[Top 10] Starfield Best Melee Weapons (Ranked)

Settling a dispute with a knife is always reasonable.

Melee weapons, there are not that many weapons in this category but they’re either used as the last resort or you just wanna get some easy sneaky kills. There’s also a possibility that you’re insane and you like to get shot 1000 times.

Well, I don’t think we should prolong this silly intro any further, let’s get right into the melee weapons, how much damage they deal, their basic stats, what are the most fun facts about them, and why you should use them. Let’s roll!

10. Ripshank

You can barely cut butter with this.

Or very low-level enemies in Starfield. This is one of the cheapest weapons that you can buy from a vendor and it’s usually used by players who are very new to the game or have nothing else to defend themselves with. I don’t suggest using this as your main weapon, it’s hard to say if the weapon is gonna get you killed or you yourself…

What this tiny pocket knife does well:

  • It doesn’t cost anything, you can get it for 300-400 credits at a vendor.
  • Light as hell, only around 0.40 kg
  • Faster attack speed due to its size and weight

Weapon stats:

  • 12 damage per hit
  • 0.40 kg
  • Value: 300-400 credits

9. Combat Knife

Hmm..

Well, it’s a slightly improved Ripshank. The only major difference is in the damage output, which is improved JUST slightly. Again, I don’t advise using this weapon as a primary one, just as the last resort shank that you bought a week ago and it was rotting in the back of your bag.

What’s great about the combat knife:

  • Lighter than the Ripshank
  • Deals more damage than the Ripshank
  • Same, if not slightly faster attack speed

Stats:

  • 16 points of damage per hit
  • 0.36 kg
  • Value: 500-600 credits

8. Rescue Axe

For “rescuing”. Sure…

This axe deals 1 point more than the combat knife. Is it even worth mentioning? Not really, but there are not that many melee weapons to talk about in Starfield, so why the hell not? The so-called “Rescue” Axe is a very common weapon and you can get it in the early parts of the game.

What this weapon does well:

  • Slow but gets the job done
  • You can find it pretty much everywhere, on every vendor and low-level corpses
  • Can pull off sick combos

Stats:

  • 17 points of damage per hit
  • 1.40 kg
  • Value: 600-700 credits

7. UC Naval Cutlass

Yar-har.

You’d think that a cutlass would be the deadliest melee weapon on this list but no, surprisingly, it deals 20 damage and the attack speed is mediocre. Still, it’s not a weapon to underestimate, it can take chunks of health from enemies and still look completely badass while having a brawl!

What’s cool about this weapon:

  • If you ever wanted to LARP as a space pirate, now’s your chance
  • One of the cooler-looking melee weapons that you can buy or find
  • Deals more damage than the previously mentioned knives

Stats:

  • Deals 20 points of damage per hit
  • Value: 900-100 credits
  • 1.40 kg

6. Barrow Knife

“Now that’s a knoif” - Crocodile Dundee

This is the last knife that I will be talking about, I suppose that talking about them can tire some of my beloved viewers. But this is the best knife when it comes to damage, it’s also the most visually appealing, designed specifically to hunt space alligators. It is also somehow the lightest one, despite looking like it weighs at least a few kilos.

What’s great about the Barrow Knife:

  • Outshines other previously mentioned knives in terms of damage
  • 0.02 kilos lighter than the combat knife
  • The most visually appealing knife in the game

Stats:

  • 0.34 kg
  • 28 points of damage per hit
  • Costs 1200-1300 credits

5. Osmium Dagger

Not a knife, a dagger.

This one is for those who wish to LARP as edgy assassins. The blade by itself doesn’t have any bonuses but it’s agile and deals plenty of damage per hit, which can cause nearby enemies to be stunned. Of course, the Osmium Dagger, like other melee weapons, is even more effective if you get the right perks, so keep that in mind.

What’s great about this dagger:

  • Light and versatile
  • Can be used for sneaky playthroughs if that’s your cup of tea
  • Deals reasonable damage with a decent attack speed

Stats:

  • 28 points of damage per hit
  • 2.70 kg
  • Value: 2200-3000 credits

4. Tanto

A Japanese-style blade.

And a deadly blade at that. It deals a whole lot of damage, despite looking relatively harmless. Weapons like this perform extremely well at surprise attacks, due to their high damage output synergizing with attack multipliers. But it’s versatile - the blade itself is agile and can be used to overwhelm enemies if they dare to get too close.

Why this blade performs super well:

  • It’s cheap for its performance
  • Great for both sneaky and direct approaches
  • The coolest-looking blade in the game IMO!

Stats:

  • 40 points of damage per hit
  • 0.45 kg
  • Value: 3000-3100 credits

3. Va’Ruun Painblade

Good god…

This is the second-most damage-dealing melee weapon that you’ll acquire in Starfield. Just by the looks you can tell that this weapon will kill anything on sight and you’re right - with that much damage per hit this is one of the deadliest weapons for direct combat, as well as sneaky approaches.

Why I like this weapon:

  • Extremely overpowered for its price
  • Devastating attacks from attack multipliers
  • Fun to use once you get it

Stats:

  • 71 points of damage per hit
  • 1.80 kg
  • Value: 11,260-11,300 credits

2. Syndicate Enforcer

Swish-swosh!

The Syndicate Enforcer is an extremely dangerous blade to deal with, it comes with 2 effects:

  • Berserker - You deal more damage at the cost of having less armor.
  • Lacerate - This effect grants you a small chance of applying a bleed effect every once in a while.

It also has incredible damage output, as well as attack speed, which is excellent at overwhelming your enemies. The Lacerate effect can be used to “hit and run” opponents, which is basically attacking an enemy and running away to safety.

What’s great about this weapon:

  • The weapon is versatile and can be used for pretty much every combat scenario unless you need to use ranged weapons
  • This is a katana blade, which makes it very agile
  • Filled with useful effects that already improve your gameplay

Stats:

  • Deals 49 points of physical damage
  • 1.35 kg
  • Value: 12,894 credits

1. The Last Priest

The last boss.

The Last Priest is hands-down one of the most powerful melee weapons you’ll come across. It deals the biggest amount of damage and it’s devastating against anything it touches, human or alien. I don’t have to say how this weapon performs with attack multipliers…

If that’s not enough, there’s also a possibility of this weapon dealing corrosive, radiation, poison, as well as incendiary damage, thanks to its Elemental effect.

What’s awesome about this blade:

  • Highest DPS from all the other melee weapons
  • Awesome bonus effect that boosts your DMG even further
  • One of the greatest weapons to own in the game

Stats:

  • Deals 85 damage per hit
  • 1.80 kg
  • Value: 20,268 credits
