You’re gonna encounter many crap weapons in Starfield, especially in the beginning. There are countless weapon types, ranging from weird, space-revolvers to weaponry that fires particle beams. The best part about this game is that you can find anything you like for yourself - you can even LARP as Arthur Morgan - in space!
Without further ado, we should begin with our first weapon - we’re gonna talk about its biggest pros, why you should use it and add some bullet points. Let’s roll:
10. The Last Priest
There are still priests in the 24th century?
Yes, there are. This one is a melee weapon for all those lunatics who are still living in the Skyrim era. I could never really get into the melee thing in Starfield but some players will fancy this blade - mostly because of its damage, as well as the fact that it deals elemental damage. There are 4 types:
- Corrosive
- Radiation
- Poison
- Incendiary
It’s also worth adding that this weapon doesn’t have any modifications, just special effects.
What The Last Priest excels in:
- Deals 62 base damage per hit
- You can swing it rather rapidly, despite the damage output
- 4 different types of damage(corrosive, incendiary, radiation, poison, as I’ve previously mentioned)
- Pretty OP, although you need your character to have the right starting attributes, plus proper perks as you progress(to avoid dying 24/7)
You can get The Last Priest from the Hunter after completing the “Infinity’s End”.
9. Sir Livingstone's Pistol
A gift from mommy and daddy.
Weapon stats:
- Ranged
- Ballistic Pistol
- Clip Size: 15
- Fire rate: 67
- Range: 24
- Accuracy: 70%
- Ammo: .45 Caliber ACP
- Mass: 1.80
Yes, this is the 1911 pistol that you’ve seen in games like Call of Duty or Battlefield. Many people still don’t understand how a weapon that’s over 400 years old can still be this effective in the year 2330. In any case, this pistol has an extended magazine and “High Velocity” modification, which improves the weapon’s range, as well as accuracy.
Although it doesn’t deal as much damage per hit as the Deadeye, the magazine capacity makes up for it. The reload speed is also a lot faster, which enables you to perform better in intense, close-quarter situations.
What the Sir Livingstone's Pistol does well:
- Very good magazine capacity for a pistol
- Outstanding accuracy for a small pistol(69.2%)
- Decent range, meant for short to medium distances
- 28 damage per round is still good for a semi-automatic pistol
You can get this pistol after choosing the “Kid Stuff” trait at the start of your game.
8. Old Earth Shotgun
Where’s yo head at?
Weapon stats:
- Ranged
- Ballistic Shotgun
- Damage: 73(depends on weapon-grade)
- Ammo: 12G Shotgun Shell
- Clip Size: 6
- Fire Rate: 6
- Range: 20
- Accuracy: 56%
- Mass: 3.60
While this is not a legendary weapon, it deserves special mention solely because of how effective it can be at close distances. It’s also one of the easiest weapons to acquire, you don’t need to do any special quests or travel very far, just simply go to the local weapon store and hope that you can purchase this feller.
Keep in mind that this is a shotgun - it’s not accurate, plus the range sucks balls as well. It’s only effective at completely disintegrating enemies from a meter away.
What this weapon does great:
- Being cheap and reliable. At least in close encounters!
- It’s not a difficult weapon to find, and can be found in many shops
- Can deal +73 damage per hit, it also depends on the weapon’s grade, as well as modifications
7. Deadeye
If Arthur Morgan was still alive…
Weapon stats:
- Ranged
- Ballistic Pistol
- Clip size: 6 rounds
- 7.5mm Whitehot
- Range: 31
- Accuracy: 70%
- Mass: 2.40
- Damage: Physical
When it comes to the Deadeye, this thing can pack a punch, especially if you’re a good shot. Headshots can be devastating to your enemies and make you feel like John Marston. One thing that you may not like is the previously mentioned magazine clip - it’s only 6 rounds, that’s why you need to make sure that every shot connects.
The weapon is surprisingly accurate, as well as deadly. The best strategy is to just wait for your targets to stop moving, quickly aim for their head, and watch them drop to the ground. It’s satisfying every time!
What the Deadeye does great:
- The damage output can be compared to that of The Last Priest
- Accurate at short to medium distances
- Can be extremely overpowered if you’re an experienced shooter
- One of the most powerful sidearms in the game
You’re awarded with this weapon after becoming a deputy with the Freestar Rangers faction.
6. Keelhauler
The best and the last pistol.
Weapon stats:
- Ranged
- Ballistic Pistol
- Damage: 64
- Ammo: .43 MI Array
- Clip Size: 6
- Fire Rate: 140
- Range: 24
- Accuracy: 70%
- Mass: 3.50
Talking about pistols 3 times in a row can get boring but I promise that this is the last one. Keelhauler is a massively modified MagShot with special effects and cool red paint. Despite having a pathetic clip capacity, it has an automatic fire, which enables you to fire 6 rounds in less than 2 seconds. Keep in mind that this “pistol” deals 64 damage per hit…
But what modifications does this pistol have? Well, here are some examples:
- Long Barrel
- Recon Laser
- Sight Compensator
- Fully Automatic
It also has special effects:
- Staggering
- Berserker
- Frenzy
What this weapon excels in:
- Capable of dealing 384 physical damage in one go if you’re accurate, the damage can be further improved by perks
- The automatic fire mode allows you to unload your rounds very quickly
- Plenty of useful modifications that improve your rate of fire, accuracy, and stability
- The gun looks visually pleasing, one of the most unique-looking weapons out there!
