[Top 15] EAFC 24 Best Young RB (15 Amazing Right Backs for Career Mode)

EAFC 24 Best Young RB
Arnau Martinez eyes up the competition for the top spot of best young RB in EA Sports FC 24

Do you have a strong squad but missing the final piece of the puzzle in your right back? Or do you need a second option incase of injury or tiredness? Or simply want to develop players to sell on and get more funds for the world class squad you’ve always dreamed of?

Well this list of the 15 best young right backs will give you options for all three of these questions, helping you out however you play the game!

But what’s so important about the right back position?

Well, the right back position has become such a massive part of the modern game, with more focus on speedy build up and counter attacks. Not only a core part of the defensive line ups, but right backs are now doubling up on the wing providing vital support to the attacking players with running the flanks and delivering into the box. A perfect example of this is Trent Alexander-Arnold for Liverpool, racking up countless assists and pulling off a few goals too.

So, let’s get to our list of brilliant RBs!

15. Brandon Soppy - France - Schalke (2. Bundesliga) - RB, RM - 21 years old - Overall 71 - Potential 82 - Transfer Cost £3.6m

Brandon Soppy Real World Highlights

Coming up through the Rennais youth and reserve team, Soppy was only with the main squad for one season before moving to Italy to play his trade in Series A. Moving to Udinese before being bought by Atalanta and then loaned out to Torino, it’s fair to say that Soppy was noticed by a number of Italian squads before catching the eye of the Bundesliga in the form of Schalke. Although still officially an Atalanta player, Soppy’s loan to Schalke has been pretty uneventful with him only making 3 appearances so far.

Although at number 15 on the list, Soppy is actually the most physical on the list with a rating of 74. With a jumping ability of 82, 73 stamina and a great strength of 76, he truly is a solid right back. Not only a solid player, Soppy is impressively quick with an acceleration of 80 and a Rapid Play Style which gives him more control when running with the ball.

  • Physically Strong - With the highest physicality rating on the list (stat of 74), Soppy is an extremely solid right back to get past either in the air or on the ground.
  • Rapid - The Rapid Play Style combined with his quick acceleration and sprint speed of 80 and 77 give him better control running with the ball at pace.
  • Agile - The other strong point Soppy has is his agility and balance. With ratings of 74 and 72, Soppy is quite nimble on his feet, making his strength even more impressive.

14. Miguel Maga - Portugal - Vitoria (Liga Portugal) - RWB, RB, RM - 21 years old - Overall 72 - Potential 82 - Transfer Cost £4.5m

Bouncing between the Rio Ave and Padroense youth teams, Maga has always played in his home country of Portugal. Now a player for Vitoria Guimaraes since  the under 19 squad, Maga is primarily a rotation player being used first and foremost in the cup runs.

Maga’s main strength is definitely his defensive awareness and using it to predict play. With a defensive awareness of 75 and interceptions of 76 as well the Block and Anticipate Play Styles, it’s rare a ball can get past Maga making him an absolute wall in defence.

  • The Interceptor - Maga’s interceptions and defensive awareness of 76 and 75 make him extremely aware of the ball around him and where a pass is aiming to go, being able to pick it off.
  • Distinct Play Styles - With the Anticipate and Block Play Styles, Maga’s ability to intercept a ball are heightened even further.
  • Speedy Reactor - The pace of Maga at a stat of 78 makes him really quick with or without the ball, but his reactions of 73 make him very able to adapt to the play ahead of him.

13. Filippo Terracciano - Italy - AC Milan (Series A) - RB, RM, LB - 21 years old - Overall 72 - Potential 83 - Transfer Cost £3.1m

Filippo Terracciano Real World Highlights

A product of the Hellas Verona youth team, Terracciano started this season as the main right back for his hometown team featuring in all games before he was bought by AC Milan in January 2024. Now at Milan, Terracciano is yet to receive much game time, making sporadic appearances from the bench.

