[Top 10] Starfield Best Outpost Locations

So many options…

There are planets with decent resources that you should set your outpost on but of course, that’s not the only reason for setting up an outpost - you can also build your own house if you’re not digging the Sleep Crate…

In this article, I will talk about the best locations for an outpost - why you should go there, what it contains, and why it’s worth setting up an outpost. Let’s roll!

10. Danra

Cold moon.

Danra has one of the most important resources that you can mine - Aluminum. What is it used for? It’s primarily used for building structures and as your research progresses, you’ll need even more aluminum for crafting.

While this planet climate-wise is harsh, it doesn’t have any annoying wildlife to deal with and the resources can be gathered with extractors and with miners.

Why this spot is awesome:

  • Plenty of aluminum
  • There are also lots of Helium-3 deposits, which are used for weapon mods
  • Bearable climate, gravity is also not too low

Details of the spot:

  • System: Narion
  • Type: Barren
  • Gravity: 1.44 G
  • Temperature: Frozen
  • Atmosphere: None
  • Magnetosphere: Average
  • Fauna: None
  • Flora: None
  • Water: None

9. Leviathan IV

Lovely place!

The most important thing about this planet is the fact that it has a human-friendly atmosphere, filled with STD oxygen and friendly fauna that rarely attacks - you should be wary of Pack Windbags and Finback Filterers, they’re not aggressive but defensive.

The planet also has a few resources that are used in weapons mods, structures, as well as decorations. Lovely place for an outpost!

Why this spot is nice:

  • Not filled with rabid wildlife attacking you every time you try to sleep
  • No hazardous climate, you can breathe without a helmet
  • A long list of basic resources

Details of the spot:

  • System: Leviathan
  • Type: Rock
  • Gravity: 0.68 G
  • Temperature: Temperate
  • Atmosphere: STD O₂
  • Magnetosphere: Powerful
  • Fauna: Marginal (5)
  • Flora: Marginal (4)
  • Water: Biological

8. Maheo II

Mr Maheo!

While this planet is not completely friendly to anything that lives, as soon as you have your spacesuit and helmet on, you should be good. Once you scan the planet, you’ll be able to see various resources pop up on the planet, which are rare.

Some of the very good ones are ytterbium, tetrafluorides, and helium-3. They are used for weapon mods and explosive cartridges which deal high amounts of damage.

Why this spot is nice:

  • Filled with Ytterbium, one of the rarer resources in the game
  • No wildlife to deal with, neither aggressive nor docile
  • Also filled with copper and iron, which are used for other buildings

Details of the spot:

  • System: Maheo
  • Type: Rock
  • Gravity: 0.52 G
  • Temperature: Frozen
  • Atmosphere: Thin N2
  • Magnetosphere: Average
  • Fauna: None
  • Flora: None
  • Water: Safe

7. Eridani II

Sounds like a name that would fit a night elf..

In Eridani II, you can harvest resources from wildlife, such as fiber, nutrient, metabolic agent, membrane, pigment, sealant, and structural. They can be used for plenty of recipes, ranging from food to medicine, as well as weapon modifications or other structures.

There are also ground resources, such as nickel, copper, iron, gold, cobalt, fluorine, and chlorine - some of these resources can be combined and sold for profit.

Cool things about setting up a spot on this planet:

  • A long list of resources from wildlife
  • The wildlife won’t attack you unless provoked(most are peaceful anyways)
  • Plenty of ground resources that can be used for a variety of things, including exp/credit farm

Details of this spot:

  • System: Eridani
  • Type: Rock
  • Gravity: 0.86 G
  • Temperature: Temperate
  • Atmosphere: Std O2
  • Magnetosphere: Average
  • Fauna: Moderate
  • Flora: Moderate
  • Water: Safe

6. Venus

This hellhole?

While Venus is hell in terms of temperatures, there are a few admirable features of this planet - every local hour equals 100 hours in UT time, which makes vendors reset their credits extremely fast, plus sleeping for the same amount of time generates huge amounts of dysprosium, assuming that you have the extractors set up.

Dysprosium is a rare resource that can be sold for 8 credits each(also more, if you have the commerce perk skilled up), which is a decent money farm for beginners.