You can get the Keelhauler after doing a series of quests:
Grunt Work>Deep Cover>Rook Meets King>Echoes of the Past
5. Gallow's Reach
AK-47 with some cool space parts!
A game taking place in 2330 wouldn’t be complete without a copy of an AK-47. The weapon holds exactly 30 bullets per magazine and has a relatively decent rate of fire, it even uses 7.62mm rounds… Yeah, it’s an AK. It’s effective from short to long distances, plus it’s loaded with plenty of cool modifications, such as:
- Laser sight
- Reflex sight
- Muzzle Brake
- Ergonomic Grip
- Armor-Piercing Rounds
Still, the damage output is not the greatest - the basic damage is only 26 damage per round, although it has a unique effect:
Poison: Causes your enemy to be slowed, as well as take poison damage over time
What the Gallow's Reach excels in:
- Good at slowing your enemies and keeping them at a distance from you
- Plenty of useful modifications that improve your accuracy, range and damage output
- Visually pleasing - come on, it’s an AK!
4. Experiment A-7
This is a shotty.
Weapon stats:
- Ranged
- Ballistic Shotgun
- Physical damage
- 119 base damage
- 15×25 CLL Shotgun Shell
- Clip size: 6
- Rate of fire: 10
- Range: 20
- Accuracy: 51%
- Mass: 6.90
A shotgun is meant for close encounters, great while exploring “abandoned” laboratories, as well as hijacking enemy ships. You will succeed in tight places with narrow corridors but you’re going to be terrible on open fields. My favorite part about this shotty is the way it looks - completely badass, at first glance it looks more like a rifle but once you shoot it, you’ll only see massive blood splatters…
What the Experiment A-7 excels in:
- Great for clearing out tight places
- Deals 119 base damage, further improved by your perks
- Still has decent range for a shotgun, can be used for targets from a medium distance
3. Unmitigated Violence
Sweet, sweet violence.
Weapon stats:
- Laser Rifle
- Energy Damage
- Ammo: 3KV LZR
- Magazine capacity: 50
- Rounds: 428
- Rate of fire: 33
- Range: 50
- Accuracy: 77%
- Mass: 10,65
This laser rifle deals a fair bit of damage and it’s pretty universal - great against all types of enemies. It’s also worth adding that this weapon has 7 modifications in total, further improving it.
There is also an effect called “Instigating”, which lets you deal two times the normal damage to a target with a full HP bar. The second one is called “Radioactive”, which deals radioactive damage and causes your target to be demoralized. Finally, the last effect is called “Frenzy” - if you’ve played Skyrim, you know what this is - it makes your enemy run away.
What this weapon excels in:
- 3 different special effects that damage, scare away or demoralize your opponent
- 7 modifications(Long Barrel, Recon Laser Sight, Reflex Sight, Stealth Lasers, Stabilizing Stock, Large Battery, Amplifier)
- Great accuracy and range, plus it’s not even a sniper
2. Eternity's Gate
Sounds heavenly but is in fact extremely deadly.
Weapon stats:
- 2 types of damage: Physical, Energy
- 17; 50; base damage
- Particle Beam Rifle
- Ammo: Heavy Particle Fuse
- Clip Size: 20
- Fire Rate: 25
- Range: 60
- Accuracy: 82%
- Mass: 5.10
It’s a very rare weapon with a unique mechanic - every fourth shot will let out extra 2 shots at the same time. The Anti-Personnel effect causes this rifle to deal 10% extra damage to humans. Furthermore, this weapon’s accuracy is probably its biggest attribute, followed by an excellent range - these two things make this rifle incredibly useful at short, medium, and long distances.
If you’re wondering what modifications this weapon is using, here they are:
- Long Barrel
- Recon Laser Sight
- Short Scope
- Focus Nozzle
- Tactical Magazine
- Overclocked
Why this weapon is dope:
- Above-average rate of fire
- Decent damage output that’s further improved by the Skip Shot&Anti-Personnel effects, as well as perks
- Outstanding accuracy&range, effective at short to medium distances
1. Revenant
BRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
Weapon stats:
- Fire rate: 330
- 14 damage per hit
- Range: 44
- Accuracy: 70%
- Ammo: .50 MI
- Magazine: 150 rounds
- 0.15
- Can carry up to 5 modifications
Revenant is a legendary rifle best known for its intense rate of fire, which is more than capable of killing everything on sight. The range is excellent, meant for short, medium, and sometimes even longer distances, depending on your modifications.
The damage itself might not seem like a lot but you have to take into consideration this weapon’s magazine capacity, combined with its ridiculous rate of fire. One incredibly expensive thing is this weapon’s ammunition - it eats through your ammunition, which in turn, eats through your credits.
What the Revenant is excellent at:
- Great accuracy, despite the rate of fire, can be further improved by the right perks
- The rate of fire causes complete annihilation of enemies in front of you, also great for boss fights
- The laser sight further makes it easier to hit targets from the hip
