There’s a new game that came out and if you're a Fallout or Skyrim fan you're gonna love it. Starfield is a popular hit that wasn't expected. There's so much to do from exploring planets, to flying your ship and even having your own crew of over 4 people. You can even grav jump to other systems. It's a space lover's fantasy.
Today we're giving you the top 10 best traits for your character to have and explain what each trait does and why you should get it.
10. Dream Home
This is your home away from home!
The dream house is a huge fancy home that your character gets at the start of the game. After you leave New Atlantis you’ll have to pay a mortgage of $125,000 weekly. Where its usefulness really comes into play is the storage. After you go to your respective planets you can use the dream house to store all of your goodies.
Why The Dream Home Is Great :
- It's on a peaceful planet. This is great because there’s no extreme wildlife or spacers to ruin your day. Just you and your crew if you so choose to bring them.
- Storage. While almost every house or ship has some type of storage compatibility the dream house gives you a bit more. The best thing is, you won't have to worry about making deals or having to protect your stuff.
Dream House Details:
- You own a luxurious, customizable house on a peaceful planet! Unfortunately it comes with a 125,000 credit mortgage with GalBank that has to be paid weekly.
9. Terra Firma
Or in other words Dry land! If you’re going to spend most of your time on land then this trait is for you.
The terra Firma trait makes you more acclimated on land increasing your health and oxygen. The drawn back is that your less acclimated to space. In my opinion thats a fair trade off. This is because depending on the play style you choose most of your engagments will be on land and you’ll rarely get your ship raided.
This is really useful at the start of the game as your character will be traveling to many planets where the bulk half of the missions take place on land.
Why Terra Firma Is a Great :
. You get more health and oxygen on land. This cannot be overlooked. The extra health is great when your starting out and dont have the most powerful weapons yet. The added oxygen lets you run for longer before you start getting CO2 buildup.
Terra Firma details:
. You've never acclimated to space. Health and oxygen are increased when on the surface, but decreased when you're in space. (Can't be combined with Spaced.)
8. Extrovert
The social butterfly! This trait deals more with having to interact with other rather than going lonewolf in the blackest sea.
The extrovert trait lets you consume less oxygen when traveling with others. This is useful because early on (Level 6 or up) you’ll have more than 5 companions. (If you didnt rush the main story which is difficult to do) Chances are you’ll have one if them following you as some missions need certain compainons.
Why The Extrovert Trait is Great :
- You get reduced oxygen. This is really helpful when it comes to travel to different planets. The reason for that is every planet has different oxygen levels so its helpful to get that boost.
- It lets you explore with your companions and learn more about them. The reason for this is because the trait only works when your companions are following you.
Extrovert Details:
- You're a people person. Exerting yourself uses less oxygen when adventuring with human companions, but more when adventuring alone. (Can't be combined with Introvert.)
7. Taskmaster
This trait does not give you a shield and cool mask like the one from marvel!
For this trait if you have crew members trained in ceratin ship systems, That system will on occasion repair itself automatically whenever your ships hull is below 50%. Its useful for dogfight in space when your taking on more than you can handle.
Why Taskmaster Is Great:
- Automatic ship Repairs. This comes in handy big time when in space combat. Note that you need ship parts in your cargo hold or inventory to start the repair.
- The repair starts at 50%. If you were to do this manually with all the power systems to keep track of you’ll start repairing your ship at around 30% or 25%. This is just from experience so your play style could be different.
Taskmaster details:
- Occasionally, if you have crew trained in a certain ship system, that system will automatically repair itself to full health whenever it is damaged below 50%. However, all crew cost twice as much to hire.
6. Empath
If you’re in touch with your feeling and emotions this trait is for you.
The empath trait grants a temporary increase in combat effectiveness. Meaning they’ll shoot better and make better desision in combat. In my opinion this trait is very useful for bounty missions and getting a on up on those spacers.
Why The Empath Trait is Great:
- It increasing your companions chance to hit there target. This will make sure they help you in deire moments when your health is low.
Empath Details:
- You are deeply connected to the feelings of others. Performing actions your companion likes will result in a temporary increase in combat effectiveness. But, performing actions they don't like will have the precise opposite effect.
5. Alien DNA
Whoever picked this trait is brave and taking the first step into cross genetics.
