10. Meta Knight

Meta Knight, from the Kirby franchise

Not many people play Meta Knight. Despite the fact that he has incredible combos, he is not utilized to his full potential. The fact that he is a character that is notoriously tough to master and that other combo characters offer greater rewards with less effort might be used to argue against this.

Why is Meta Knight an effective combo character? It's difficult to say. All that matters in Smash Brothers Ultimate is frame data and hit stun, which refers to how long an opponent is immobile after being hit. Even though he doesn't provide much hit stun, I would describe it as the fact that his moves come out quite quickly.

9. Ice Climbers

Ice Climbers, from the Ice Climbers franchise

Another example of a character that pros don't use frequently is Ice Climbers, which is unfortunate because, when used correctly, they are among the coolest characters in Smash Ultimate. One of the few characters in the game where two characters play side by side while combined into one is the Ice Climber. According to many players, Ice Climbers are the most challenging characters in the game since mastering their multiple combos necessitates precise inputs.

Why are Ice Climbers good characters for combos? There are two of these, for whatever reason. Having two characters is not a major deal when performed appropriately; in fact, when played incorrectly, they are seen as fairly awful. However, when you utilize a precise process known as "desyncing," they are changed into a top-tier character. Desyncing: What is it? Desyncing is the process of preventing two Climbers from doing the same motion simultaneously as they would in a natural situation. Desyncing allows you to perform two separate moves with them...all at once. For example, if you input a forward air, they both perform a forward air, etc.

8. Sheik

Sheik, from the Legend of Zelda franchise

Sheik is a character with a lot of quick combos. Although she doesn't deal much damage, she can nonetheless cost you your stock because of the numerous combinations and 50/50 situations she can trap you in. Sheik has had some success, and VoiD is the primary professional who plays her.

What makes Sheik an excellent character for a combo? She can put you in challenging circumstances and trap you in combination loops. Sheik combinations are incredibly challenging to escape because, in addition to the fact that most of them are unavoidable, she moves so quickly that it is challenging to choose the appropriate move in time.

7. Ken/Ryu

Ken/Ryu, from the Street Fighter franchise

The first original fighting game characters to be included in Smash Bros. Ultimate are Ryu and Ken, who are both from the Street Fighter series. People didn't think fighting game characters belonged in the game, thus there was a lot of opposition when they were included to Smash Ultimate, but with time, people came to enjoy these characters more and more. The level of difficulty for these two is pretty high. To play them correctly, you need a ton of technical expertise.

What makes the duo of Ryu and Ken so compelling? They are so closely a carbon copy of what they were in their original games. Smash Ultimate does a fantastic job of capturing the original fighting games' ability to execute numerous lethal combos and kills.

5. R.O.B.

R.O.B., from in real life, or Mario Kart

For the duration of Smash Ultimate, R.O.B. has been a top-tier hero and has been utilized by a wide variety of professionals (including Mkleo). R.O.B. has drawn a lot of criticism over the years since he is regarded as a high-tier character but also as being quite simple.

R.O.B. is a good combo character for what reason? His gyro is a little projectile that he can keep and use to extend his combos until death. R.O.B., who employs the z-dropping technique, is dreadful to play against.

4. Terry

Terry, from the Fatal Fury franchise

Nobody truly played Terry at a really professional level when he initially came out. He was the first DLC fighting game character to be included in Smash Ultimate, therefore it was sad. However, one player soon started winning, and quickly. The fact that just one player—Riddles—was able to play Terry successfully demonstrates how challenging a role he is.

Why is Terry an excellent combination character? The fact that his moves may be cancelled, just as in fighting games, and that he can kill early and cancel a down air into an up-b are incredible advantages that, when fully utilized, are tremendously strong.

3. Pikachu

Pikachu, from the Pokémon franchise

Esam has consistently been the dominant player in Pikachu. Esam has demonstrated why Pikachu is one of the best because he is one of the hardest characters in Smash Bros. Pikachu is extremely challenging to play against because of his intricate nature. A Pikachu has a plethora of options at their disposal.

Why is Pikachu a suitable character for a combo? He can use one up air into another up air into ten more up airs, and his moves link together in seemingly inconceivable ways.

2. Kazuya

Kazuya, from the Tekken franchise

It's Kazuya Mishima. The name you constantly hear since Kazuyas are always superior to you and you can never defeat one. Simply put, you're horrible. Choose a top tier. All of these are things I've heard repeatedly because Kazuya is so excellent. Without a doubt, Kazuya is challenging to understand, but once you do, the same combos keep appearing. I play Kazuya frequently myself. Because of this, I will claim that Kazuya is a reasonably challenging game to play.

Why does Kazuya make a good combo character? several things Why is it that, despite having subpar frame data, his combos still kill you at 0? Kazuyas use this one because of the hit stun of this one move, Electric Wind God Fist. If you are playing against a skilled opponent, this hit stun enables them to get crazy follow-ups, including a death.

1. Steve

Steve, from the Minecraft franchise

The best and most controversial character on this list is now available: Steve. Similar to Meta Knight in Smash Brawl and Bayonetta in Smash 4, Steve has been and will continue to be discussed as a potential bannable character. The fact that Steve is so simple is what gives him such incredible power! Once you master the basics of Smash Bros., it is advised that you pick up Steve because he offers such a large payout for such a small amount of effort.

How does Steve make a good combo character? Almost everything about him is absurd, including his frame data, hit stun, and kill rate. The fact that he can change when he kills opponents through crafting is the one thing I can pinpoint as the cause, though. The mechanic of creating is now incredibly intriguing. In Smash Bros, you typically get right into the action without having to worry about losing resources or anything of the sort. With Steve, you must mine at all times since the more he mines, the stronger he becomes. The stunning, priceless diamond is the one item that all Steves have in mind. The diamond is able to mine faster and kill enemies more quickly. For each of these reasons, Steve is the best combo character in Super Smash Brother Ultimate for the Nintendo Switch.