Terracciano is a rapid player with a very rounded set of skills making him adept to any part of the game. With a pace of 81 and dribbling of 72, not to mention his Rapid Play Style, he is well adept at running with the ball and weaving around the pitch creating space. Although not a stand out player as a must buy, for only £3.1m he is a strong investment to have to develop over a few seasons and turn a profit.

  • Primary Investment - With a potential growth of 11 points from 72 to 83, with an initial price tag of £3.1m, Terracciano is extremely accessible to any team to boost the transfer budget down the line.
  • Wicked Quick - Terracciano’s pace of 81 make him an exceptionally quick young winger, which paired with his Rapid Play Style make him very controlled while dribbling at pace.
  • Airborne - Terracciano’s other stand out quality is his jumping skill. With a rating of 78, he gets great air while launching for the ball.

12. Conor Bradley - Northern Ireland - Liverpool (Premier League) - RB, RWB - 20 years old - Overall 71 - Potential 83 - Transfer Cost £2.9m

After starting his career in the Dungannon Swifts youth academy, he caught the eye of Liverpool FC at the age of 16. Following a loan spell to Bolton in 2022 and a back injury in 2023, Bradley has been key to Klopp’s plans in the wake of a wave of injuries. Not only becoming noticed in the Premier League, Bradley has also been awarded 13 caps for his national side of Northern Ireland.

Bradley is an absolute machine. Not only having a stamina of 84, but also having the Relentless Play Style means that his stamina recharges at half time, giving him even more capability to use his incredible pace of 80 throughout the game.

  • Relentless Running - With the Relentless Play Style and a stamina rating of 84, Bradley has the ability to just run and run all game and experiences a limited amount of fatigue as the season goes on.
  • Rapid Pace - Bradley is a really speedy RB, with a pace of 80 he can keep up with most wingers attacking making him a great defender of counter attacks.
  • Ridiculously Cheap - At only £2.9m with an overall potential of 83, Bradley is a great investment to support the rise of any mid range team, or to turn a profit.

11. Tiago Santos - Portugal - Lille (Ligue 1) - RB - 21 years old - Overall 72 - Potential 82 - Transfer Cost £4.5m

Santos’s youth development was extremely varied, having bounced around four different Portuguese youth academies before joining the Estoril Praia main squad in 2022. Instantly becoming a key member of the squad, Santos caught the eye’s of French team Lille who bought him in the summer of 2023 making him their main starting right back.

Although ranking in at number 11, Santos actually has the best long pass on the list with a rating of 72. This makes him a great option to supply into the box on attacking runs, especially with his crossing of 67. Not only a great supplier, but his pace of 81 and dribbling of 74 means that he can easily make the runs to get to a position to whip it into the forwards.

  • Support on the Wing - With his great pace of 81 and his strong dribbling stat of 74, Santos can easily make his way up the wing to support attacking runs.
  • Extra Delivery - Having the best long pass and a competent crossing stat of 67 means that he’s able to try and get some assists through delivering into the box.
  • Defensive Rock - Santos is not only a great attacking RB, but is a rock at the back with an impressive standing tackle of 74 and defensive awareness of 71.

10. Agustin Giay - Argentina - San Lorenzo de Almagro (Copa de la Liga) - RWB, RM, CM - 20 years old - Overall 71 - Potential 83 - Transfer Cost £3.8m

Having risen through the San Lorenzo under 20s team and reserve squad, Giay has broken into the first team and has become a key player for the squad, starting all games and even getting his name on the score sheet with 2 assists this season. Although yet to represent the main Argentinian squad, Giay has pulled on the blue shirt for the under 20s team on 13 occasions, making him a regular now for the side.

Although not the most exciting in the list, Giay definitely has some features which make him a strong option for any team. Unfortunately, most of these strengths sit in with his potential growth as an investment option and the coverage he provides on the pitch through his multiple roles of RWB, RM and CM.

