vicious and locations are gonna change hands multiple times. Good luck!

Why this map is great:

  • One of the unique maps in terms of terrain diversity(urban areas, fields, industrial, etc)
  • Similarities to the Stalingrad map
  • Snow maps are always fun to play!

3. Utah Beach

Very fun times.

Americans weren’t having a very great time initially but with time, when Germans slowly started to run out of ammunition, they managed to pour into their trenches and eventually kill them. When it comes to Hell Let Loose, this time you can hold the beach as the Germans, it depends on the coordination and skill of your team though.

I think this map is pretty self-explanatory: the beach is pretty flat and getting to the German positions is unbelievably difficult and you will most likely get shot and killed a few times before that happens. You can expect the Private Ryan scenery!

Besides the beach, there are also flat terrains with minor settlements here and there. A perfect map for tanks and other vehicles!

Why this map is great:

  • The beginning of this map is pretty spectacular
  • Mostly flat and open fields, great for tank gameplay
  • You can expect plenty of success from playing classes like Machine Gunner and Sniper

2. Stalingrad

Every 6 seconds in Stalingrad a Fritz dies, TIK-TAK, TIK-TAK!

Stalingrad is by far the most downtrodden city of all the other previously mentioned cities - you can expect industrial areas with railroads, factory buildings, and plenty of rubble that you can hide in.

The general vibe of this map is pretty depressing - industrial areas tend to be depressing but here most of the buildings are destroyed, plus your tanks won’t always be able to help out the infantry.

Why you should try this map:

  • Industrial areas combined with flat areas
  • Tanks can be used in urban settings and long-distance combat
  • Easy to defend areas: Pavlov’s House, House of the Workers, Grudinin’s Mill

1. Omaha Beach

*PTSD intensifies*

We all know what happened on the 6th of June, 1944. Trauma, blood, guts, limbs scattered on the beach, and plenty of screams. The same thing will happen in Hell Let Loose - initially, you have to watch out for snipers and machine gunners, as running on an open beach is a death sentence.

Even if you capture the beach you still have to deal with miles of open fields with heavily fortified areas, it’s not going to be an easy task and you can expect even more death, such are the joys of playing the Omaha Beach!

Why this map is the best:

  • Both teams have to sweat pretty hard to win this map
  • The beach is always exciting, as it’s one of the most iconic battles
  • Americans don’t have too much stuff to hide behind on the beach - a good thing for the Germans
