Hello, hello! My name’s Ember and I’m coming back at you with another bests list. This time, I’ll be talking about the 10 best weapons in Oblivion, let's get into it.

10. Blade Of Woe (Best for stealth characters)

The Blade Of Woe is a unique dagger given to the player at the start of the Dark Brotherhood questline.

This is probably one of, if not my absolute favorite, weapons in the game. Depending on your level, the enchantments on the dagger change to become more powerful and make the weapon more useful. The Blade Of Woe is an incredibly easy weapon to get, like, I cannot put enough emphasis on how easy this is to obtain, it’s a very good weapon for early game. I’d recommend this weapon to anyone playing a stealth character. It’s great as a secondary weapon for stealth archers or a main weapon for thieves. If you do the Dark Brotherhood questline and keep the Blade Of Woe with you during the last quest, the Night Mother will enchant it, making it one of the best daggers in the game.

The Akaviri Sunderblade is a katana available for purchase from the Three Brother’s Trade Goods in the Imperial City Market District.

I’d like to start this off by appreciating how pretty this Katana is. It’s modeled after a Japanese katana, making it absolutely gorgeous to slice with. This weapon has some amazing stats and enchantments, it’s. It’s great for early gameplay since it can be purchased in a shop and doesn’t require players to be any specific level. I’d recommend this to beginning players as well as anyone who plays a fighting character.

8. Skull Of Corruption (Best for spellcasters)

A mage weapon! The Skull Of Corruption is a staff that can be obtained by completing Vaermina’s  Daedric quest.

This staff is pretty cool both for the way it looks and howthe way it works. It’s adorned with a pretty rad looking skull on the top that emits magic. The magic it emits causes a clone of your enemy to appear and attack the original NPC for 30 seconds. This staff is good for both pure mages and battlemages. It can be carried into battle along with your weapon of choice to make for a pretty cool fight, or it can be used on its own.

7. Bow Of Infernal Frost (Best for archers)

The Bow Of Infernal Frost is an enchanted bow sold by M’raaj Dar in the Cheydinhal Dark Brotherhood sanctuary.

This bow has made it onto this list because of its enchantments. This bow deals 10 points of both frost and fire damage (don’t know how it manages to do that since those are conflicting elements, anything is possible with magic I guess) to the target upon impact, making for a whopping 28 damage total. The Bow Of Infernal Frost is pretty easy to get, so beginner players should definitely go after this one.

This is a photo from the Skyblivion mod, but it's very similar to how the blade appears in Oblivion

6. Thornblade (Best for fighter characters)

Thornblade is a unique leveled longsword that can be obtained by completing the Wayward Knight quest.

This blade is absolutely amazing. It deals devastating damage to any enemy it hits, this is a good blade for characters that rush into battle ready to swing. I personally really like this sword because it gives you some really satisfying kills, depending on the difficulty you’re playing on, you can get some pretty cool insta-kills.

5. Witsplinter (Best for stealth characters)

Witsplinter is a leveled Elven dagger that can be obtained during the quest “The Siren’s Deception”.

Witsplinter is good for fighting against mages, seeing as its enchantments damage magicka and intelligence. I really like this blade for that reason and because the enchantments become more powerful if you get it at a higher level. I’d recommend this weapon to any stealth character, especially ones that will be encountering enemies that use magic a lot.

Weapon stats

  • 6-20 damage
  • 3-10 carry weight

4. Bow Of Infliction (Best for archers)

The Bow Of Infliction is a unique bow that can be obtained viaby purchasing it from The Archer’s Paradox in Bravil.

This bow doesn't have an enchantment as powerful as the Bow Of Infernal Frost, but it can deal up to twice the amount of damage. This bow is really good if you’re fighting against another archer, since its enchantments drain the Marksman skill and damage Agility, your foe most likely isn’t gonna come out on top. It’s also good for archers taking part in large battles because of the incredible amount of damage it can do.

Weapon stats (base)

  • 18 damage

3. Volendrung (Best for warriors or barbarians)

Volendrung is a unique warhammer that is obtained by completing Malacath’s Daedric quest.

This warhammer is probably the best one in the game. It does a really good amount of damage and has two great enchantments. It’s a pretty heavy weapon though, so I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone with a low carrying capacity. I personally really like using this weapon when I play a character that warrants it, both because of its stats and its looks.

Weapon stats

  • 20 damage
  • 60 carry weight
  • 3200 health

  • .70 speed

2. Mehrunes Razor (Best for stealth and one-handed characters)

I’m just all about Daedric weapons today, aren’t I? Mehrunes Razor is a unique dagger that can be obtained by completing Mehrunes Dagon’s quest in the Mehrunes Razor plug-in.

This dagger is better than the Blade Of Woe because of its ability to instantly kill targets. Mehrunes Razor has the Daedric Banishing enchantment, enabling you to perform one-hit kills. This weapon is also leveled, so the higher your level when you get it, the more powerful it is. This blade is great for stealth kills, since it can insta-kill just about anything, I’d definitely recommend seeking it out.

Weapon stats (levels 1-4)

  • 7 damage

 1. Apotheosis (Best for mages)

Last but most certainly not least, we have Apotheosis (it took me way too long to spell this one properly). Apotheosis is a unique staff that can be obtained by purchasing it at Rindir’s Staffs in the Imperial City Market District.

This is one of, if not the most powerful staffs in the game. This thing can kill city guards and other enemies of a similar level in just a couple hits, so yeah, it’s pretty good. This staff can be good for battlemages or just pure mages, battlemages could definitely make use of it in large battles. Apotheosis is pretty easy to get, so I’d recommend it to beginning players. From personal experience, this staff is great and fun to use, it’s definitely worth seeking out.