  • Midfield Coverage - As well as being a capable RB, he provides an option for RM and CM as a back up in the midfield.
  • Investment Option - With such a small price tag of £3.8m, Giay is really an investment for the future for most clubs, fitting into any mid range team to support with promotion prospects.
  • Great Agility - Giay’s strongest attributes are his pace and his agility with stats of 77 and 73, making him light on his feet.

9. Ivan Fresneda - Spain - Sporting (Liga Portugal) - RB - 18 years old - Overall 72 - Potential 85 - Transfer Cost £4.8m

Iván Fresneda Real World Highlights

Fresneda is another player on the list who bounced around youth academies, being a part of 4 different clubs including Leganes and Real Madrid before settling in the Real Valladolid youth club and rising through the ranks to the main squad. In the summer last year, Fresneda secured a move across the border to Portuguese capital where unfortunately he is yet to make his mark, with a shoulder injury ruling him out for some time.

Whilst one of the weaker starting defenders on the list, Fresneda gets his rank of number 9 for his potential with how young he is and the price tag attributed to him at only £4.8m. Having a potential end rating of 85 makes him a future first team player for any top team, which makes him a steal if you get him early at such a low cost. My advice, buy him early and either use him consistently or loan him out.

  • Future Prospect - With a final potential overall of 85 he is a future star, so develop him properly and you’ll feel the benefits later.
  • Multiple Play Styles - Fresneda has 4 Play Styles to his name; Jockey, Block, Technical and First Touch giving him a great defensive ability to apply pressure and get in the way of shots and passes, as well as giving more control over the ball.
  • Available to All - At only £4.8m he is easily buyable for any team meaning that whoever you like to play as, you can easily get his services.

8. Amar Dedic - Bosnia - RB Salzburg (Bundesliga) - RB, LB - 21 years old - Overall 73 - Potential 82 - Transfer Cost £6m

Amar Dedić Real World Highlights

A graduate of the Salzburg youth team, Dedic signed to the main squad in 2020 before going on loan to Wolfsberger in 2021. On loan he was a key player for the Wolfsberger campaign, ending fourth in the league and granting Dedic a regular spot in the starting team sheet on his return to the Red Bull squad. Not only a star in the Austrian league, Dedic has bagged himself 12 caps for the Bosnia-Herzegovina national squad, even getting his first international goal to his name against Iceland in 2023.

Dedic is an extremely exciting prospect, being extremely speedy with a pace of 83 and an incredible stamina of 88. Not only rapid on the right wing, by Dedic is capable already of being able to be used on either wing, making him a great back up option on the left also

  • Insanely Fast - With a pace of 83, Dedic is a truly rapid full back, helping to support any attacking runs.
  • Incredible Stamina - Dedic’s stamina of 88 is truly impressive as a 21 year old in season one, making him one less worry of fatigue as the games go on.
  • Either Wing - With Dedic’s ability to move across onto the left, he’s a great option to cover on either side of the defensive line.

Amar Dedic Full Details

7. Devyne Rensch - Netherlands - Ajax (Eredivisie) - RB, CB, LB - 21 years old - Overall 74 - Potential 82 - Transfer Cost £8m

A homegrown talent from the Ajax youth academy, Rensch has been a member of the main squad since 2020. By the end of his first season, Rensch had already been getting significant game time, ultimately making him a regular starter by the end of season two, only missing out on game time due to injuries.

The most versatile defender on the list, Rensch is not only a great right back, but can also work as a backup in any position in the defensive line up. This versatility is extremely rare in a defender, but for a defender with a price tag of £8m, it makes him a must buy for any team either as a main player for the mid range teams or as a key substitute for any top quality team.

  • Pure Versatility - Not only a RB, Rensch also has the roles of CB and LB already attributed to him, making him a great option for anywhere in the back line.
  • Allround Defender - With the 4th highest defending rating on the list, 74, Rensch is extremely capable in the back line right from the word go, and only gets better if developed properly.
  • Bargain Buy - For £8m, this incredibly capable and versatile defender is extremely accessible for any team and will fit into all squads remarkably well either as a starting man or as a super sub.

