Malphite, the rock-solid champion, predominantly played as a tank in the top lane has 6 available skins and 5 legacy skins. Here we have formed a list of all these skins ranking them from worst to best based on 4 attributes; general appearance, ability animations, SFX and recall animations. We will be discussing the available skins and the legacy skins separately.

6. Ironside Malphite

Ironside Malphite Skin Spotlight

Ironside Malphite adds a new model for Malphite, new particles, a new animation for his ultimate and a new recall animation as well. Overall, it is all you can ask for from a regular skin. It is ranked at the bottom because there is just much more detail in his other skins.

5. Glacial Malphite

Glacial Malphite Skin Spotlight

Glacial Malphite gives him an icy overhaul. All his abilities now have ice particles to them. Q throws a frozen shard, the rest of the abilities have light blue and white particles. The sound effects also give an icy feel. The only thing which lacks is a good recall animation otherwise, the concept of this skin is great.

4. Mecha Malphite

Mecha Malphite Skin Spotlight

Mecha Malphite features Malphite as an advanced mechanized robot. The skin adds new auto-attack SFX, new ability animations, a new model, a robotic voice and a recall animation in which Malphite drills back to the base.

The base variant of the skin is purplish with the passive shield and reddish without it. Chromas are also available to change the colour as per your liking.

The skin is good but the auto-attacks give a “plastic” vibe. This skin should’ve been giving metallic sound effects but it feels like Malphite is just a big toy made out of plastic.

3. Odyssey Malphite

Odyssey Malphite Skin Spotlight

Odyssey Malphite gives Malphite an outer-space theme along with Jinx who is getting them both into trouble but Malphite doesn’t seem to mind. Along with new ability animations, new model and new SFX, the recall animation involved Jinx fooling him with a fake bomb. Odyssey Malphite follows the features of the Odyssey theme. Various Chromas are also available for this skin.

2. Dark Star Malphite

Dark Star Malphite Skin Spotlight

Dark Star Malphite features him as a dark consciousness formed from the debris of the Dark Star itself, once an enormous exoplanet. The skin gives a very nice dark cosmic theme to Malphite with all his abilities having new sound effects as well. Malphite’s voice also now sounds celestial.

New particles have been added to all his abilities and they look way cooler than his other skins.

This skin also has a “Prestige Edition” that can be obtained through 100 prestige tokens. The Prestige Edition adds a golden lustre to the skin which feels amazing.

Prestige Dark Star Malphite Skin Spotlight

1. Old God Malphite

Old God Malphite Skin Spotlight

Old God Malphite could’ve alternatively been called “Undead” Malphite because this skin gives all the undead vibes that are there. With a bony exoskeleton-like model of the skin to all the ability animations being changed to clouds of darkness and bones erupting in a circle at the point of impact of his ultimate, this skin screams “Undead”.

The skin is true to the theme and is a very good overhaul for Malphite and also gives him the coolest recall animation.

This skin is just classic Malphite but in green colour. It’s a green chroma for Malphite. His Q does have new particles though.

I wouldn’t call this a skin. It is another chroma for Malphite which turns him white. His Q animation also has white particles.

Coral Reef Malphite Skin Spotlight

The rock turns into a coral reef. This is a very old skin, so we don’t expect that much from it. The abilities have slightly different particles. W changes his colour to red. E makes a splash of water along with the punch on the ground. R has slightly different particles.

Obsidian Malphite Skin Spotlight

Obsidian Malphite can be called somewhat better than a chroma but still not up to the level of today’s skins. The Q animation has grey particles. W makes Malphite’s obsidian body full of cracks that have lava in them. This was a good skin of its own time but not anymore.

1. FPX Malphite

FPX Malphite Skin Spotlight

The FPX skins were released when “FunPlus Phoenix” won the 2019 world championship. This is a very special skin with a lot of flashy features. The overall model looks great, Malphite in bright yellow and reddish colours. All ability animations are new and have new bright yellow particles. The recall animation looks great with Malphite dancing and jumping around. The skin also has a special respawn animation which we don’t see in many skins. The skin comes with new sound effects and a new voice.
