Kenshi is filled with lovely cities that you can visit. Some cities have weapon shops, the other ones don’t, that one has a boot shop and the second one has Holy Nation fanatics that will beat you to a pulp and enslave you.
That’s exactly what we’re gonna talk about - the best cities in Kenshi. We’re gonna discuss their locations, shops and how they look in general. Let’s start!
5. Squin
Squin, not squid!
Squin is one of the Shek strongholds located in the south-west of the Border Zone. It’s located inside of a canyon, which provides excellent natural protection. This will be probably the first city that you’re gonna visit, mostly because The Hub contains only a bar and a Shinobi Thieves’ tower.
Squin is awesome if you’re looking for heavy weapons, armor, travel gear, general items or you just want to turn in bounties. The Sheks are rude, but they’ll love you once you turn in the Bugmaster!
What makes this city great:
- Essential city for players who just started playing as the “wanderer”
- Multiple useful shops
- Cool visuals and feels cozy

4. Heft
One day Tengu is gonna eat dirt.
Heft is the city where Emperor Tengu resides. If you’re poor, perhaps missing an arm, you can expect to be harassed and even arrested by one of the guards watching over the entrance. But if you appear to be at least “middle class”, you’re gonna be most welcome in the city - just look out for one of the nobles, he’s gonna tell you to bow to him(and you better obey him).
Heft has multiple buildings for sale, their prices can go up to 58,000 Cats and contains multiple shops - armor shops, farm shops, mechanical shops, ranger shops, bakeries, clothing shops, etc. You can turn in bounties and even slaves and even join the Shinobi Thieves!
What makes this city great:
- You can speak to Tengu and listen to his dementia-ridden speech.
- Decent armor for sale
- Outpost s-IV and a Watchtower for sale

3. World’s End
Odd name for such a pleasant city!
World’s End is located in one of the Holy Nation’s territories. The most bizarre thing is the fact that it is populated by different races - it’s known that Holy Nation hates everyone who is not human. The city is being kept alive only because of the Phoenix statue located next to the gate, which makes the Holy Nation pricks think that they’re as fanatical as them. Nice one!
You can find weapon and armor shops, mechanical shops a nice bar. You can also visit the Science HQ and talk to the grumpy Hive Prince over there!
What makes this city great:
- Can find yourself the blueprint for the Fogmask
- High-quality weapons
- Purchasable 2 houses

2. Mongrel
Worth the journey.
Mongrel is heaven, unfortunately, it’s surrounded by a mysterious fog and the worst of all… the Fogmen. These guys will WREEEEE and begin attacking you, if you fail to fight them off, you’re not gonna have a good time - you’ll be dragged to a ceremony and eaten alive.
Is the journey worth it, then? Yes, it is. You can find yourself exotic weapons such as Desert Sabres and Falling Suns and a long list of potentially even specialist-grade armor. This city is unique, as it’s located in the middle of the Foglands and will leave you with a sense of relief once you get there!
What makes this city great:
- You can recruit BEEP!
- Slight chance of finding exotic weapons
- Feels good once you’re there!

1. Black Desert City
It’s always raining in Deadlands.
BDC is a city that’s not very hospitable to anyone who’s not resistant to acid. It’s also not a good idea to start conflicts with the factions in there as it will lead to your quick downfall and getting knocked out/burned alive by acid. But what makes this the best city is simply the Scraphouse - you can find there Edge Tier 1/2 weapons, ancient science books, sometimes even engineering research, and all the good stuff that you need to research stuff. You can also find your self robotic arms, in case you lost some!
What makes this city great:
- Masterwork/specialist robotic limbs
- SCRAPHOUSE! (aka Edge Tier 1 and 2 weaponry)
- Lovely climate.