Devyne Rensch Full Details

6. Aaron Hickey - Scotland - Brentford (Premier League) - RB, RWB, LB - 21 years old - Overall 76 - Potential 82 - Transfer Cost £10m

Aaron Hickey Real World Highlights

After growing up as part of the Hearts youth academy, Hickey made his mark in the Scottish Premier League for the main squad, becoming the youngest player to ever start in a Scottish Cup final. It’s no wonder that in no time at all, other clubs came knocking with Bologna managing to lure him to Italy to support their run in Series A. His dominant display for the Italian side secured his move back to the UK, this time to play his trade in England for Brentford where he’s been a key player in the squad, only missing games lately due to injury. A star for each club he’s played for, Hickey has rightly earned his call up to the Scottish national squad, having made 11 appearances so far.

Although his starting overall of 76 is the 3rd highest in the list, Hickey’s overall potential is one of the lowest here, especially in comparison to the top 5 which we’ll come onto in a moment. That said, as a short term player or a player for a mid range team, Hickey is brilliant. Season one he has the 2nd highest standing tackle, and 3rd highest dribbling, defence and passing at 75, 73 and 70.

  • Start the Attack - Coming in the top three players on this list for passing, dribbling and defence shows his general high ratings across the board making him a well rounded defender to be able to win the ball, find space and pick a pass.
  • Ambidextrous - His 5-star weak foot ability makes him even more able to create space and to supply the ball wherever needed.
  • Strong Engine - With an stamina of 78, Hickey is more than able to keep running throughout the game, causing less worry around energy levels and fatigue throughout the season.

5. Valentino Livramento - England - Newcastle (Premier League) - RB - 20 years old - Overall 76 - Potential 85 - Transfer Cost £11m

Tino Livramento Real World Highlights

Scouted by Chelsea at the age of 7, Livramento was sold to Southampton in 2021 where he instantly became the starting right back. Unfortunately tormented by injury, his time at the Saints  came to an end in last summer’s transfer window being bought by Newcastle United where he’s a rotation player as a backup for Kieran Trippier.

Livramento has been a part of my career modes for two years now, regularly buying him for my Liverpool career as a backup to Trent Alexander-Arnold. Starting as a RB, Livramento really comes into his own as a RWB, with his pace great for supporting along the right wing. With a weak foot rating of 4 stars, he can cut in or push forward to deliver the ball however needed.

  • Interceptor - Livramento is great at picking off a stray pass from attacking players with his interceptions of 76.
  • Starting the Counter Attack - Linking in with his interceptions, or by tackling, Livramento’s pace of 78 and high attacking work rate make him a great player to start a counter attack, running the ball up the pitch.
  • Creative Crossing - With a rating of 69, Livramento’s crossing is more than capable, being able convert his runs into opportunities on goal.

4. Rico Lewis - England - Man City (Premier League) - RB, CDM - 18 years old - Overall 75 - Potential 88 - Transfer Cost £8.5m

Rico Lewis Real World Highlights

Another homegrown talent, Lewis has been with Manchester City  since the age of 9 in 2013. In 2022, Lewis made his break into the adult squad, primarily as a rotation player in their Premier League campaign, however this season Lewis has predominantly been used in their cup runs, especially the Champions League.

Lewis is ridiculously cheap at £8.5m. With a potential of 88 and being able to play as RB or CDM, as well as convertible to RWB, he is a very versatile player that can fit well into any squad and should definitely be capitalised on being at the start of his career.

  • Versatile - With a range of playable positions as RB, CDM or RWB, Lewis is able to fill so many gaps in the squad that he is a fantastic backup option for top tier teams or as a starter for mid range squads.
  • Cheap Buy - I can’t say it enough, at only £8.5m, he is one of the best values for money on the list, with one of the best potentials at 88, so definitely get him at such a cheap rate, even if it's just as an investment to make a profit for the club.
  • Strong Dribbler - With a rating of 72, Lewis has a great starting ability to react and control the ball with supreme balance which only improves as the seasons go on.