The Alien DNA trait gives you more oxygen and health. The only downside is that healing items are less effective. This isnt that bad of a trade off as long as you double your med packs. In my opinion this trait is very useful for early game. You’ll be fighting enemies that are 5 or 6 levels higher so that extra boost early on will come in handy.
Why The Alien DNA Trait is Great:
- It gives you more health and oxygen. This was already mentioned but in starfield health and oxygen are very important. Unless you travel to planets and go to a doctor or buy med packs, healing is rare. (early on at least)
Alien DNA Details:
You volunteered for a controversial experiment that combines alien and human DNA. As a result, you start with increased health and oxygen, but healing and food items aren't as effective.
4. Hero Worshiped
If you ever wanted to be worshipped and be treated as a hero grab this trait.
The hero worshipped trait gives you the companion known as the adoring fan. This character reprizes his role since the elder scrolls oblivion game and even has the same voice actor Craig Sechler. In my opinion the adoring fan is very useful. If you can get past all the annoying conversations you can put him at an outpost or have him fight a spaceport with you.
Why The Hero Worshiped Trait is Great:
- He’s a free companion early on. When you get to new atlantis (the starting planet after the tutorial) you’ll find a bar called viewpoint. There you can hire crew members but at a high price, over 10,000 credits for some.
- He lifts you up and makes you feeling worth it. Everytime your in his vicinity he’ll jabber your head off with compliments and borderline weird stuff. Though whenever i get back from a mission he always has something nice to say.
Hero Worshiped Details:
You've earned the attention of an annoying "Adoring Fan" who will show up randomly and jabber at you incessantly. On the plus side, he'll join your ship's crew and give you gifts...
3. Kid Stuff
When you still feel like a kid.
The kid stuff trait allows you to visit your Starfield parents at their home in the Pioneer Tower in New Atlantis. This trait is useful for roleplay as your parents will vist your work place from time to time and also send letters went they dont here from you. The downside with the trait is 2% of your credits will go to them weekly.
Why Kid Stuff is Great:
- You get unique items. If you go to your bedroom you’ll find a your old highschool backpack. This increases carrying capacity by 10kg. Further more your dad will give you a unique blue rarity revolver after a few conversions.
- They add livelyness to your game. Like mentioned already from time to time your parents will vist your work place and embass you infront of your constellation friends.
Kid Stuff Details:
- Your parents are alive and well, and you can visit them at their home. But you will automatically send 2% of your credits home to them every week.
2. Any Faction Trait
Even after humans made it off earth there still seems to be factions?
Each faction as there own traits but they all do the same thing. You gain access to special dialogue options withn that faction and on top of that you get better faction rewards during relevant missions. In my opinion this is useful if you really like a certain faction and end up spending alot of time with them. Like the freestar rangers for example.
Why Any Faction Trait is Great:
- You'll get special dialogue. When your with a ceratin faction sometimes you’ll be able to get different reactions or having an easier time getting information or a mission from said faction.
- It can get you out of trouble. Now this wont let you walk into a factions town/city and steal or hurt people. Youll be able to pay your fine at a lower price or get a waring not to do it again.
- You get better reward items. Not only do you get better reward items but you get a bit more credits as well. (I tested this with a character from the UC and then one with FC) Youll get blue or purple varinets of weapons and suits.
Any Faction Details:
- You gain access to Any factions dialogue options, and better rewards from some missions given by the faction. But, crime bounty towards other factions is greatly increased. (Can't be combined with any other faction allegiance trait.)
1. Wanted
You have a huge bounty on your head. Maybe it has something to do with your past?
The wanted trait is by far the most fun trait in starfield currently. It keeps you on your toes and always waiting for the next encounter. Plus it gives you something to do while your exploring space. This is useful to take early game because youll gain lots of EXP and be able to take there spacesuits and weapons at level 3.
Why The Wanted Trait is Great:
It adds to your characters story. You get bounty hunters that will follow you all over the galaxy each time will be something different.
You get more action. Bounty hunters will try to disable your ship in space and board it. Good thing is, you can do the same thing to them. You can even take there ship and sell it or keep it.
You get tons of EXP. Because youll start the game being wanted it wont be long until you run into these hunters. You can get EXP by killing them, or by persuadeing your way out of combat.
Wanted Details:
- Someone put a price on your head, and word has spread. Occasionally, armed mercenaries will show up and try to kill you, but being cornered gives you an edge—when your health is low, you do extra damage.
