Engines are responsible for the overall speed of your ship, they allow you to catch up to your enemies or get away from them if necessary. Furthermore, you also improve your ship’s maneuverability by upgrading your engines.

When it comes to classes, there are 3 types - class A, B, and C and in this article, we’re gonna talk about the B-class engines. Well, without further ado, I believe that we should start!

5. Hercules DT160 Engine

Deserves a spot.

Hercules is a class-B engine unlocked when you reach level 48. With the engine thrust of 24,300 units, you should install it on ships that value maneuverability, so you can out-maneuver your opponents and kill them 1 by 1.

While not cheap, installing this engine onto a relatively light ship can make it a deadly killing machine with high survivability.

4. Dunn-61 Engine

Dunn, dunn, dunn!

Dunn-61 Engine has the same engine thrust as the previous engine but it has an improved maneuvering thrust, which is 4950 units. These engines of this type are also more durable, as they have 127 points of health. 

While it has no major differences, there’s a far bigger likelihood of finding this engine on various vendors scattered in the systems. Keep in mind that you need Starship Design rank III to use this engine.

What’s good about this engine:

• Maneuvering thrust of 4950 units
• 127 points of health per engine
• Can put multiple of those on 1 ship

3. SAE-5660 Engine

We are slowly getting there…

The SAE-5600 Engine is lighter than the previous engines and has a better maneuvering thrust of 5,500 units, while the engine thrust remains the same as in the Dunn-61 Engine. It’s also worth mentioning that the price for this engine is cheaper by 1000 credits - it’s always something!

This engine is pretty decent for dogfighting in space as it will allow you to out-maneuver most enemies that you engage with. Try it out!

The second best!

With an improved engine thrust of 26,580 units and a maneuvering thrust of 5,250 units, this is one of the best engines that you can stumble upon in this class. The Dunn-71 Engine is also tanky and they can take plenty of damage before getting disabled. 

This engine allows you to out-maneuver multiple enemies at once and escape if things go south. If you have auto-turrets installed onto your ship, they can also deal serious damage if you decide to retreat.

• Decent for lightweight ships

Beauty.

The Poseidon exceeds everything mentioned in this article - it has an incredible engine thrust of 34,520 units and a maneuvering thrust of 11,600 units. A mighty engine, with incredible maneuvering potential during combat.

One thing that you must keep in mind is that this engine’s weight is 334 mass, so if you add too many modules to your ship, you’ll end up with a heavy ship, which will reduce your maneuverability and speed.