Rico Lewis full details

3. Malo Gusto - France - Chelsea (Premier League) - RB - 20 years old - Overall 76 - Potential 85 - Transfer Cost £14m

Malo Gusto Real World Highlights

Another product of Lyon’s exciting youth academy and reserve squads, Gusto’s break into the Lyon main squad was impactful despite several injuries affecting his Ligue 1 career. Gusto caught the eye of the Premier League via the Chelsea scouts, being brought to Stamford Bridge in 2023 and since arriving in London, Gusto has been primarily  a starting player, making 20 appearances and delivering 5 assists.

One of the fastest on this list, Gusto is ridiculously fast. Rated at 88, Gusto’s speed is unrivalled which is only supported with his strong dribbling making him untouchable on the right wing. He is definitely worth playing as a RWB to further provide attacking options for any team.

  • Too Fast To Handle - A sprint speed of 90 and the Rapid Play Style, Gusto is like The Flash on the pitch, making him a challenge for any team with the ball at his feet.
  • The Final Third - Gusto isn’t just great with the ball at his feet, but he can convert his runs into opportunities with his crossing ability and curve of 77 and 73 make him perfectly able to make early crosses into the box to find the forward runs of the strikers.
  • Engine - Being able to run the wing at rapid pace is one thing, but his stamina of 85 means that he rarely suffers from fatigue making him one less player to worry about when it comes to back ups or substitutions.

Malo Gusto full details

2. Arnau Martinez - Spain - Girona (La Liga) - RB - 20 years old - Overall 80 - Potential 86 - Transfer Cost £33.5m

A player to have remained with his youth side, Martinez has come through the Girona academy, breaking into the squad in 2021. Despite his fantastic season last year, being a regular starter, this year, Martinez has played more of a rotation role featuring more as a substitute than a starting player.

A pacey right back that is even more of an asset in the RWB position, Martinez is more of an attacking defender, supporting wing play on the right side. With a strong speed of 79 and an impressive crossing ability, Martinez is well able to supply a ball into the box for strikers to pounce on.

  • Running with the Ball - With an incredible pace of 79,ball control and dribbling of 78 and 76, Martinez is a great RWB, able to cruise down the wing with the ball at his feet to support attacking play.
  • Pinpoint Crossing - Not only can Martinez run with the ball, but he can deliver at the end of it too, with a crossing stat of 80 making him able to pick out a head in the box.
  • Aerial Threat - In the air, Martinez is a worry for any team. With a jumping stat of 81 and heading accuracy of 74, his interception stat of 77 allows him to head any ball away, whereas on attack, he can easily direct at goal.

1. Alejandro Balde - Spain - Barca (La Liga) - LB, RB - 19 years old - Overall 81 - Potential 89 - Transfer Cost £48.5m

Alejandro Balde Real World Highlights

Barcelona born  Balde has been playing for his hometown team throughout the youth academy and now, as of 2022, for the main squad. Balde has been a regular starter for the Catalan side, and being such a promising player, it’s no surprise he’s made 7 caps for the Spanish national team, showing off his ability on the global stage.

Although a natural LB, Balde is perfectly capable in the RB position with it already being one of his alternate roles. With his exceptional ability, not only is he our top pick for right back, but was also second in the list of top young defenders in general.

  • The Flash - Balde is without a doubt the fastest on this list, with a rapid pace of 91 making him untouchable on the wing.
  • Great Vision - With a vision of 72, crossing of 79, short and long passing of 80 and 70, Balde can spot teammates and pick out a pass to anyone on the pitch, making him a reliable teammate to have on the pitch.
  • Strong Standing Tackle - Having the Anticipate Play Style, Balde’s already impressive standing tackle stat of 80 is heightened, giving him a stronger capability of winning the ball back.