Cool things about setting up a spot on this planet:

  • 1 local hour = 100 hours of UT time
  • Dysprosium deposits that sell for plenty
  • Other resources, such as nickel, cobalt, lead

Details of this spot:

  • System: Sol
  • Type: Rock
  • Gravity: 0.90 G
  • Temperature: Inferno
  • Atmosphere: Extra Co2 (COR)
  • Magnetosphere: None
  • Fauna: None
  • Flora: None
  • Water: None

5. Jaffa III

Jabba.

Jaffa III is a planet that is suitable for life, it contains marginal wildlife that’s not too aggressive and it also has decent resources that are used for research, structures, and other modifications.

The climate on this planet is cold but it won’t affect you with any illnesses, furthermore, it has an atmospheric vibe with beautiful landscapes and vegetation covered in snow. Gorgeous if you want to set up a house here!

Cool things about setting up a spot on this planet:

  • Contains Plutonium, which is used for outpost structures
  • Iridium can be used for research labs and weapon mods, such as hair trigger/precision tuning
  • Vanadium is used for scopes and laser sights

Details of this spot:

  • System: Jaffa
  • Atmosphere: High O2
  • Type:    Rock
  • Magnetosphere    Average
  • Gravity: 1.8G
  • Fauna: Marginal (5)
  • Temperature Type: Cold
  • Flora: Marginal (4)
  • Water: Biological

4. Zamka

Another frozen hellhole <3

The planet itself doesn’t offer too much hospitality but you can still create an outpost here. Getting to this planet is also not too difficult, as it’s just 1 gravity drive hop from Sol.

You can get resources such as helium-3, copper, nickel, iron, uranium, cobalt, vanadium, which is a huge list for a planet that can be easily landed on.

Cool things about setting up a spot on this planet:

  • 8 resources available pretty early into the game
  • Cobalt and nickel can be mass-crafted for isocentered magnets, which can generate profit in EXP and credits
  • Uranium is made for rounds, which inflict more damage

Details of this spot:

  • System: Alpha Centauri
  • Orbiting: Olivas
  • Type: Rock
  • Gravity: 0.42 G
  • Temperature: Frozen
  • Atmosphere: Thin M
  • Magnetosphere: None
  • Fauna: None
  • Flora: None
  • Water: Chemical

3. Linnaeus IV-b

Another lonely planet.

But the greatest thing about this planet is its resources, which can be used for a variety of recipes, such as weapon mods, outpost improvements, and other things.

Cool things about setting up a spot on this planet:

  • Temperate weather
  • Huge amounts of resources
  • Multiple biomes to explore for resources

Details of this spot:

  • System: Linnaeus
  • Orbiting: Linnaeus IV
  • Type: Rock
  • Gravity: 0.50 G
  • Temperature: Temperate
  • Atmosphere: Thin M
  • Magnetosphere: None
  • Fauna: None
  • Flora: None
  • Water: Biological
  • Traits: None

2. Bessel III-b

A gold mine.

It’s isocentered magnets and adaptive frames mine. These two items can be made from cobalt&nickel and iron&aluminum. Furthermore, there’s one in a million spot where you can get all 4 of these resources, which enables you to farm them, without having to change locations.

Another incredible thing is that 1 local hour equals around 50 hours of UT time, which allows you to mass-produce these two items.

Cool things about setting up a spot on this planet:

  • Decent EXP farm for beginners
  • Can be useful for getting credits
  • 4 resources in 1 outpost

Details of this spot:

  • System: Bessel
  • Orbiting: Bessel III

1. Tirna VIII-c

Land of opportunity.

Quite literally. Tirna offers not only an exotic planet with abundant fauna and flora but yet another golden spot with 8 resources that can fit inside your outpost. They’re not basic either, they’re used for high-end weapon modifications and outpost structures!

It is, hands-down, one of the greatest planets to set up an outpost on, due to its wildlife and vegetation also containing valuable resources that you can use for medicine.

Cool things about setting up a spot on this planet:

  • 1 golden spot that allows you to farm 8 resources
  • Wildlife that generates plenty of resources upon killing them
  • Habitable planet, with temperate weather

Details of this spot:
